The Jump..... and New Family

Darkness.

That's all Error sees when he jumps in the void.

Darkness. No, pain. No, screams. No, breakdowns. Nothing.

Complete darkness.

He shouldn't love this after what he left behind. Left everyone behind to their doom. But he was so tired. He hoped at least the ones who didn't deserve this have a quick death. He kept falling, the strings no longer holding him. He was free in the darkness. But eventually, the darkness ended.

A pair of arms wrapped around the tired broken skeleton. Held him close against her.

"My poor child. You want to sleep forever but I'm afraid I can't let you do that. I want you to live the life you deserve." Destiny nuzzled the top of his skull. She began to heal her child as much as she could. She had to get him far away from here. Destiny began to travel far away, to a place that her sister Fate would never expect to look. The unknown territories that they rarely cross as it was not their own. But Destiny kept pushing onwards to find a place for her child.

She soon found another deity.... Magic. They didn't look pleased to meet her. "Magic-" "What are you doing here, Destiny? Your sister has caused enough damage." Destiny flinched. Her sister indeed caused a lot of trouble. Even in areas she is not welcome or already have their own Fates. "I'm looking for a home for my child." Magic hummed, looking at Error thoughtfully. "He can live in my world.... perhaps he can change the story."

"You...You mean it?" Destiny was taken aback. Magic nodded. "Thank you Magic." She sent a grateful look to the other deity and looked down at her child. She petted his skull and kissed his forehead. "But you cannot interrupt the events that will take place." Destiny gave them a saddened nod. Mostly because it meant she won't get to interact with her child. Magic sighed. "You can speak with him, but you cannot stop the events that will unfold."

"Thank you." Destiny held her child a little longer until she finally had to give him to Magic.

Error shifted a bit but he relaxed. Magic held Error carefully. "I will make certain he heals, Destiny." "Thank you again Magic. He deserves it." Magic nodded, before shooing away Destiny. "You'd best leave, before Fate decides to follow you." Destiny nodded. She looked one last time at Error until she forced herself to drift away.

When she left, Magic looked down at Error. Error was sleeping peacefully. It looked like his first rest in a very long time. Magic hummed, looking thoughtful. How to do this.... She then glanced back at her world and froze....Are those fools really going to do this now!? She twitched, before smiling as she realized something. Her Savior wouldn't have to grow up lonely this time.....

She looked back at Error and lifted her finger to his chest. Her finger began to be surrounded in the different colors of her magic. Error's Soul came out of his chest near the finger. She hummed, being careful as she added some things. When she was finally done, she pushed the soul back gently in Error's chest. She nodded, before opening a portal to place Error where he was needed. Now all she could do was wait....

OoOoOoOoOoOo

Error groaned as he finally began to open his eyes. He was in a forest? What the heck!? Error slowly rises up to his feet and ignored the pain in his body. A forest? Why a forest!? He could see a road close by.... so, he was on the Surface? Great. The Void couldn't even help him out. He grumbled and opened a set of codes to see what AU he is in...What in Toby Fox is he looking at? It was... not codes per say. It looked more like.... a type of language? Error began to scan the language. Magic seemed to be a very big thing here.... but no Monsters? What a strange twist...Oh look no balance.

Wait.

WHAT?!

That was..... surprising. It looked like there was no Balance to maintain, it took care of itself. No balance....No destruction....No Fate. Was he finally free? He was free..... He was actually free!

He couldn't help the small chuckle that slipped out of his mouth. But then it became full blown laughter. Not because he was crazy or being destructive. It was pure happiness. No more destroying, no more voices, he was free! Except for a little tiny wail.

Wait.... what?

He stopped and looked around the forest. He could hear crying.... Error began to search around a bit. He soon found an odd tree. It appeared to have a door in it. The crying was coming from there. What the heck? He reached out, but was very alert. Error opened the door. There was a baby.... not even a couple hours old, wrapped in a pale blanket. Who the heck leaves a baby in an odd tree? He looked around to see if there was anyone nearby. The crying got louder. He reached down and carefully picked them up. "I gotcha you little bug." The baby started to calm down now that it wasn't in the dark and alone.

