David Nolan- Family (h)

It just wasn't possible for things to always work out the way you wanted.

Something always had to go wrong, and that was what you hated.

You would finally get to a point where you were content with your life but then something would get worse for you.

David had been in your life for a long time, since childhood, and even despite that the two of you argued and had issues with your relationship.

You were lucky enough that the issues would work themselves out so you weren't to lose your relationship.

Recently, things had seemed to be good for the both of you but since you had found out you were pregnant, it hadn't gone the way you expected.

Of course, you thought David was going to be happy about it, the two of you always talked about starting a family and raising children.

And yet, when he found out he said nothing.

He didn't say a word, but he got up and walked out – leaving you in the house you shared, panicked and scared of the fact that he no longer wanted a family with you.

No person ever wanted the thought of the person they wanted to spend the rest of their life with didn't want a family with them.

When he eventually walked through the door, you didn't speak a word to him.

"So, you're not talking to me now then?"

You turned to face him. "I'm surprised you have decided to talk to me again."

"I'm sorry?"

You rolled your eyes at him before you spoke. "You were the one that walked out of that door, over an hour ago, without speaking to me after I told you I was pregnant."

"Well what did you expect me to say?"

"How about something along the lines of you being happy?"

"Of course, I am happy."

You finally stood up, crossing your arms over your chest. "Forgive me for not realising then David."

"I didn't realise I'd need to spell it out for you."

"You didn't have to. You could've just said something before leaving the house."

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Fine. Want me to say something? I am scared beyond relief and I don't know if I want that baby."

"You don't know? Do you think I asked for this?"

"We never even spoke about it."

"We have David!" you couldn't contain your annoyance at him. "We have spoken about a family, we have spoken about raising our children, we have spoken about our lives together," you reminded him in an irritated tone. "So, don't you dare tell me that you don't know."

"I don't know Y/N," as he spoke you realised his anger was coming through. "I am not prepared for a baby, and don't act as if you think you are either because you can barely hold yourself together."

His declaration shocked you, you felt tears well up in your eyes so you left the house – mimicking your boyfriend's earlier decision.

As you were walking around Storybrooke, at nine o'clock in the evening, you realised that it was a nerve wracking thing to have a baby.

But you knew that nerves didn't excuse what the two of you had said to each other.

Yes, you had gotten annoyed at him but you couldn't help it when he walked back in as if he had the right to be upset.

Despite your better judgement, you made your way back to your house.

When you walked in, you were surprised to see David sat on the sofa with his head in his hands.

He looked up at you and the look on his face made your heart want to break.

"I'm sorry," he breathed out.

You nodded in acknowledgement. "I am too."

He slowly stood up, approaching you with caution as if he was worried about you not wanting to be near him.

"I understand you being nervous David. I just thought you'd react better."

"I wasn't thinking Y/N. I panicked."

You shook your head. "Panicking doesn't excuse what was said. But I said things that I shouldn't have done."

He sighed and pulled you into his arms, resting his chin on top of your head.

You wrapped your arms around his waist, wanting to forget the fight that had just happened.

"I love you, you know," David mumbled into your hair.

You smiled against his chest. "I love you too Charming."

"We'll get through this," he promised as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. "We'll raise this child and we will be family."

You sighed and closed your eyes, breathing in the familiar scent of your boyfriend.

"Because I'll be damned if I am losing you over this."
