03 | THE REAL LIFE DEMENTOR ATTACKS!
MATILDA STOOD NEXT to Emma outside the Sheriff station. "I can take Henry back to the hospital to get him checked and then to get something at Granny's while you solve the whole Gold thing." Matilda said to Emma.
Emma nodded at her. "Yes, thank you." Emma told her. Matilda smiled, watching Henry walk out to the two of them.
"So, where are we going now?" Henry asked Emma.
Emma turned to her son. "You are going with Matilda on a fun adventure while I finished solving this whole mess." Emma said to Henry.
"Do you want to go to Granny to get something to eat? Some Cinnamon rolls?" Matilda asked him, mentioning the usual food the two of them used to order all the time since Matilda arrived to town. Henry nodded at her. "Good. We will get going now, then." Matilda said to Emma. "Call if you find anything." She quickly added. Emma nodded at her silently promising to do so.
Emma watched as Matilda left with Henry, while David and Mary Margaret approached them. David looked at his wife who he knew was dying to talk to her daughter. "Don't push it, Snow." David warned her, but it seemed Mary Margaret was not listening at all.
"We need to talk." Mary Margaret said to Emma.
Emma looked to her mother. "I don't....I don't think this is the time. I don't want to talk." Emma said to her.
Mary Margaret sighed. "But I do. Gold can wait, but I can't. So, just hear me out." She told her. "You are my daughter...and I want to talk to you. I know that we have talked, but we didn't know that we were talking...and we talked about things probably we shouldn't have talked about. Like...one-night stands." Mary Margaret said to her.
David look at his wife. "One-night stands?" David asked her.
"Whale." Mary Margaret answered.
David's eyes widen. "Whale?" He asked her.
Mary Margaret gave a tired look to her husband. "We were cursed." Mary Margaret said to him, justifying her actions. She turned her attention back to Emma. "My point is that we did not know that we were mother and daughter. Now we do so please let's talk." Mary Margaret said to her.
Emma looked at her with tired look. "I...alright. What do you want to talk about?" Emma asked her, finally accepting since she knew Mary Margaret – or Snow White – will never stop asking her about it until she got the answer she wanted.
Mary Margaret smiled at her. "We are together, finally...and I can't help but think you are not happy about it." She told her as he eyes slowly died down.
Emma looked at her, giving her a tired look. "Oh, I'm.... but...okay, here is the thing. No matter what the circumstances, for twenty-eight years I only knew one thing...that my parents sent me away." Emma said to her.
Mary Margaret gave her a sadden look. "We did that to give you your best chance." She tried to explain.
Emma gave her a sour smile. "You did it for everyone because that's who you are. Heroes, leaders, princes and princesses...which is great and amazing...but the point is that for my entire life I have been alone." She explained.
Mary Margaret look at her. "But if I hadn't sent you away, you would have been cursed too." She added.
Emma shrugged at her. "But we would have been together. Which curse is worse?" She said to her mother.
David looked at both women, deciding it will be best to change the topic. "So, Matilda took Henry?" David asked his daughter as him and Mary Margaret followed her to Gold's shop.
Emma nodded. "Yeah. I think it's better that way." Emma answered.
"How long have you and Matilda known each other for?" David asked Emma.
Emma frowned, thinking of the answer. "Umm....well...we meant while I was still pregnant with Henry...but we started to formally two years after we met....I think." Emma said to him.
"You guys arrived here together?" David asked her.
Emma nodded at her. "Yeah, she came with me. She was the first person I called when Henry came in knocking at my door. I told her she didn't have to come, but she did anyways. She said that it will be good if I needed any help with Henry...and she has always been better with kids that I have." Emma explained to David.
. . .
Matilda smiled at Ruby as she handled both of them their cinnamon rolls and their milkshakes. "I hope you two enjoy it." Ruby said to them before walking away.
Matilda looked at Henry. "Bon appetite." Matilda said, before starting to eat her food. Henry look at his food, and then back at Matilda. The brunette sighed, looking at Henry. "You never miss an opportunity to eat a good a cinammom roll. Are you feeling okay?" Matilda asked him.
