Chapter 30: Mirrors

"Child, if you doubt that miracles can happen, just look in the mirror and see your own magic."
~Unknown~

Fury.

That burning flame that seeps in your heart, heating it to the boiling point then spilling its hot contents in your system. It needs release, to be able to cool down.

I, need release.

The release could be done in two ways; Being outrageous and being silent.

In my case, I was silent.

But, silent fury is more deadly.

It's the calm before the storm.

The warning before an attack.

Like the seemingly disappearing footsteps of a villain that's slowly nearing you.

Or,

The peaceful swim of a fish before a seagull claws on it ferociously.

I sat by my designated seat in the arena silently, watching the two opposite gates of the arena open widely, showing the two princes of the land.

Taehyung emerged from the shadows, his body clad in a beautiful blue and silver armory. His surprisingly huge arms are revealed by the lack of fabric making him appear bigger than he usually looks. A few ladies gawked seeing the younger prince's built up physique, chanting praises repeatedly. The armor he's wearing was similar with the palace guards' but the helmet he wore, the color difference and the uniquely engraved flower on his armor screams the he stands a higher position than the rest of the men in the castle. The cream gloves with golden knitted patterns covered his hands that's holding a golden bow while the matching golden arrows where packed up, latched on his back. His face displayed no emotion as he walked his way to his designated position.

The same goes for his elder brother.

Jimin, on the other side, had his chin held high, a defiant smirk plastered on his lips. He's dressed in a blazing red and gold armory, completely different from his brother. He appeared slimmer than his younger brother but he reminds me of a stealth soldier. Someone that could slaughter his enemy with grace and power in a swift motion. The armor looks more grand and royal than his brother's. His helmet is similar to Taehyung's but a see-through fabric covers most of his face, enough to show the smirk engraved on his lips. The flower engraved on his armor is the same as Taehyung's but it has a crown on top. A familiar silver sword was on his hold, the one he used to threaten the captain's life with, and a shield that has the same details as the armor itself. It must've been the late king's armory.

The two brother's met at the center of the arena where the general of the castle made them bow to each other before asking them to step back a meter away from the center.

"Today, we will witness the drawl between the two princes of this land!" The general announced loudly. "One will fall and one will prevail! A fight for the king's throne and a beautiful maiden! The fight between prince charming and the beast! Now!"

The people in the arena roared once Jimin started charging at his younger brother, swinging his silver sword skillfully while Taehyung tried to take as much distance as he could away from his brother to release his arrows.

I watched as Jimin continuously stepped forward, making Taehyung take steps backwards as he continuously try to block each swing Jimin does. If he goes on like this, Jimin could have him trapped by a wall and that would be a quick ending to this fight, Jimin conquering the fight immediately.

Taehyung, upon realizing his elder brother's tactics immediately ducked his head delivering a harsk kick at Jimin, sending the other flying backwards from the unexpected movement done to him. The younger prince sends an arrow targeting his brother's weapon that immediately got struck, flying away from Jimin's hold.

Taehyung sent a set of three arrows towards his brother, making the shield in Jimin's grasps tumble away from him too. They were in a quiet far distance and Jimin stood powerless at the other side with no weapon at his hold unlike his brother who's ready to shoot an arrow at any moment.

I thought it was the end for Jimin but his next move surprised me and everyone else. He charged towards his brother running diagonally, making Taehyung's arrows missed him by a hair. When he was close enough, he kicked the bow away from Taehyung's hold and delivered another kick to Taehyung's chest making Taehyung lost his balance, thus, falling on the ground. From his sleeve, a dagger emerged and he pointed it at his brother's neck.

"Surrender." I saw Jimin mouthed, looking down at his brother.

Taehyung's hands moved to his sides raising a little before one of his hands mustered to throw a strong punch at his brother's flawless face, sending Jimin falling away from him.

Taehyung sat up, hovering over his brother, sending punch after punch to his brother's shocked form. The gloves made the punches weaker but it's still enough to send firm ones.

