The next day Winter was in the dinner eating breakfast in a booth sitting next to Henry. "So what's your punishment?" Henry asked his friend. "I'm grounded for 2 weeks" Winter said. "Ooo that's tough" Henry said. "Yeah But price I pay for being a good friend" Winter said to Henry. Henry smiled at Winter as he ate toast. No matter what Winter was always by his side ever since they first met.

Ruby came over with two cups of Coco with one with cinnamon on it and the other with chocolate powder on it. "Here you go kiddos" Ruby said as she placed the two cups in front of the boys. "Thanks mum" Winter said. "No problem sweetie" she said kissing his cheek before going.

"I'm going to the bathroom I'll be right back" Winter said to Henry and went to the bathroom. Ruby was smiling at the two boys. "Ruby what are you smiling at" Granny asked. "I think My little snowflake might have a crush" Ruby said. "Really on who" Granny asked intrigued.

Ruby pointed to Henry. "Oh come on Ruby their just friends" Granny said. Ruby smirked. "That's how it starts Granny" Ruby said wiping the counter while smiling at Henry.

Winter was in the bathroom washing his hands. When he left he saw Emma. And Henry talking. "Hey Emma" Winter said. "Hey kid" Emma said. "Winter you need to go the bus is going to leave soon" Granny said handing him his lunch. "Thanks granny" he said. She smiled at the young boy and kissed his cheek.

Suddenly a man wearing a business suit came in and his grandmothers expression turned cold. "What do you want" Granny asked. "I'm here to speak to your granddaughter" the man said. Emma's attention was drawn to them.

"Winter run along now or you'll miss the bus you to Henry" Granny said. Winter nodded and left with Henry. Ruby came out and stopped at the sight of the man granny left the two. "What are you doing here" Ruby asked seriously. "I received word that your son ran away to Boston" the man said taking out a note pad.

"It was only for a few hours and he came back" Ruby said. "And that during this time you were out partying" he said. "Well yeah but.." Ruby said before she was interrupted. "Then he ran away again yesterday" the man said. "It was to a play ground he goes to" Ruby said.

"Never the less this does not look good" the man said seriously. "So w what's going to happen" Ruby asked slightly scared. "I'm not sure I'll talk to my superiors but it is looking more likely that you will loose custody the man said. "No please don't do this please he's my son" Ruby begged.

"I'm sorry but that's what it has come to he will be picked up at school and taken to the convent where he will wait to be put into a foster home and if you want him back you'll have to attend a parenting class where your process will be reviewed" the man said before leaving.

Ruby ran into the back and began to cry. Emma followed her. "Hey what's wrong" Emma asked. "N nothing nothing at all" Ruby said. "Ruby what was that guy talking about" Emma said.

"He works with social services" Ruby said. "Why is he visiting you" Emma asked. " after he was born I left Winter unsupervised for 6 hours my grandmother was supposed to be there but she was out and the mayor reported it. and so I've been getting visits from a social workers so they can judge my parenting skills and now because of his road trip I'm going to loose him they are going to take my kid away from me" Ruby said while tears left her eyes.

"Ruby you heard the guy you just need to attend a parenting class to get him back" Emma said. "You don't get it the social workers report to the mayor and she's never liked me so this means I'm going to loose him forever" ruby said leaning against the wall.

"Do you love your son" Emma asked her. "I do more then anything" ruby said. "Then you've got to fight for him he is your son fight for him" Emma said. "What if i can't" Ruby said. "Then He's right you don't deserve him if you won't even fight to keep him" Emma said.

Outside the man looked at Winter and Henry and left. "Who was that guy" Henry asked. "A social worker they visit us every two weeks to see if my mum is fit to keep me" Winter says."and if she's not fit to keep you" I'll be taken away to a foster family probably outside of storybrooke" Winter said. "You can't leave if you do something bad will happen" Henry said.

"Plus I don't want to loose you" Henry said. "And I don't want to loose you Winter said before hugging him. Suddenly Emma and Ruby came out. "Hey snowflake" Ruby said with a cheerful smile. "Hey mum" Winter said. "Look kiddo I'm going to drive you to school today I've talked it over with your grandmother" Ruby said. "Oh ok" Winter said slightly concerned.

