Ruby Lucas- Clean Up (c)

"Why am I the one that has to tidy up?" Ruby sighed grabbing a bin liner to tidy up all the disposable cups and plates that needed to be rid of before the breakfast run in the morning.

There had been a party at Granny's diner that spanned into the early hours of the morning. Once everyone had left Granny had told Ruby it was down to her to tidy everything up so that Granny could serve breakfast in a few hours as they did every morning.

"So that you don't have to do the breakfast run," you offered, grabbing a cloth to help clean down the surfaces.

"Thank you for staying to help out," she smiled. "You really didn't have to."

You shrugged your shoulders. "It wasn't far to just leave you to do it all. It is a tip in here."

The two of you did your best to tidy up the aftermath of the party. It was for someone's birthday in Storybrook, but it looked as though a riot had commenced rather than a simple birthday party. Food was everywhere, and although there were a couple of bins for people's rubbish, no one seemed to have used them at all.

"You know I am always up for a party," Ruby sighed. "But the clean up is never quite as fun."

"Collecting used paper plates, isn't exactly what anyone would call a pastime or something of interest," you stated. "Nor is scrubbing cake icing out of the diner chairs. Honestly how did icing get so deep into these seats?"

She let out a laugh. "Heaven's knows. I have spent twenty minutes trying to scrub this seat clean, but I think this pink stain is now a permanent addition."

You both circled around the diner collecting trash and cleaning anything else up, disinfecting any surfaces that were an issue due to food waste.

"I swear there wasn't even this many items at the party, how do we have three rubbish bags filled with crap?" You frowned, tying up another bag of rubbish, ready to take them out to the bins.

"I don't know. It honestly feels like no one even ate anything, and just seemed to drop it on the floor or smear it into the seats," she responded.

It took you several hours to finish tidy up, the sun beginning to rise before the building was ready to be used as a diner again. The two of you slumped onto the floor, finally ready to have a moments rest.
