Chapter 6

Storybrooke

"Wait, Regina, did... did your mother find the baby?" Emma asked.
"No..." Regina replied.
"So then what happened?"
"Read on."
~
The Enchanted Forest
Daniel lay on the floor, like a statue.
Cora just stood there as Regina was left crying over Daniel's dead body.
"I'm doing this for you, Regina."
"What? You're ruining my life mother! How is that in any way going to make me HAPPY??"
"You'll see."
"No, mother, I won't. All I see is you RUINING my life!"
"Just wait."
Then Cora walked away.
Regina ran towards the stable where the baby lay asleep. Then she suddenly started crying.
Regina picked up the baby and soothed her until she was no longer crying.
"There, there. It's alright." She told her daughter. Then tears began to fall from her eyes.
Reality stood in her way.

Daniel was dead.
He couldn't look after the baby.
She couldn't look after the baby, Cora would kill it.
She had nothing to do.
She couldn't just abandon it.
And she couldn't let it die.
It was all she had.
But there was nothing she could do.
She fed the baby and put it to sleep. Then she left it where she had found it and returned to the castle, where she saw her mother standing.
Regina looked at her.
She looked back.
"Regina..."
"Don't talk to me!" Then she ran off to her room.
Henry walked in.
"Go speak to your daughter. Tell her I'm sorry, but this is for her. She wont hear it from me." Cora ordered.
"What's for her?" Henry asked.
"Just go." Cora replied.
~
Regina quickly shut the book.
There was a knock on the door.
"Emma, go hide upstairs. It's Henry." Regina told her.
"Oh... alright." Emma said, and she ran upstairs.
Regina went to open the door. "Henry!" She said. "How are you?"
~
Emma stood in Regina's room. Then she noticed a small glittering object on her desk.
She picked it up and realised it was a key. A key that opened a small drawer. She took the key and opened the drawer that it matched with and saw a picture that looked as if it had been painted in the Enchanted Forest. In that picture was a woman, a man and a baby.
Then Emma realised.
It was Regina, Daniel and their daughter.
From that moment, she became even more intrigued in the story.
~
"I'm alright." He replied.
"So, what are doing here?"
"Well, Mary Margaret said that Emma had gone to work, and I was bored, so I came to see you."
"Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you like."
"Hey, can you tell Emma to come here after she's done at work?"
"Sure." Regina went to her phone and texted Emma.
Henry was told that you're at work, so he said to come over when you're done.
Emma picked up her phone and saw the message.
Wait what? I'm upstairs though!!
Regina sighed.
"What is it mom?" Henry asked.
"Oh, it's just that Emma is on her way."
Figure something out.
Then Emma decided to jump out of the window. She landed outside Regina's house. She knocked on the door.
"Oh, hey... Emma..." Regina said.
"Hey... Regina..."
"Is everything okay?" Henry asked.
"Never better!" They both replied.
Henry looked at them.
Then Regina's phone went off.
"I better take this." Regina answered to phone and went to her room.
"Hey kiddo, you okay?" Emma asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine mom." Henry replied.
"Sure about that?"
"Yeah."
Then Regina came downstairs with her coat in her hand and began to put it on.
"Sorry, gotta go somewhere." She went up to Henry, gave him a hug and left.
"That was weird..." Emma said.
"Come on Emma, it's my mom. Of course it'll be something weird." Henry told her.
"Yeah, but where's she going, and why did she have to leave all of a sudden?" Emma asked.
"I don't know," Henry looked out of the window and saw Regina get into her car and drive off. "Probably best to leave her alone though..."
"You're right."
"Hey, have you seen the book anywhere?"
"The book?"
"Yeah..."
"Oh, the book! Isn't it at home?"
"No, I was looking for it all morning."
"That's strange. I'm sure you just misplaced it or something. It can't just grow legs and walk away now, can it?"
"I guess not..."
They both left and went to their own home to look for the book.
~
"Ah, there you are Regina." Robin said.
"Hey, Robin." She replied.
"Are you alright?" He asked her.
"Yeah... I'm... I'm fine."
"Regina... I know you. I know when you're feeling alright and when you aren't. Come on. Tell me what's wrong." He took his arm and put it around her as they both sat down on a fallen tree trunk.
"Robin... promise me you'll still love me if I tell you?"
"I'll love you no matter what."
"You know Henry's book?"
"I do."
"Well, there's new chapters. Please don't tell him."
"I won't Regina. You can trust me. Why don't you want him to know anyway?"
"It's got my past life from the Enchanted Forest in it."
"Let me guess, it was terrible."
"You have no idea. I... I had a daughter."
"Really? That's amazing!"
"You're not upset?"
"Of course not. That was the past. We're in the present." Regina hugged him tighter. "Now what's wrong Regina?"
"It... It hurts Robin."
"What happened to her?"
"That's the thing. I don't know."
