Another Fever Dream

//Max's POV//

"A little bit, yeah," David shrugged.

I looked down, sighing.

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Tell her."

"And if I did, if she'd say yes, what would we do after camp is over? You know what my life is like!" I yell-whispered.

"I know, I know. Then make it last, Max. Who knows? Maybe you two will meet again in the future," He tried to make everything positive like he always does.

"I doubt it."

"If you keep being negative like that, it's not going to happen."

"Well then how am I supposed to tell her anyway? Over a moldy omelette??" I sarcastically asked.

"The Lake Lilac Social's coming up," He smiled.

"I guess..I probably won't be able to do it."

"Max, if you wait until the last minute, you'll regret it."

"How do you know?" I scoffed.

"Because I was just like you and, well, look at me now; A dating disaster."

"Maybe it's because you trap yourself here."

"1. That's my decision, 2. It's because I didn't act."

"Who is this mystery person you wanted to confess to anyways?"

"Well...you told me your secret so I'll tell you mine.."

"Well?"

"*Sigh*...Gwen."

"WAIT WHAT?!" I accidentally yelled but slapped my hands over my mouth.

I looked behind me and saw Y/n still sleeping which relieved me.

"Are you for real or are you fucking with me right now?"

"I'm saying the truth, also language."

I rolled my eyes, "Why don't you just tell her now? You work with her."

"I tried but, it went worse then when I tried in high school," He admitted.

"Oh."

"So that's why you gotta take your chance."

"Okay then.."

//Your POV//

****

The petite girl rose from her spot, her knees bleeding from kneeling on broken glass.

Tears clouded her eyes and ran down her cheeks.

I laid silently in the pile of glass she kneeled beside me in, perfectly flat and not moving nor breathing.

Flowers were placed around the glass shards, a crèche of poppys and dandelions.

The little girl in the denim overalls and red sweater wiped her mourning eyes, "He is your white night of the future."

She closed my eyes with her middle and index fingers.

"He'll save you from memories that you will not remember. The witch will try and tear you away from all memory of him but do not fret, for you and your white knight will meet again."

The glass prickling my backside went numb.

In fact, my whole body was numb.

Is this how it feels to die?

"She'll use all her tricks to make you forget, but you mustn't if you want to save him and yourself. Your white knight needs to be saved as well."

Somehow, without breathing, I croaked, "Who?"

"Your white knight is someone you hold dearly to your heart, our heart. I have been hoping for the longest time he'd come and he's finally arrived. Your time with him right now is limited, so please," She pressed her hand on my forehead, "Do not forget him."

I opened my eyes to reveal her face, and I gasped.

"You won't forget, won't you?"

I stared into her trust hungry eyes.

Her red cheeks made me understand how much this meant to her.

"I promise."

Then, the little girl, who looked just like me, years ago, dissolved into the darkness.

****

I jolted up, gasping for air.

"What...the hell.."

Max and David ran over to me, worried expressions on their faces.

David put his hand on my forehead "Still warm, but you got a little cooler."

"Kay'.."

"You okay?" Max asked me as David walked off to get me some water.

"Yeah, just another fever dream."

"Weird."

"Yeh."

David handed me a water bottle which I placed on my head, "I have to go out to get medicine. Max, don't let anyone in, understand?"

"Yeah, Whatever."

"I'm serious. We don't need anymore campers sick."

"I'll lock the door, just go get the damn medicine."

"Okay," He shrugged and left.

Max locked the door and walked back over to me, sitting on the edge of the couch.

"Do you want to tell me what your dream was about?"

"All of them?"

"If you want."

I looked to the ground, sighed and looked back at him.

"The first one was..okay at first, I'm still trying to piece them together. I was standing in water that went to my ankles and there's a lot of stars, and the stars have reflections but I don't somehow. I'm also hearing someone crying, it sounded like a girl, a little one. When I looked back into the water, I had a shadow that had the figure of a little girl. The next dream from when I passed out was a little scarier. I was drowning and even suffocated in the water which was rising, so maybe that's why I stopped breathing. The one I just had was even weirder; some younger version of me from when I was..maybe 5 kept talking to me like she was from the Middle Ages. I wasn't breathing and was laying in shattered glass and flowers. She was kneeling in the glass which made her knees bleed, too."

"What did she say?" He asked.

"She kept telling me to cherish the time I have with..somebody, I don't know. It's still fuzzy in my head. She kept saying something about a white knight. I can remember the surroundings but not really what she was saying. All I know is that I promised that I wouldn't forget him, who ever he is."

"That is really weird," He looked surprised.

"I know right? My mom told me that when we have weird dreams like this, our brain is trying to tell us something. I don't really get it though and it's making my head hurt trying."

"Maybe someday you'll meet whoever that guy is."

"I think she said I already know him, she specified that it was a boy," I shut my eyes and tried to think about it, "Maybe you??"

"Don't whitewash me."

"Fuck, sorry."

"I was joking, stupid."

"Whatever, asswipe," I playfully kicked him.

"I ain't that type of 'knight' guy," Max made air quotes with his fingers.

"Okay then," I shrugged.

Our conversation was interrupted by three loud knocks on the door.

Max looked out the window and sighed.

"David?" I asked.

"No. It's Nikki, Jaiden and Neil."

"Should we let them in? What if I get them sick?"

"I bet if they just stay on the other side of the room, they'll be fine," He shrugged.

He then opened the door.

Okay so here's an a/n

I'm really tired and I have school tomorrow.

I had more to this chapter but my phone died and didn't save a lot of my writing which is really damn frustrating.

Though here's one thing I wanted to rewrite that was actually an authors note about Jaiden-

I've never really described her so here goes nothing.

Jaiden Miller has olive skin, blonde hair in a bob cut, blue eyes, and is tall but her wheelchair makes her look short.

She is into Anime and Tv shows (Steven Universe, Regular Show, Spongebob.)

She also likes drama shows like Teen Mom, Born This Way (really great show btw), The Bachelor, Grey's Anatomy (another good show), General Hospital and How to get away with murder.

She also likes reading the Twilight and Harry Potter series (which she writes fanfic about bc why not)

She knows how to play ukulele, piano, and is learning how to play cello.

One fun fact is that before she was in a wheelchair, she was able to walk up and down stairs in heels which is a very impressive skill.

Her ears aren't pierced but she does wear makeup a lot.

She is also double jointed.

The type of clothes she likes to wear are vintage T-shirts and sweaters from thrift shops (she loves the whole idea of someone else having it before her which gives her this sense of mystery)

She is very curious and is very responsible, ready to tell you that you're going too far when causing trouble since you're prone to mischief.

Aaaaand that's it.

Night.