Henry looked at Matilda. "I'm worried about my mom." He said to her.
"Which one?" Matilda asked him. Henry smiled a little bit, knowing that the woman knew how much he loved both his biological mother and his adoptive mother.
"Regina." Henry answered.
"Well, I don't think anything is going to happen to her. Emma and I wouldn't let it happen." Matilda said to Henry. "Even Mary Margaret and David will eventually jump into the boat of protecting her as well since they stand for all that is right." Matilda added.
Henry smiled at her and took a bite out of his own food. "Your mother also promised to protect Regina, and she always keeps her word. The town is just mad, and it will eventually cool off with time." Matilda said to him.
"Do you think they will be mad always?" Henry asked him.
"Only time will tell." Matilda said to him. "Now, which fairy tale where we before all of this mess happened?" Matilda asked him.
Henry's smile widen, and took out his book. Ever since Henry met Matilda, he had told her stories of the characters that now lived in this town. The first time Regina and Emma fought, Matilda pulled Henry away, and asked him to read a fairy tale to her hoping it will distract the kid from the chaos. It did, and so it became a usual thing for the two of them.
. . .
Emma opened the door to Mr. Gold's shop. A man who might seemed very safe, but in reality he held such power as seen in his name The Dark One, or as people call it Rumpelstiltskin. The purple smoke that gulfed the town was his doing, just because he needed to bring magic back. He needed magic to return to his former glory as the powerful wizard.
David and Mary Margaret entered the store, following Emma. "Oh, Ms.Swan...how are you doing?" Rumpelstiltskin asked them.
Emma glared at him. "Cut the crap, Gold." Emma said to him. "You know why we are here." Emma said to him.
The man looked at Emma with a fake smile. "What can I do for you?" Rumpelstiltskin asked her.
Emma shrugged at him. "Well, you can start by telling us what you did." Emma said to him.
"You have to be more specific." Rumpelstiltskin, he replied.
Emma walked closer to him, smacking her hands-on top of the glass table, that inside showcased the antiques that belonged to the wizard. "You know damn well what we are talking about." Emma said to him.
Mary Margaret walked closer to the wizard. "You double crossed-Emma, you took your potion from her." She said, looking at the man.
"And worst of all you risked Henry's life." Emma said to him.
Rumpelstiltskin, walked around the table. "Well, that is quite the list, dearie." He said to her. "Are you looking for answers?" Rumpelstiltskin asked her.
Emma clenched her jaw. "Maybe I don't need answers, maybe I just need to punch you in the face." Emma said to him.
Rumpelstiltskinwalked closer to Emma, shaking his head. "Allow me to answer some of your questions with my own." Rumpelstiltskin said to her."Did your dear boy, Henry, survived? Is the curse broken? And let's see, Ms.Swan. How long have you been searching for your parents?" Rumpelstiltskin told her. Emma sighed, nodding along the question."I think that rather a punch in the face, I deserve a thank you." He added.
Emma gave him a sarcastic smile. "Twist all my words however you want them. What was the purple haze that you bought?" Emma asked him.
"Magic." Rumpelstiltskin answered.
"Why?" Mary Margaret asked him.
Rumpelstiltskinshrugged. "Not telling. Not telling any of you, in fact nobody." Rumpelstiltskin, he answered her. Rumpelstiltskin stayed calmly as the ground shook along with the walls of the store. The wind seemed to magically pick itself up, and the lights flickered.
"What was that?" Emma asked Rumpelstiltskin.
The looked at her. "That's my gift to you. That is going to take care of Regina." Rumpelstiltskin answered. It was not that mainly a gift, after hearing that the woman had locked up the love of his wife in a cell, he wanted vengace and it was condience that it suited both him and Emma.
"I'm not done." Emma said to him. David and Mary Margaret ran out of the store, trying to get to where Regina was on time because her life ended.
Rumpelstiltskinnodded at her. "You still own me a favor. And send regards to Matilda from my part." Rumpelstiltskin said to Emma. The blonde left, following her parents' steps.
