Chapter 26: Stories
"Some stories are incomplete but they are beautiful."
~Avijeet Das~
"What are you doing, sweetheart?" My lover asked, his tall form towering my body as he stood beside me on our shared bed for the rest of the week.
"The usual." I answered, sparing a subtle glance at him, my lips morphing into a small smile. "I'm reading a novel."
"From your phone?" My lover queried, a tone of suspicion laced in his voice. "Or you're texting that punk—"
"Wattpad and webtoon exists, sweetheart." I chuckled, putting my phone away to fully face the man I love. "If you didn't forbid me to bring a book or to go to a library while we stay here, I wouldn't busy myself reading novels from my phone." I continued, an amused smile now plastered on my face. "Besides, why would I be texting Raze this late at night?" I asked, my gaze falling to the digital clock on my lover's bedside table, reading 10:45 pm.
My lover scoffed dramatically. "Now, you're on first name basis? I swear that guy was only working in my company for two weeks while it took me a year to convince you to call me Jungkook because you somehow grew fond of calling me Mr. Jeon."
I giggled, letting my head fall unto the pillows. "Raze is engaged, Jungkook." I spilled out, a blush present on my face. "And I like your surname."
My lover's scornful look morphed into a devious one after I said those words. "You make me jealous then you do that?" My lover laughed, his laugh making my heart flutter. "You have no idea what's going on in my head right now, sweetheart."
My lover's galaxy eyes met mine and I was yet again surprised because of how expressive they are. He's once again luring me to the beautiful paradise that only he who knows.
Gulping the lump that I didn't know was present in my throat, I tried to play with the fire that seems to ignite in the atmosphere. "Then mind sharing what's on your mind, sweetheart?" I asked, prolonging the endearment that sweetly come out of my tongue.
My lover smirked, his eyes reflecting the desire his soul is yearning for. Then in the blink of an eye, he was already hovering over my body, the duvet being the only thing separating the heat coming out of our bodies. He caught my hand, lacing our fingers together, his other free hand caressing my cheek lovingly, opposite to the raging fire of desire swimming in his galaxy orbs.
"You could have my surname, sweetheart." My lover whispered lowly, sending fireworks to erupt in the pit of my stomach and my heart to palpitate in a speed that could beat a race car. "But you have to tie the knot with me first."
Pushing all the raging hormones I felt aside, I rolled my eyes playfully, shoving his hard chest. "We're too young to get married, Jungkook. We still don't know what the future holds for us. One day or another we could break up and go separate ways. Plus, we just started dating like six months ago? We still—"
"Blah blah blah. You and your rational thoughts." My lover mocked, shifting the duvet aside to lay beside me on his side of the bed. He unlaced our fingers and pulled me closer to him by my waist, his long legs tangling with mine. One of his arms sneaked its way under my head to act as a pillow and the other free arm wrapping securely around my waist, fingers drawing small circles in my lower stomach.
"I oftentimes thought of making you pregnant then forcing you to marry me." My lover whispered, his hot breath tickling my nape. "But then, there's only fifty percent chance you'd forgive me and we'll have our happily ever after."
Raising a brow, I caught the hand that's playing in my lower stomach, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Only fifty percent? Why?"
My lover brought me closer, his chin resting on my head. "Only fifty. The other fifty because," He paused, sighing a little, "One, you're someone who believes in women supremacy. Even if I get you pregnant and demand for us to marry, you'd straight up reject everything and tell me about all the single mothers who managed to raise their kids without the help of a man."
"Two, I swore to Mrs. Bang and to your older brother that I will take care of you and if I do that, I would be doing the opposite."
"Last, because you made me promise to not taint your purity because you want to gift it to the man who you will spend the rest of your life with." My lover huffed. "Honestly, that's the most difficult one when you look so innocent everytime you're in my arms and I just want to do things to you, your mother can't even imagine."
Chuckling to myself, I shifted a little so I could face my lover. Our noses touched, and our breathes fanned each other's face while doing so. "I'm glad you keep promises, sweetheart."
My lover hummed before kissing my forehead. "Well, because your lover keeps his promises close to his heart, can you answer his question honestly and sincerely?"
"What question?" I asked.
"Can you atleast imagine the future with me as your loving husband?"
