Chapter 4
P.O.V: Clari

After getting my drink, I walked back upstairs to my room to set out blankets, pillows, and other comfy items. Aubrie loved lots of pillows and fluffy blankets. I refolded a couple blankets, so they all matched the general size.
I decided I needed a snack, because that was a lot of hard work. Satisfied with my comfy room, I left. My bedroom window faced the backyard, while Marcus faced the front. I kind of wanted his room so I could spy on people. But I like where mine was at. I headed to the stairs. Dang, I was walking up and down a lot today.
As I rounded the corner of the stairs I shrieked. Sitting there, was a huge, fat, black rat. There was another loud pitched shriek behind me. I turned to find my brother, wide eyed and staring at the curious little thing. I mean, I don't have anything personal with rats. Except when they're living rent-free in my house.
Damn though, this was probably the biggest rat I have ever seen! It was bigger than my head, and hands put together. I was contemplating on bending over and asking him if he secretly trained turtles. Deciding I didn't want my brother to sign me into an asylum, I kept quiet. I tried to convey my message with my eyes, but I don't think the rat understood. Should I ask it it's gender? It looks manly. I'm going to refer to it as him.
"Where is mom when we need her" Marcus squeaked. What a baby
"Uh, uh, you are the so-called 'man of the house', so YOU get to deal with it." I said looking at my brother. His mouth dropped and he looked at me like I was stupid. His face was in an ugly expression. If only I had my phone to take a picture.
"Do you see how big that fucking thing is?! There is no way in hell that I'm even touching it" he said. He looked over at the rat, seemingly disgusted. I have decided that I was going to call it Splinter Jr.
"Oh come on, it's not that big. It's just an overgrown mouse if you think about it. Actually, don't even think about it. Just grab it and run." I said, trying to be positive and helpful. Poor Marcus was not having a good time.
"Ok, how about this, we play rock, paper, scissors and whoever loses has to take care of it." I suggest.
"Hmm...Ok." He agrees. I ready myself. I really do not want to deal with it. We stared at each other. "I'll say it."
"Rock!"
"Paper!"
"Scissors!"
"SHOOT!!"
I chose rock he chose scissors. "Hah! I won!" I exclaimed. Marcus always choses scissors.
I look back at the ground, surprised to see the rat that mysteriously disappeared... He truly was a ninja.
"Aw, where the hell did it go!" Marcus groaned. " I swear, if I see it in the bathroom, my bedroom, the kitchen, or the living room, I'm going to kill the rat." He huffed out." The only place it is allowed is, your room, or outside." Fine. Splinter Jr. will teach me ninja-y things, and then I would become a TMNT. I would beat Marcus up with my turtle buddies. I'm sure I can find a crime he's committed.
"Jeez, thanks. I've always wanted a rat for a roommate" I replied, trying to sound sarcastic, so he wouldn't know I secretly wanted him as a roommate.
"You are very much welcome" he said, before disappearing into his room. I turned and just as I was about to walk in, I hit my foot against the door, stubbing my toe really hard. I hate when this happens. Then the pain kicked in. The world must really hate me.
"Ah, shiiit" I cursed grabbing my foot and hopping to my bed. I sat down and began to examine my toe. Damn, it really did hurt like a butt cheek on a stick. Out of pure boredom, I started talking to myself.
" Hello"
"Hi"
"How are you doing?"
"I'm doing OK, why do you ask?"
" Because you are talking to yourself, idiot."
" Hey! don't call me an idiot, idiot."
" You just called ME an idiot!"
" I'm you, idiot"
I sighed, done with the conversation. I pulled out my phone, scrolling through Instagram when a picture caught my eyes. It was of a little girl going into a cave, but what really caught my eye, was the cave. I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. I decided to screenshot it, so if I ever stumble across a cave, I can see if it matches the one from Instagram. Oh! That would be fun. Maybe Aubrie and Marcus will go cave searching with me. We tried going hiking once but we ended up in the hospital after Marcus rolled down a hill and broke his wrist.
I turned to my room, looking around to see if it was spotless. I sneezed, and looked around, finally spotting a chore I had missed. It needed to be dusted. I felt somewhat proud of myself, because normally I don't bother with such things as dusting, or wiping down floorboards, or waxing floorboards. Normally, I just do the mandatory things.
I ran downstairs and grabbed a dust rag. I ran back upstairs and started to dust my semi-dusty room. I was so busy dusting, that I didn't hear the front door open. I didn't hear the footsteps coming up the stairs. I didn't hear them stop at my door. I didn't hear them walking into my room.
