Morning, Kitty
It feels great to be out of a writers block!!
//Your POV//
I woke up, surprised at the fact I was in my room.
'Was the camp...Max...just a dream?'
I then remembered all that happened yesterday.
'Oh..never mind.'
I got out of my bed and checked my phone, that was plugged in an outlet.
It was 7AM, so no one besides maybe my mom was up.
I quietly got out of my room (hoping not to wake up Max) and went downstairs, sliding down the banister like Mary Poppins.
Nobody was downstairs so I felt a little lonely.
I noticed that my bag was on the counter so I pulled out Alice in Wonderland and started reading it.
"Hey look, Alice is up."
I looked up to see my mom, mug in hand.
"Mornin' Ma."
She sat down next to me at the breakfast counter on a stool.
"So. How's life been, kiddo?" She asked me.
"I dunno, fine I guess?" I shrugged.
My Mom quickly glared at the stairs and back at me.
There was a stupid grin on her face.
'Wait..I know that look..oh fuck.'
"Give it to me straight kiddo, you two have a thing?"
"No."
"Really? I beg to differ. The way he carried you last night gave me some signals," She insisted.
"Mom. No."
"He is totally into you. What about you?"
"*Sigh* I do like him, but I think you're assuming a little too much," I admitted, "He would probably just want to be friends."
"Y/n-"
"As much as I want it to work out, it probably won't. Life doesn't work that way," I interrupted her.
I rested my elbows on the counter and rested my head in my palms, massaging my temples with my thumbs.
My mom rubbed my back, "Y/n, Listen to me."
I looked up at her, her face serious.
"Remember that point when Alice felt like all hope was lost and she thought she could never go home?"
"Y-Yeah?" I stuttered, starting to cry a little.
"And Remember that she was able to get passed everything anyways, as long as she believed in herself."
"I have a feeling where this is going, but yeah."
"Then, my dear Alice, overcoming your fear is indeed possible! As long as you don't lose hope, you'll do alright, kiddo."
"Maybe. Thanks mom."
"I'm the coolest, I know."
"And Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for being so nice to Max. I heard you guys talking last night," I smiled.
"Oh, erm, your welcome?" She seemed confused, "Of course I'd be nice, he seems like a good kid."
"He just...has a tough life, that's all."
"What is it?" She inquired.
"Well...his parents don't really..love him."
"That's absurd! How could his parents not love their own child?!" She yell-whispered.
"I don't know. I feel bad for him, yet he says I shouldn't worry about him, but it's so hard not to."
"Y/n, you're such a great kid, you know why?"
"Why and how is this relevant?"
"You show so much empathy and the amount you give is rare, you cry tears for others when you haven't shed a tear for yourself. I'm really proud."
"Oh..thanks."
"You should wake him up now. It's 8 and I want to get a head start to Camp Campbell," My mom told me.
"Alright."
I put the book back in my bag and walked up the stairs.
I knocked softly on the door and opened up the door a little bit.
Max was still sleeping, the sheets kicked off of him, and actually smiling in his sleep.
'Why does he have to be so fucking adorable at times?'
I felt bad waking him up, but it had to be done.
I tip-toed towards him and tapped him lightly on his shoulder.
"Yo, Max," I whispered.
"Hngggg..."
I tapped him a little more.
"5 more minutes," He whined.
"Come on mate, we have to get going. You can sleep in the car."
He opened his eyes, and sat up.
"Oh. Morning, kitty," He snickered.
"Oh shut up," I pushed him down by the forehead.
I left him to do his business and went to my room to change.
I put on a T-shirt with stars and the quote "Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite."
(If you get the reference, you're awesome. Here's a hint if you don't; it's from a book.)
I also put on short, blue denim jeans and my black converse.
I went downstairs and saw Max with his usual sweatshirt and jeans, with a yellow shirt peeking out of the collar of his sweatshirt.
I slid down the banister again earning a disapproving glare from my mom, "Kiddo, If ya keep doin' that you're gonna crack yer skull open."
Before I could say anything, the door bell rang.
My mom opened it and her face lit up.
"Ayyy what up sis!" I heard a familiar voice.
I instantly knew who it was from the New York City accent.
In came my uncle, Sam, his hair and peach fuzz beard dyed a cool white, crystal blue eyes and his zip-up, dark blue, jacket with fake fur on the hood, Black basketball shorts and black vans.
(Guess who I'm referencing now?)
"Uncle Sam!" I ran up to him and hugged him.
"Heya, Shrimp!" He gave me his usual nickname for being short, "I've missed ya, kid."
"Samuel, you didn't tell me you'd stop by," My mom put her hands on her hips.
"Well, I'm full of surprises, aren't I?" He chuckled.
He looked over to Max who was just standing there with his hands in his pockets, "Heya pal, howzitgoin?"
"Um..hi?" Max raised his eyebrows.
"The names Sam, Y/n's Cool Uncle."
"I'm Max."
"We were just heading up to Sleepy Peak now to bring these two rebels back to camp," My mom told him.
Sam snickered, "You two sneak out? Pretty rad if I say so myself!"
"Don't encourage them, Samuel," My mom scolded him.
I got a great idea.
"Uncle Sam, why don't you join us?! It'll be super fun with you there!" I suggested.
"Eh, why not? Got nothin' to do anyways," He shrugged, "'Long as Max can handle puns."
I looked at Max and he just shrugged.
"Alright, So now I have to get McDonald's for 3 people," My mom sighed sarcastically, making Sam and I laugh.
Max was quiet.
I didn't really get why.
'Maybe he's just tired,' I thought.
After 10 minutes of getting our shit together, we all hopped in my mom's pickup truck and went on our merry way.