. . .
Matilda walked inside the town hall. The brunette left Henry with Ruby and Granny while she went to help Emma out. Matilda was watching a film with Henry when Emma called her, debriefing her of the problem at hand. The brunette was more than willing to help her out.
Matilda looked at Regina and Emma who were quietly talking. "Did Henry really asked you to protect me?" Regina asked Emma.
However, the blonde did not answer. Instead she just kept her eyes glued to the hat that was on Regina's hands. "The hat. You had it all along." Emma said to her, remembering the man she had heard "That's Jefferson's hat." Emma said to Regina.
"Whose Jefferson?" Regina asked her.
"As in the guy who almost poisoned you? The one that a room full of hats?" Matilda asked Emma. The blonde nodded.
Regina put her hair strands behind her ears. "That's beside the point." Regina said, bring the attention back into the problem. "It will open a portal to our land. All we have to do is send the wraith in there." Regina said to her.
Matilda looked at Regina. "What are we fighting now?" Matilda asked her.
"A wraith. It's a creature who sucks your soul. Until there is nothing left of it." Regina said to her.
Matilda looked at Emma and then at Regina. "So, like a real life dementor?" Matilda asked. Regina looked at her with a confused face while Emma nodded at her.
"Something like that." Emma answered. Matilda looked at her with wide eyes. "And we can't kill it because it's already dead, so we are sending it someplace else." Emma explained to Matilda. Emma looked down at Regina, who had knelt down to the floor. "How does the portal open?" Emma asked her.
Regina pushed the hat in circle but it is no use. "Where are we sending this thing?" Matilda asked Regina.
"To our land." Regina answered her.
Mary Margaret and David entered the room, holding brooms and a lighter. "I thought you were taking care of Henry." Mary Margaret told Matilda when he saw her.
"Well, Emma called." Matilda said to her as she gave a slight smile to Emma.
David walked to Regina. "I don't understand. I thought our land was gone. You said so yourself." David said to her. Minutes prior to this, when he had asked her why nobody had returned when the curse was broken the woman had answered that it was because there was nothing to go back to.
Regina looked at David from over her shoulder. "It is, but by sending it to a place it no longer exists it's banishing it to oblivion." Regina explained to David.
Matilda looked at Regina. "It can't hurt anybody else so it sounds good to me." She said to her. Matilda stiffen when she saw the lights flicker. The door rattled loudly, before it opened harshly by the wraith.
"Regina." Mary Margaret worriedly called out, seeing the creature open the door. Matilda's blood ran cold as she watched it tilt its head towards its prey.
"I'm trying." Regina snapped at Mary Margaret.
"Is it just me or that thing just looks like a real life dementor?" Matilda asked, looking at the incoming creature. "It's a goddamn dementor don't tell it is not!" Matilda told Emma, watching it come closer. Snow passed Matilda a light up broom. The brunette, moved the broom to the creature and it moved trying to avoid it. "Don't you dare come near me, dementor!" Matilda said, hitting it again.
While her, Snow and David were trying to distract the wraith, Regina was trying to open the portal; but how can someone open the portal without magic?
Emma knelt next to Regina. "It's not working." Regina told Emma. Emma put a supporting hand on her shoulder. In a blink of an eye, the hat started to spin quickly. Matilda looked at the hat, watching it has purple smoke come out before turning around in circle along with the hat.
Regina stood up, sighing in accomplishment. However, when Emma saw how the wraith launched itself towards Regina, the blonde was quick to respond and dragged the witch down to the floor.
The accomplishment was soon lived when the wraith in an attempt to survive the portal, took a hold of Emma's feet. Matilda ran to her aid, holding her hand tightly. "Emma!" Matilda screamed, as she tried to hold her. David tried to reach her but he can't. Instead he just stood there watching how Matilda was dragged down with Emma.
"I'm not losing my daughter again." Mary Margaret said to her husband before jumping into the portal. David ran, jumping towards the portal just to crash into the hard floor. The portal had closed.
