Pear

1 week and 3 days left..

//Your POV//

It's been a week since the whole Alex incident and things had been getting slower.

David announced the day before that the Lake Lilac Social, which was supposed to be in 2 days, had been cancelled.

I was a little bummed out, but there was nothing we could do about it.

David cancelled it since there wasn't enough of a budget this year and the thing with Alex didn't help at all.

It was raining and since it was a Saturday, we had off from activities, we were all a little bored since we couldn't go outside.

Neil and I were looking through the cabinet looking for something to do while the others were just floating around.

"How about a bored game?" Neil asked.

"Sure, why not?" I shrugged.

We sat the box in front of Nikki and Jaiden, who were waiting for us at a table.

I walked over to Max who was sitting on the floor by himself (for some unknown reason) and Neil followed.

"Hey Max, want to play a game with us?" Neil asked him.

"Life is a game and the only way to win is to die," Max scoffed, not even facing us.

"I've got Monopoly," I told him.

"That'll work," He stood up and turned to us.

We all walked back over to the table and sat down and soon started playing.

After a while, Neil was in the lead with the most money and businesses while Max was close on his tail in Second Place.

Nikki was chewing on her business cards, "Love me some ink in the morning, fellas."

"Nikki, you'll get sick. Don't eat those," Jaiden scolded her.

And with that, she swallowed all the paper mush into one gulp, "Too late."

I chuckled slightly, thinking to myself.

"Are you alright, Y/n?" Neil asked quizzically.

"Yeah, I'm good. Neil, how the hell are you so good at this game??" I looked over at all his business cards.

"Eh, just some calculating."

"So, nerd shit?" Max smirked smugly.

"No, Max. You need this 'nerd shit' in the real world," Neil made air quotes.

"Okay, nerd."

"Jackass," Neil scoffed.

"I think it's very intellectual, Neil," Said Jaiden, sort of being a suck-up.

"Thanks Jaiden. At least someone here respects me," Neil rolled his eyes.

"We respect you, Neil. Just deep down, not very showy," I smiled.

"Thanks, Y/n. Oh lookie here, you stepped onto my business. Pay me 50 m's."

I looked down to my money, realized I only had a 50 bill, realizing I was about to go bankrupt.

"Never mind what I just said, I fucking hate your ass," I reluctantly handed him the 50.

—Time Skip—

By the time it was dusk, the rain had stopped.

I walked outside and stretched, "Finally! I was waiting for all this stupid rain to end!"

"Yeah, it was getting pretty boring in there," Max pointed to the Mess Hall with his thumb.

"Ugh..I don't feel too good," Nikki gripped her stomach.

"Well you at like 15 cards, Nikki, what did you expect?" Asked Jaiden, who rolled her eyes.

I looked over to see her wrist shaking, which made me realize her Parkinson's is acting up.

"Yo, Jai, Pear?."

"Yeah. We'll be right back guys," Jaiden nodded.

Pear is our cover word for when she's having a Parkinson's fit.

Jaiden wanted to use a cover word since she admitted she's embarrassed by Parkinson's.

Everyone else looked at each other, confused at what "Pear" meant.

I wheeled Jaiden to her tent and sat her down onto her cot, "Breathing exercises, Jai."

I took out her meds and a water that was on the floor.

This time she took her medicine without resistance, most likely knowing she needed them.

"*sigh* I hate it, Y/n," Jaiden sighed, putting her head on her hands.

"I know."

"It's just...scary."

"It's gonna be okay, Jai. I swear," I wrapped an arm around her, "I'll always be there for ya."

"Thanks, Y/n."

———

I'm sorry this is so late, guys.

I had a fever yesterday, 104 degrees (Fahrenheit) tops.

I didn't go to school today so I got to finish this.

Look, I fucked up.

I still don't know if this is canon or not but you know how I made Max a Latino? Yeah, now he's half Indian, so yippee, I guess.

See ya