Winter went into his mums red car and took one last look at Henry before he and his mother drove off.

When they got to storybrooke elementary ruby hugged him tightly. "Mum what are you doing" Winter asked. "Nothing kiddo but always remember no matter what I do love you" she said as a year left her eye." I know that mum I love you to" he said.

Winter got out of the car and waved goodbye to his mum and went to class.
When he got in he saw he was the first one there besides Mary Margret Blanchard his teacher and who use to be known as Snow White. "Oh hello Winter I didn't expect you so early" Mary Margret said. He just waved to her and sat down in his seat.

"Sweetie what's wrong" she asked. "I'm going to be taken away" Winter said. "What makes you think that" she asked him. "Because a man from social services came to talk to my mum" he said. He began to cry. "I don't want to leave" he said crying. Mary Margret rubbed his back.

Suddenly the door opened and in came Regina Mills, Mayor of Storybrooke, Henry's adopted mother, and the Evil Queen. She was there along with the Sheriff. "madam mayor what are you doing here" Mary Margret asked.

"I've come to pick up Winter sheriff graham is going to be taking him to the convent where he will wait to be placed into a foster home as of right now his mother no longer has custody of him" she said. Winter went eyed and and pale. "Please I don't want to go I want to see my mum" he said while crying more.

"Unfortunately that's not a option" Regina said faking sympathy. Winter stood up and picked up his backpack. And left the class room with Sheriff Graham and Regina. The bus had just arrived and everyone was heading into the school as they left the building.

On there way out winter saw Henry look at him before he was put into the police car. Winter saw tears leave Henry's eyes."buckle up kiddo" Graham said to him as he started the car.

Winter was in a plain room with a single bed, a dresser, a desk, and closet. He was crying his eyes out into the pillow. He wanted to go home to his granny and mother.

There was a knock at the door. Emma entered. "Kid are you alright" Emma asked him. "No I want to go home" Winter said. "How did you get here" Emma asked. "The mayor Regina and the Sheriff drove me here just before school started.

"Wait the mayor took you here" Emma asked. "What do you expect she is evil queen" Winter said. Emma stormed out of the room and left the convent to go and pay Regina a visit

She drove to the mayors house and banged on the door. Regina answered it. "What is it miss swan I'm busy" Regina said. "How could you" Emma asked. "I don't know what your referring to" Regina said.

"You took a little boy away from his mother a family that loved him why" Emma asked. "That mother of his couldn't take proper care of him maybe she'll think and keep a closer eye on her son if she gets him back" Regina said.

"How could you do this to your own sons best friend" Emma said. "That's why I went down there to make sure he was with a familiar face so he wouldn't feel so sad"Regina said. "He's crying his eyes out right now he's scared he doesn't know what's going to happen to him" Emma said.

"Well that's not my problem now is it if you want to blame anyone for this miss swan blame Ruby maybe this will make that girl grow up" Regina said before she slammed the door in Emma's face.

Winter was looking out his new bedroom window. He wanted to go home to be with his family but that wasn't going to happen. He heard a knock at the door. "Go away" he said not looking away. He heard a knock again. "I SAID GO AWAY" he shouted. "Winter it's me" said a familiar voice.

Winter went and opened the door. He saw Emma. "What are you doing here" he asked. "I came to check up on you how are you holding up" Emma asked. "I want to see my mum and granny but they won't let me call or go to the diner" Winter said. "Kid me and Henry were going to go to granny's but if you want we could stay here" she said.

"No you go I got to unpack" he said. Emma nodded and left.

She went into her car where Henry was waiting. "How is he" Henry asked. "I'm not going to lie not great Henry" Emma said. "Why did my mum have to do this Winter is my only friend" Henry said crying. "Well like you say Henry she's the Evil Queen" Emma said as she began to drive away.

Meanwhile in his room Winter pulled out a picture of him and his mum. "I miss you mummy" he whispered to it before hugging it tight to his chest