A man was peacefully laying on top of a bunk bed, letting out soft snores. However, his sleep was disturbed when someone barged inside the room he's sleeping in.
"Jeon! Wake up! It's freaking morning and you're ordered to guard the princess!" The man's roommate angrily yelled, seeing the man on the top of the bunk bed still dead as a rock.
Seeing his roommate completely still, he checked if he was still breathing. Thankfully, the man was just asleep and not dead. Hot smoke left his nostrils as he decided to wake the man using the thing only he who knows. He climbed on the top bunk and removed the blanket that's covering the man's bare body underneath. Sighing, he uttered a quick prayer before pinching the man's nipples.
Jungkook's eyes opened wide, his face scrunching in pain, feeling someone pinching him in one of his sensitive areas. Suddenly, in the flash of the second, sleep was no longer lingering in his system.
He scanned the man hovering above him. The man was absolutely handsome but he doesn't recognize him one bit. The man was a complete stranger in his eyes and what he previously did just invaded his personal space.
Shoving the man harshly that caused the man to fall on his back with a loud thud, Jungkook jumped from the top bunk getting into a defensive stance.
'Fucking try anything and I'll teach you what a black belt in Taekwondo means' He thought, watching the stranger hiss in annoyance while he tries to recover from the fall.
The stranger glared at Jungkook, his luscious lips forming a pout. "This is the last time I'd wake you up, kangaroo! Better have you fired on your job than have my bones all crushed! I'm getting old, Jeon! You can't shove me everytime I wake you up! In this case, I'd die earlier and I can't have that! I'd look so ugly with fractured bones!" The stranger scolded, holding his lower back in pain.
Jungkook was confused. This stranger was talking like he knew him like the back of his hand but he could swear that it's the first time he saw the man. Also, have him fired in his job? Wasn't he the one who's responsible in firing his workers?
"I'm sorry to sound inconsiderate but do I know you? Have we met before?" Jungkook asked, his eyes scanning the room. "Is this your place? Did I accidentally barged into your house while I was drunk last night?"
The man that was continuously complaining earlier stopped, his jaw opening in shock. "Did you really go nuts because that woman you grew infatuated with, became the princess?"
The man abruptly stood, approaching Jungkook in a haze but Jungkook stopped him with his glare and stance. "Don't come any closer." Jungkook growled.
The man gulped. "I-it's Seokjin. I'm your roommate. We're palace guards and you're appointed as the princess' personal guard as of today."
Jungkook's brows furrowed in confusion. "Roommates? Guards? Are you sure that you're telling the truth? I swear, if you are lying straight to my face, I'll not hesitate to break your bones."
Seokjin chuckled nervously. "You're kidding right? I'm sorry if you are in pain because your woman married the prince—"
Jungkook cut him off. "I'm a fucking CEO! And what do you mean my woman married the prince? She's—"
"Look outside." Seokjin interjected making Jungkook's frown deepen.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Seokjin passed by Jungkook's form and opened the door behind him, showing the outside world.
Curiously, Jungkook peered behind the man's shoulder only to witness the distinct place compare to the land where he grew up. He was astonished, not believing that what he's currently seeing was his reality.
"This is a dream." He mumbled, closing his eyes, wishing to wake up as soon as possible.
"This is not, Jeon. You just woke up and this is a dream? You better be quick and get your miserable ass to where the princess' is or I swear, you will not be able to watch the sunrise tomorrow." Seokjin scolded, shoving a clothing similar to his on Jungkook's arms.
Still confused, Jungkook decided to follow along to what the seemingly elder man said and dressed himself into the clothing he was provided.
Once dressed, he glanced at the mirror standing beside the door, chuckling at himself.
'Who knows I'd look good in this odd 1800's clothes?' He thought, trying different poses.
"I'm heading out." He announced only to be greeted by silence. Sighing to himself, he took note that Seokjin might have left while he was dressing himself.
Walking outside, he was again greeted by the unfamiliar surroundings and he contemplated whether he will obliged to what Seokjin said or stay where he is as he doesn't have any clue where the said 'princess' is.
"She's in the garden." A sudden voice stated, making Jungkook flinch.