Error looked down at the baby and made sure they were held close to his chest. "Okay you little bug let's see I can find us a place to settle down." Error muttered as he began to walk off with the baby. The baby cooed happily. Error couldn't help but chuckle, then he frowned a little. He shouldn't get too close to the baby. But..... the little one was all alone.... Just like he was in the anti-void.

He held the baby a bit closer and a little possessively. His scarf covered the baby like a second blanket. The baby cooed again, their fingers wrapping around his scarf as they yawned sleepily. Error looked down at the baby. "Let's find us a place to rest." Wait how is he going to find a place as a monster? A few minutes later Error dumbstruck relooking through the codes and did a CHECK on himself. Since when could he turn into a human and do all this!? He almost would have crashed right there, if it hadn't been for the baby's giggles and cooes looking at the pretty Soul.

The baby reached out and tried to touch the Soul. "No, no-" The little one wasn't able to reach it, thankfully. Error let out a relieved sigh and brought it back. Okay turning into a human. That shouldn't be too hard...Right? He was wrong. It took him almost an hour before he could do it. "Okay little bug. Am I an ugly or nice looking human?" Error looked down at the baby. The baby was asleep.

"Well, better than crying." Brushed the hair out of his face. Why did he have such long hair? Oh well it's a nice color. It feels a bit strange to have skin. The baby looked quite peaceful.... he either needed to name it or find it's name. He thinks it over as he finally finds a town close by. Error held the baby close and teleported to his destination. A few hours later he found a decent hotel room for the next few days, and he still had a lot of money left from that one bar of gold. The other gold he kept a hold of for later.

Error was now feeding the happy baby a bottle and just staring at the baby. Well he should say her after he got her changed and made a cute mint green onesie. She was a very cute and happy baby. He had seen her name embroidered on the blanket, though he was confused. Why go to the trouble of naming her if you were going to abandon her? Must be a human thing.

He glanced back down at the name on the blanket. Emma

It is a pretty name. The baby coughed a little, done eating. Error sat her up against his shoulder and pat her stomach. She burped and cooed, snuggling against him. Error chuckled and snuggled back. He dropped the disguise and went back to his monster form. "Time for you to take a nap." Emma cooed, closing her eyes. Error smiled down at his child. Wait? His? .... that had a nice ring to it. Error smiled and held his Emma close.

28 years later.

Emma was returning from work. She had successfully caught a bail jumper, and felt like celebrating her success. Plus, her Ren was picking up Henry from school later. So, she can celebrate early. She smiled to herself as she opened the door to her home. She put her stuff down and went to the freezer and grinned when she saw her favorite ice cream. She pulled it out and grabbed a spoon, leaning against the counter to start eating.

Her cellphone rang. She pulled it out and saw it was Ren. "Hey Ren." she said, getting another spoonful of ice cream. "Hey Emma." Oh boy. When he uses her name it's usually serious. She frowned and put the ice cream down. "Did something happen?" "Well for starters I have Henry right by me. Who if I remember correctly was supposed to still be in school for another 2 hours." Emma blinked. "Um, what?" she asked, a little shocked. That wasn't like her son at all. "And he has a little friend with him who I have never seen before." Emma blinked. "Is it another stray cat?" she asked, a little exasperated.

"No, this time a human. A human girl." Error looked at his grandson and the girl. Henry looked sheepish, and the girl looked very nervous. Emma sighed. "Might as well bring them home, so we can figure out what's going on." "Agreed and I would alert the school." Emma nodded to herself. "I'll see you guys in a bit, Ren." "You too Dragonfly." He hung up and looked at the two. "Come on back in the car." Henry and the girl both nodded quickly, climbing in the back seat. Error sighed and rubbed his eyes. They soon arrived at Emma's home as she got off the phone with the school board.

Henry's head was down when his Mom looked at him. Emma raised a brow at her son, then turned to look at his new friend. The girl was blond, with hazel eyes and pale skin. She was wearing a nice shirt with flowers and blue jeans with some moderately new shoes. All in all, she didn't really look like a runaway. But looks could be deceiving and something else could be wrong. She sighed, looking at her son. "Care to explain to me why Ren found you outside school two hours early?"