I averted my gaze away from them once Taehyung stood up, the general congratulating his achievement.

He tried to lock eyes with me but I busied myself scanning my surroundings.

Out of the blue, five pouches was thrown in the arena and upon its landing on the ground, it emitted a thick smoke, covering the whole place.

I was trying to see through the thick smoke when someone tugged my arm towards them, getting me away from where I was seated a few moments ago. I tried to break free from the grasp but it tightened painfully before a hand covered my mouth, preventing me to speak.

I let the unknown person pull me away from the arena until we reached the outside of it. Once outside, I immediately recognized the unknown person as the huntsman.

"Seokjin? Why are you suddenly pulling me out of there?" I asked.

"We don't have time for this, señorita." The huntsman stated, continuing to pull me with him towards the now somewhat familiar passage going to the sorcerer's study.

Upon our arrival at the said place, the mahogany doors opened, revealing the sorcerer himself. He ushered us inside locking the door behind him, before turning to us two.

"Quick, before they notice that you've been gone." He commands making me furrow my brows in disorientation.

"Quick what?" I asked clueless.

"Wear this, señorita." The huntsman said, pushing a foreign fabric in my arms.

"For what?" I asked, still baffled.

"We're going to get you out of here." The sorcerer explained. "Now, wear those clothes so you can leave as quick as possible and find the magical lamp you need to get back to your land."

I nodded quickly and started to get out when the sorcerer blocked my way. I raised my eyebrow, confused at his sudden interruption.

"Where are you going?" He asked, seriousness laced in his tone.

"To the bathroom? To change?" I answered, feeling unsure of my next moves.

"Change here. The huntsman and I will turn our backs. We won't peek. We don't want to risk you getting caught while heading out of the comfort room." The sorcerer stated, signaling the huntsman to turn his back at me and so did he.

I took a large intake of breath before cautiously undressing myself. I've never undressed myself in a room with a man before and having two men in the room while I do the did feels like I'm going for a taboo that I never knew I would have gone for.

I didn't once peel my eyes off the two men inside the room, startling at every shift of foot they did every now and then. Once finished dressing up, I cleared my throat telling the two males that I'm all settled and ready to go on in my journey.

They turned my way and the sorcerer smiled almost pridefully at me while the huntsman looked seriously still.

"If I hadn't known any better, I'd say you're somewhat related to the sorcerer." The huntsman commented, causing the sorcerer to shake his head repeatedly.

"Well, the robe made her looked like a enchantress but I would rather prefer to call her a goddess." The sorcerer stated, proudly smiling while scanning my dressed up self.

I was dressed in a one shoulder purple dress that ends just before my toes, a high slit at the right that displays my right thigh. It was simple, the design was no more than anything extravagant but the look the two grown men is giving me is enough to make me feel uneasy with the attire.

The sorcerer nodded my way, before walking towards the familiar shelf where the secret passage is hidden in. The huntsman and I then followed behind him, immediately.

Arriving at the secret room of the sorcerer, he ushered the huntsman and I to stand infront of the large circular vintage mirror.

"When you get through that mirror, it will send you directly to where the hatter lives in Evergreen. The hatter and the captain is waiting for you there so be quick. Get going now."
The sorcerer ordered and the huntsman quickly nodded pushing a hand through the magical mirror before completely passing through the whole thing.

When it was my turn to go, I turned back to see the sorcerer watching me with a confused expression.

"Why aren't you going? You need to go now! The guards must be on their way to catch you." The sorcerer reminded.

"Aren't you coming with us?" I asked, recalling yesterday's events.

The sorcerer shook his head. "The castle needs me. If the princes didn't get into a fight, I would've come but the situation right now in the palace isn't good. The people need me." The sorcerer explained.

Nodding my head in understanding, I dashed towards the sorcerer to hug him tightly. "Thank you for everything." I mumbled, my head buried on his chest.

"It's nothing, darling." The sorcerer mused, combing a hand in my hair before letting go.

Giving him one last smile, I turned around, taking a deep breath, walking through the magical mirror.