Turning towards the voice, he saw a man dressed in fancy clothes. His orbs presenting the colors of the rainbow.
"Pardon?" Jungkook mused.
The man laughed heartily. "The princess is in the garden. I heard that you're the personal guard so your subject is in the garden."
"Can you escort me there Mr....?" Jungkook trailed off not knowing what to call the man infront of him.
"It's Hoseok. We've met before, Jungkook," Hoseok chimed, "Something's off with you today." Hoseok commented.
Smiling awkwardly, Jungkook shook his head. "Maybe it's just the liquors I've downed yesterday. Don't worry, I'd be over it before the sun goes down."
Hoseok nodded, revealing a perfect set of white teeth. "Well then, let's go meet my special person!" Hoseok happily giggled, skipping merrily towards the garden.
'Special person?' Jungkook thought, shrugging, he followed where the seemingly overjoyed man towards the direction he is guiding him to.
They walked for atleast ten minutes before they were greeted with the scent of soil and flowers. Rows and rows of wisteria covered the place, hanging from the walls and different kinds of flowers bloom uniformly in the place. The garden was big and at the middle of it were built in chairs with a table, where a lady is sitting, her back facing Jungkook and Hoseok. Jungkook automatically thought that the woman is the princess.
"Honey!" Hoseok called, dashing towards the sitting woman.
'Honey? Is that guy the prince?' Jungkook thought, watching as Hoseok run towards the woman. Yet, before he could reach her, someone stood infront of him, blocking his way.
"Hatter, how many times do I need to remind you that you should quit calling her that? She's already married to me!" The man who blocked Hoseok complained.
Upon all the men that Jungkook saw today, this man is absolutely the most good-looking. Ofcourse, he doesn't know who's the man that might claim as someone he knows once again, but something about his aura and posture gives Jungkook the idea that the man is the prince.
"Taehyung, don't be so harsh with Hoseok. He's just being sweet."
That voice made Jungkook froze. His eyes directed to the woman who stood from her seat, revealing the familiar face of his lover.
The woman smiled sweetly at Hoseok before her eyes fell on Taehyung. She stood on her toes and planted a quick peck on his lips making the once annoyed man smile in delight.
Jungkook watched their exchange in horror. He could feel his lungs squeezing itself not letting him breath and his heart beating hardly as if it's trying to break itself. It was painful and everything he felt reflected on his eyes.
Y/N's eyes fell on Jungkook and she frowned, walking towards her friend. Every step she take forward, Jungkook takes two steps back.
Tears fell from Jungkook's eyes blurring his vision and that caused him to stumble on his feet, almost falling over but Y/N was quick to hold him, preventing him from the fall.
"What's wrong?" Y/N's usually calming voice asked but it now feels like a stab to Jungkook's heart.
Wiping his tears harshly, Jungkook yanked himself from Y/N's hold, the betrayal of his lover making him angry and sad at the same time.
"Why would you k-kiss him?" Jungkook asked, wanting to know the reason of the said deed.
Y/N looked at him for a while before laughing. "I thought we sort this out already?"
"W-what?" Jungkook questioned, feeling annoyed.
Y/N rolled her eyes, shoving Jungkook playfully. "Don't you remember? You already accepted my marriage with Taehyung. You just wanted to be my personal guard from now on so you could still protect me. We made that agreement yesterday, you fool." Y/N teased.
Jungkook's world felt like it's crumbling before his eyes at that moment. 'He agreed to his lover's marriage with an unknown man? Definitely stupid.'
"This is definitely a dream." Jungkook chuckled halfheartedly. "I should wake up in a few."
Y/N snickered. "Silly, this is not a dream, Jungkook."
"Then what should I call this?!" Jungkook asked bewildered.
Y/N approached Jungkook and he watched her as she place her hand on his chest, where his heart is beating rapidly because of the scene he just witness.
"This..."
"Is a Nightmare."
Jungkook woke up with a jolt. He looked around him and recognize that he was in his bedroom. Empty bottles of soju and beer still scattered on the floor, a few ones, shattered.
He's covered in sweat and tears were falling from his eyes. The foul smell lingering in his room is making him nauseous. Bringing his head into his hands, he sighed, tears falling without the intention to stop.
"What's happening to our story, Sweetheart?"