"She was outside my school and I was just trying to help her. She said she was trying to find someone to help her home. And I didn't mean to miss school mom but you and GG told me to always follow my gut instinct." Henry told her promptly. Emma stared at him for a few more minutes, before turning to the girl. "Hey kid, you hungry?" she asked kindly. The girl nodded yes shyly. Emma smiled and pulled out some pizza leftovers they had from dinner the day before.

Henry and the girl were sitting on the couch. Emma showed them the pizza. "Bon appetit!" she said jokingly, acting as if she was a great chef. Henry grinned. The girl giggled a bit. Emma smiled at them, serving up the food. "Alright kids, have at it!" The kids eat while the adults slip away to talk.

"Do you think she's a runaway?" Emma asked Error. "It's possible." Error rub his chin. "It's just...She is too clean to be one." Emma nodded, looking at her. She was showing Henry a book. "And she looks pretty happy, too." "Yeah and Henry is a good kid. But he doesn't usually make this drastic decision to just leave school." She nodded, watching the two. "And." Error leans in to whisper, "She doesn't have it but there's magic surrounding her."

Emma blinked in surprise, before focusing. She could see the magic surrounding the girl, and oddly enough, her book. The book didn't feel dangerous, just.... Odd. "We better find her home soon." Error said. Now he could check the codes but they made an agreement that it was best that it should only be used if the situation is serious. And the same went with changing anything. Emma nodded. "We can ask after the kids are done eating." Error nods.

Emma hummed, watching the girl point something out to Henry, who looked really interested. Emma took a bite of her pizza and watched closely. The girl pointed out something else, then both kids looked up at Emma.

The girl was looking at Emma with awe and admiration. Henry was looking at his mom thoughtfully, then back down at the book. Okay that was odd.

Alrighty, it was time to do some introductions. "So, I'm assuming you already know Henry's name." Emma said dryly. "I'm his Mom, Emma, and this is Ren." she said, pointing to Error. "I'm Dawn." The girl said and smiled. Emma smiled at her. "So uh... does your family live close by or something?" "I live in Storybrooke, Maine." Dawn smiled widely. Emma frowned. Living in Maine? Granted, Boston was close, but still.... that was a couple hour drive. "How'd you end up in Boston?" "I walked and took the bus."

Emma sighed, looking at her Ren. "We'll give you a lift home, how does that sound?" she asked Dawn. "Really?!" Dawn exclaimed, looking hopeful. Emma nodded. "Yeah, we can leave in a few minutes?" she said questioningly, looking at Error. "Yeah we can do that." Error nodded. Emma smiled at Dawn and Henry. "Hey Henry, you might want to go pack a small bag." "Does that mean I'm missing school for the week?" Henry grinned. "Call yourself lucky, spring break is in two weeks." Error pointed out. Emma nodded. "Go on, shoo!" she said with a smile. Henry jumped up and went to his room.

"I'll go see what I have here." Error pats Emma shoulder. Emma smiled and nodded, looking at Dawn. She noticed that she was reading her book again and walked over, interested. "What are you reading, kiddo?" "It's an amazing story. Would you like to see?" Dawn asked her. Emma nodded and sat down with a smile. Emma looked at the book and could feel the magic better being so close. She began to look through the book. She hummed a little as she looked. It was a rather odd story... all the Grimm's Fairy Tales being connected.....but a pretty fascinating story.

"What do you think?" "A pretty good story." Emma said thoughtfully. Dawn smiled happily. Emma smiled at her, ruffling her hair. Dawn giggled. Emma chuckled, then heard Henry running back into the room, a backpack on his back. "Ready Mom!" he said excitedly. "Alright." Emma said, getting up and going to start packing. After she was done it was time to go; they were taking Emma's car.

Emma was driving, and her Ren was next to her. Henry and Dawn were in the back, looking through the book. Error looked deep in thought. She hummed. Something told her that there would be quite a few surprises at the end of this trip. They better be good ones.