The sorcerer's lips curled upwards once Y/N passed through the magical mirror. He chuckled to himself, flicking his fingers which made the mirror suddenly form a smoke like face that smiled at the sorcerer deviously.

"What can I do for you, my lord?" The face in the mirror asked the man standing before it.

"Show me the twins." The sorcerer ordered, eyes glowing whiter than it is.

"Right away then, my lord." The mirror mused before it disappears, white mist clouding itself. After a while, there emerged two silhouettes of two adult men.

The taller silhouette appears to be finding a way out of the smoky area but the smaller one appears to be readying himself to attack. Once the taller seemed to turn away from the smaller one, the smaller one pounced itself at the taller one grabbing unto him then they both fell to the ground.

The sorcerer raised his sceptre, white light emitting from the diamond stone attached to it and the smoke surrounding the silhouettes disappear as fast as lightning.

There appeared the youngest prince, unmoving and still as stones, his bare hand holding unto his elder brother's neck whose now turned into a still golden statue, forever.

The sorcerer's sceptre glowed sucking the information of the events that's happening before him. The images of the princes disappeared and Namjoon had a satisfied smile tugging on his plump lips at what he had witnessed in his magical mirror.

Taehyung's face paled seeing the golden statue of his brother just before him, his right hand wrapped on his neck while his brother's hands are holding on it, making it seem like he had him on a choke hold.

His lifeless form was before him and he couldn't help but look at his brother's eyes, searching for any source of life in them.

"J-Jimin...." He whispered, his lips stuttering at the loss for words.

"Oh Great Heavens! What have you done to the supposedly crowned prince?!" An elderly woman screamed in shock, passing out after.

All the people surrounding Taehyung looked at him and his brother that's now a golden statue and they cowered in fear.

"Monster!" One of the maids screamed, terrified at the sight.

"He can't be king! He'll kill all of us!" One duke yelled and all the others agreed.

The general approached Taehyung's bewildered form with slow calculated steps trying to not get the subject alarmed. "Your Majesty, this is treason." He said, calmly. "You needed to be held inside the castle's dungeon for the safety of all your people. And, if the higher ups would all agree, you'd need to be executed for killing your elder brother, the supposedly king."

"N-no. It's not what it looks like. J-Jimin lunged at me and—" He was cut off by a voice that held much more authority.

"Rules are rules, my prince. You won and you still killed your brother. I order your execution tomorrow midnight." The sorcerer stated, emerging from the backs of the audience.

"Namjoon." Taehyung pleaded, snatching his bare hand from the statue's hold. "You'd know what really happened. Please. This is not righteous."

The sorcerer's eyes flickered, raising his sceptre, images appeared before them all and the people watched in absolute terror seeing Taehyung strangling his brother, removing one of his gloved hands before wrapping it around his brother's neck, turning Jimin into a golden statue immediately. The images vanished and the people all stepped back when the youngest prince stood, trying to walk towards the sorcerer's direction.

"That's not what happened!" He yelled in fury and betrayal.

"He's a heartless beast!" Someone from the crowd yelled and all the others agreed.

"Namjoon, I don't know what you're sceptre showed but—" Taenyung was cut off again.

"My sceptre showed what it knew." The sorcerer grimly stated. "Guards seize the beast."

All the guards charged towards Taehyung and tried to get a hold of him but he fought them, resulting to one of them turning into a golden statue and the other's backing away.

"Beast!" All the people in the crowd yelled pointing at Taehyung.

The youngest prince looked terrified, seeing the guard turn into a golden statue, before realizing that everyone in the arena is against him. He slowly backed away, taking a sprint towards one of the gates in the arena.

The sorcerer stood in the middle of the crowd, feeling satisfaction at its highest level once again that day.

"My dearest people, I think we shall now talk about the new ruler of this land now that the previous rulers seemed to have failed to do their job." One duke stated and all the other's agreed.

Stepping forward, the sorcerer raised his head, eyes glowing.

"I, Kim Namjoon, would be much pleased to rule over all of you, my people, my army."
