Chapter Three
It had been a few weeks since me and Harper moved into our new apartment. It was quite... without Austin running around with Peter, time seemed to slow down. I never realized how much I hate quiet places until now. Sometimes at night I think about what would have happened if I hadn't seen Peter and another woman at a Cafe. Maybe we would still be married...
Peter's POV
Liz and Katie, my daughter, moved in with Austin and I about a week ago. Austin didn't like having them there. I was sitting in my office when Austin walked in and sat in the chair across from me. I drank water as he spoke.
"When is mom and Harper coming back?" He asked.
I almost choked on my water but I managed to swallow and answer his question.
"Umm they aren't coming back Austin-" I started.
"But I don't like Liz! She's not mom! She's rude and Katie isn't any better! You have to miss mom. Please miss mom." He started to tear up. I knew it wouldn't be easy getting him to come around to the idea of having Liz and Katie around but I figured he'd like them at least. I guess I was wrong.
"I do miss mom Austin but-" I started but the doorbell rang.
"I've got it!" Liz yelled from the kitchen.
Your POV
I rang the doorbell and a few seconds later the front door opened.
"Peter great- oh. Umm you're not Peter..." I said.
"No I'm not. I'm Liz. His girlfriend." She replied as she held out her hand for me to shake.
I hesitantly shook her hand.
"Girlfriend?"
"Yeah. Who are you exactly?" She said in a rude tone.
"I'm his ex wife."
I wanted to say wife but I knew it wouldn't be right.
"Oh... Well Peter isn't here ri-" She started.
Peter walked to the door holding Austin in his arms. I could tell Austin had been crying.
"Y/n... Hey." Peter said nervously.
"Your girlfriend was just about to tell me you weren't here." I replied.
"Girlfriend?" He sounded shocked. "Liz why the hell did you tell Y/n you were my girlfriend?" This time he sounded more mad.
"Well I just figured that since I lived here now I was your girlfriend." She replied.
"Well guess what?"
"What..."
"You don't live here. Y/n and Harper should have never left because they are my family. Not you."
My eyes widened. Did he just say that?
Liz walked away furious. Peter then looked at me.
"Umm Harper forgot her phone charger...." I said.
"Oh okay well you can just run to her room and grab it then." He replied.
I walked past him and went to Harper's room and grabbed her charger then went back to the front door. I was about to walk out but Peter grabbed my wrist. I turned to look at him, confusion spread across my face.
"I meant it." He said.
"Meant what?" I asked.
"That you guys should have never left because you're my family."
"I should go... Liz seems... nice I guess. You guys will be really happy together." As I said that I pulled my wrist from his grasp.
I walked to my car and got in the driver's seat then drove home. I walked inside and a million thoughts were running through my mind, all of them going a-mile-a-minute.
I was shocked. Peter only said that because Liz was there right? But when he told me he meant it she wasn't there. He couldn't have meant what he said. He moved on... with Liz. God I hated her. She was basically my replacement but if Peter can move on then so can I.
It's time to start a new chapter of my life and no one is going to interfere with it. I had been running Stark Industries since Tony died. It was a great job and everything but that also meant having to see Peter. Everyday... But that was okay because Stark Industries is huge and I barely run into him anyways.
It was hard to wrap my mind around the fact that Peter had moved on so quickly yet I would probably be missing him for years. He was my whole life and I was his until Liz showed up. Now Liz is his whole world and I can't do anything about it but move on. Which I will do. Eventually...
