Campers Received

Yes, this song was used in another Max X Reader I read, I bet the author wouldn't mind and also if they're reading this, then I should tell them that this story is inspired by their story and yes I switched the ages to 13-14 so this wasn't weird.

⚠️One more thing is that Your best friend has Parkinson's Disease so if you're triggered or made upset by that, I suggest you stop reading, you have been warned.⚠️

//Your POV//

Jaiden and I just stared out the window during the bus ride, both bored since we decided we wanted to save our phone battery.

I know we weren't supposed to bring our phones but I'm sure it'll be easy to sneak them in.

"So, do think these three months will be okay?" Jaiden Asked.

"I'll be satisfied if we survive," I chuckled.

This was not what I wanted to do this summer.

I wanted to do what other 14 year olds do during the summer.

I want to go to the beach, to the boardwalk and the mall with Jaiden and my other friends.

I want to be free this summer, not trapped in a smelly, old summer camp.

Besides, this camp has a strange history.

Apparently the owner is in jail for multiple crimes, which isn't very reassuring to me.

Jaiden's the only one out of the two of us that seems at least a little more excited than I am.

Soon enough, the bus slowed down until it stopped with a screechy noise at the camp.

I got up and helped the bus driver open the ramp of the side of the bus and pushed Jaiden's wheelchair down the ramp to be greeted by a brunette that was quite literally shaking in joy to see us arrive.

"Welcome new campers! My name is David, and you must be Miss Jaiden Miller," David pointed to me.

"Uh no actually, I'm Y/n, this is Jaiden," I cleared the confusion.

"Oh, Alrighty, so you must be Miss Y/n. Okay so it says right here that Jaiden will be here for the literacy camp aaand.." David tapped his pen to his chin while looking at his clipboard, "Socialization camp?"

"Is that even a camp?" The girl counselor with brown hair asked from the other side of the camp.

"My mom wants me to make some more friends besides Jaiden and some kids at my school," I explained, "I also want to assist Jaiden."

It's not like I don't have friends or I'm too afraid to make friends, I just like to stick with the people I got, especially Jaiden, she's been my best friend since diapers.

Ever since Jaiden was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, I've been way more over protective of her.

"I understand, and don't worry you'll make new friends in no time, in fact, I have some campers I think you and Jaiden would like to meet!" David answered.

'This Guy's super weird,' I thought.

"Cool," Jaiden smiles hopefully.

"Come right this way," David led the way, "I remember my first day of camp and.." He kept blabbing but I muted him out until we reached some other kids.

"This is Neil," David introduced me to the tall, brunette.

"Hi, I'm Jaiden," She rose her hand and shook his hand.

I was relieved that she didn't have a surge of pain or her hand didn't stiff up this time, she always gets frustrated when stuff like this happens, Even though her condition is fairly mild.

"And I'm Y/n, L/n," I introduced myself.

"Hi," Neil greeted simply.

Then David walked towards another kid and I followed while pushing Jaiden's Wheelchair.

"Y/n, you know I can do this myself now that I got a new chair, right?" Jaiden spoke independently.

"Yeah, I know, I just...." I paused,

"Don't sweat it, it's fine," Jaiden Said, "Thanks."

"No problem," I softly smiled.

We soon caught up to David and he introduced us to a green haired girl named Nikki.

"Hi!" Nikki greeted us chipper like.

"Hey there, I'm Jaiden," Jaiden Spoke up.

"I'm Y/n," I waved.

"Cool wheelchair, Can you do donuts?" Nikki asked.

"Never tried, but I bet Y/n can do it for me," Jaiden shrugged.

"Yeah, no. You'd fall out," I snickered.

"Hey! At least I didn't puke after watching a documentary about hamburgers," Jaiden threw in my face.

"I.....uh....I hate it when you're right," I sighed.

Nikki giggled and ran away.

Me and Jaiden looked at each other and shrugged when we watched Nikki suplex Neil.

"Come on girls, I have one more person I'll introduce you to and then you can meet everyone else on your own," David told us.

"Aight," I spoke.

"This is Max," He put his hand on a boy with darker brown hair, tan skin and a blue hoodie's shoulder.

"Don't touch me," Max pushed David's hand off.

"Hi!" Jaiden smiled, "I'm Jaiden and this is my friend Y/n L/n,"

"Sup," I greeted him.

"Hey," He Said.

"Well I'm going to go do some paperwork with Gwen now so have fun you three and stay out of trouble, I'm mostly talking to you Max," David said as he walked off.

"Finally he's gone," Max sighed.

"Yeah...not for nothing but he's one hella' strange guy," I chuckled.

"I actually thought he was pretty nice," Jaiden tilted her head.

"You think everyone's nice, Jaiden," I laughed.

"Well someone's gotta stay optimistic out of the two of us," Jaiden shrugged.

"I'm guessing you two know each other," Max raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, our moms collected money together so they can send us both here. We're like the dynamic duo, Batman and Robin style," Jaiden explained.

"Huh, Cool I guess," Max then waited for David to get a bit farther away, "I fucking hate it here."

"Why?" Jaiden Asked.

"Uh Jaiden, have you looked around? Look at the 'camps'," I pointed to one that said cooking camp that just had a microwave and a spoon.

"But I signed up for Literature Camp, surely it can't be that bad," Jaiden looked and then saw the so called camp for Writing and cringed.

It had just a few sheets of notebook paper that were obviously ripped from a notebook and a pencil that's eraser was to the metal and had no point.

"See? This place is a dump, and I've been trying to escape for years with Neil and Nikki," Max put his hands in the air.

"I want in," I stepped up.

"What?? Why?" Jaiden said.

"Look, I know you don't want me to get in trouble after all the effort that our mom's put in this but, was it really that much money if we came here? This is definitely not how I wanted to spend my summer, and It's not going down in flames like this," I explained to her.

"She makes a point," Max backed me up.

"Y/n I get that but, I can't really...you know, keep up," Jaiden rubbed her arm.

"*Sigh* I know, But we could always find a way to keep you with us," I tried to say but knew I was failing.

"It's best I stay in camp, but I could help in other ways too, like tell you if someone's coming or not through our phones," Jaiden lightened up the mood with her idea.

"Well, I guess," I shrugged, "So..are we on the team?"

"...Sure why not, we need more help to get out of this hell hole anyways," Max decided.

"Rad," I smirked and gave him the 'okay' sign with my hand.

"Yay," Jaiden smiled then coughed.

"Let's go set up our stuff and get you your medicine," I told her, "See ya, Max."

"Later," He waved.

**Time Skip to later**

After giving Jaiden her medicine and helping her set up Her tent which was specially designed for her, and I set up my own, I decided to explore the camp a little bit.

I zipped up a lime colored jacket over my white tank top since it got cooler and left my tent.

I walked around introduced myself to others for a little bit until I bumped into someone while I was walking and waving to Harrison.

"Thanks for showing me that-" I thanked Harrison for showing me that magic trick but I bumped into someone and fell on the ground which cut me off.

"Hey watch where you're going Y/n, you're lucky I wasn't Nerf or something," Max said.

"Oh I'm sorry, Max. I wasn't paying attention, heheh," I apologized.

"Eh, it's fine," He paused as he watched me start to get up, "Need help?"

He held out his hand so I grabbed it and he pulled me up with ease.

"Thanks," I Said.

"No problem," He answered.

Things went silent between us for a bit.

"Soooo.." He Said, "You want to uhhh, have a conversation like normal people do?"

I chuckled softly at that.

"Heh, sure," I answered as I sat down next to him on a log.
