Two years later...

I finally moved on. I've had a boyfriend for about one year now. He's really sweet and would never cheat on me... unlike someone... I hadn't talked about him in about seven-ish months. I wanted to forget about him as much as possible. 

Harper just turned seventeen last week and she also has a boyfriend. I'm the only one who knows besides her friends but her father has no idea and we want to keep it that way. 

I walked into mine, Harper's and my boyfriend, Josh's apartment after a long day at Stark Industries. I walked into mine and Josh's room and saw him and another girl... you know...

I started to tear up. Twice! Two freaking times people I love and care about have cheated on me! This is unbelievable.

"Josh..." I said.

He quickly got off the girl and looked at me with panic in his eyes.

"Just get out... both of you." I muttered.

"Y/n-" Josh started.

Then I got a closer look at the girl. It was one of the interns at Stark Industries. Her name was Rachel.

"Get the hell out of my apartment." I finally said.

After a few minutes they were both fully dressed and out of the apartment door. I decided to go back to Stark Industries. I walked into my office and saw Peter sitting on my desk, looking at some of my newer pictures of Harper.

My eyes were red because I had been crying. As soon as Josh and Rachel left I broke into tears.

I shut my office door, which startled Peter.

"H-hey." He said nervously. "I was just looking at the pictures of Harper. I'm really so- hey... are you okay?"

He realized I'd been crying. Wonderful...

"Umm yeah I'm okay." I lied.

"No you're not. What's wrong Y/n?"

"Well I went back to my apartment after work about 30 minutes ago and walked in on my boyfriend and Rachel the intern." I looked at the floor.

Peter got up and walked over to me then hugged me. I was hesitant at first but eventually hugged him back.

"I'm really sorry that happened to you Y/n. I know I did the same thing and I regret that every day of my life because I lost two of the most important people in my life."

I looked at him but looked away.

"How's Liz?"

"I have no idea. Her and Katie left right after you did once you grabbed Harper's phone charger. I haven't dated since. You obviously have. And that's a good thing. You moved on I'm happy for you." He smiled at me.

At that moment I realized I was still in his arms but I didn't mind it. I missed it actually. Then Harper walked into my office. She started working here about a year ago as an intern.

"What the...." She said.

Peter and I quickly moved away from each other.

"Hey Harper..." Peter said nervously.

"Are you guys back together?"

"What? No!" I said quickly. Peter looked a little hurt. "I walked in on Josh and that intern Rachel. He was comforting me."

Harper walked over to me and Peter then grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the room and shut the door to my office.

Peter's POV

"Do you want to get back together with mom?" She asked me.

"Yeah I do. I have ever since we got divorced. Why?" I replied hesitantly.

"Because if you love her then you'll go back in there and comfort her until she's better. Even if it takes all night. And if you guys do get back together please don't cheat on her again. It broke her and now Josh cheated on her too. It's happened to her twice now and she doesn't need that happening a third time. Got it?" 

"Yeah. I won't ever hurt her again."

"Then go in there and comfort my mother."

After she said that she walked away so I walked back into Y/n's office.

Your POV

Peter walked back into my office and went over to me. He wrapped his arms around me again and this time I instantly returned it. I know he cheated on me... a lot... but I know I can still count on him to be my shoulder to cry on if I ever needed it and right now, I need it.

We ended up talking for hours. We even went on a walk around the building. Everything seemed like it was falling back into place and it was nice.

A few months later...

Peter and I have been getting really close over the past few months and there were times when we flirted with each other too. Of course, Harper picked up on this. I don't think she minded though. I know Peter hurt me but I felt safe with him and I heard his conversation with Harper outside my office a few months ago but they didn't know that.

I was standing at a counter in one of my labs at Stark Industries when someone came up behind me and hugged me, wrapping their arms around my waist. I turned around and saw Peter, our faces were inches apart. I moved away from him and continued my work but he grabbed my hands and pulled me into him. Our faces were inches apart yet again. He stared into my eyes for a few seconds and I stared back. 

I looked away and moved to the other side of the room. It wasn't a very big room so that didn't help.

"Peter we can't..." I said.

"Why not?" He replied.

"Because you hurt me.... you cheated on me and lied about it for 5 years... I don't want to go through that again."

"That was a mistake that I still regret. I'd never do it again. I'm sorry. I wish I could take back that whole month you were gone and start it over again but I can't and it sucks because I love you so much and I hated losing you and Harper. I don't want to lose you again."

I walked over to him and stopped when I was only a few inches away from him.
