7: Blood Hound
Vladimir's POV
"How is it going there, Ash?"
"It's all good, boss." I rolled my eyes as Ashoka addressed me as boss. I was tired of correcting him so I chose to let it slide. "The rat is still with company so I'm waiting for them to leave then I'll make my move on him."
"Okay, let me know as soon as possible." I ended the call after Ashoka gave his reply to call me.
I threw my phone on the couch as I began pacing a little. It's almost been a month now since I started my investigation about the once-disappeared-but-now-found drug, 'the sun'. Since Kai had taken it in one of my clubs, I made sure all my clubs we're extra secured to avoid snuggling in of such drugs inside them.
We- my coven and I- had searched and searched as we investigated this matter and I even went as far as approach a few gang bosses who used to trade a lot on these drugs but they were clean. I even used my compulsion gift which I rarely used to make sure I was not lied to.
Every approach I made on cracking the mystery of the sun met a concrete and at the end of the nights, I had nothing to work with.
I almost let the issue go when I received an urgent call from Clinton a week ago. There had been an incident at one of my clubs, 'Scorching heat' which he managed. I rushed there and found a screaming vampire who was in pain and after seeing all the signs, I knew she must have had the drug I've been looking for.
Unfortunately for her, I couldn't just cut my wrist and give her my blood. Instead I took a chair and sat down as I waited for the drug to fade away but what I didn't expect was for the girl to die on the bed she was lying on.
Her corpse was like that of a human that had burned in fire which was confusing. Vampires burnt to ashes when fire was the issue. I contacted Charon who came with his team to investigate the death.
Charon had then told me that this wasn't anything new since there has been a number of vampire deaths and their team had really kept things under wraps to avoid unnecessary civil wars. I was only being told because the girl had died on my property.
Charon had mentioned about a suspect which he refused to disclose. I felt bad using Oliver's favor against him but he was really being difficult.
A day later, I got the information I needed and thus we began our investigation once again. Trevor Moran was our suspect and after confirming he was there on the day Kai was drugged, I believed we were finally getting somewhere.
Charon had sent a list of the dead vampires and I used that to conclude my suspicion on Trevor. On the nights some of the vampires died, Trevor was seen with them in some of my clubs. He sometimes even left the club with them or they separated in the parking lot.
That's when we began following Trevor and all his whereabouts. I was already impatient after following him for a few nights and decided to just torture the answers out of him which is why Ashoka was outside his house waiting for an opportunity to grab him.
"Vlad?"
I stopped my pacing and looked at a frowning Oliver. He looked tired and sleepy, I was even wondering what he was doing standing since he looked like he would collapse anytime.
"I've been calling, what's up?" Oliver asked.
"You shouldn't be up, come take a sit." I held Oliver by the shoulders and guided him on the couch. I then proceeded to grab a pack of blood for him which he latched on immediately.
"So what has you stressed?"
Oliver questioned and I chose to ignore his question and inquired of how he was doing. He pouted at me but thankfully didn't press on the issue.
"I feel like crap." He replied with a dramatic sigh and I chuckled.
"You will be good as new when you wake up from the day's nap." I assured and he groaned.
"That's way too far. I really wanted to go to attend classes tonight but I ended up sleeping the night away. I hope Kai doesn't get bored all alone. Did you drop him at school?"
A shiver went through me after hearing Kai's name and my mind went back to that moment when I blurted out my thoughts like a moron. When it came to that boy, everything I did was wrong. I felt like even me existing was wrong. I sighed, getting lost in my thoughts.
"Hey, what happened?" Oliver nudged me.
"Nothing." I said.
"With that guilty look on your face I'm certain something happened. Why am I even surprised?"
Oliver huffed and got up, matching to his bedroom in angry strides. I sighed, he just left without even giving me a chance to explain myself. Just then, my phone rang and I picked it up.
"Boss, I have him."
"Good." I glanced at my watch and saw it was 02:53 and the sun rise was at 06:30. "Take him to Night Claws and I'll make sure I arrive there before sun rise."
Night Claw was another club of mine, BDSM themed which had dungeons where Trevor could be kept.
"There's something you need to know, Boss." Ashoka said and I paused, giving my attention to him.
"What is it, Ash?" I asked when he remained silent. There was a noise in the background and I wasn't sure what it was about.
"Fuck!" Ashoka cursed and I wondered what was up. "Boss, you have to go to Blood Hound, something big will happen there. I was going through Trevor's phone and found texts saying there's an event starting at 03:00-05:00. I don't know the details but it seem to be big."
"It is almost three a.m now which means whatever that event is, will be starting soon. Text me the important details, the rest we will talk about when I get back."
The phone call ended and I ran in my room to put on my shoes and grab a jacket. As I was leaving my room, I bumped with Oliver at the door.
"Are you going out?"
"Yes, Ollie. Please take care, I'll call Sheila to come be with you." I walked past him.
"Don't bother, school is over now. I'll just call Kai."
"Okay." I replied then left my penthouse.
The drive to Blood Hound didn't take long and as I parked my car in the parking lot, my phone vibrated as a text message arrived.
'Watch out for these guys.' The text message read and with it were pictures of four men. I didn't know any of them and I studied them carefully before reading another arriving message.
'Apparently, not all vampires that were drugged died like those recent deaths. There were some who survived the drug effects and it's those survivors who will be drugged with another new drug. Trevor hasn't yet said why they are being drugged, but whatever it is, it's huge. Call for back up, Boss.'
I debated on calling Charon and ended up deciding against it. I would handle things here and would only call for back up when it's really needed.
Entering the club posed to be a problem, so I waited a bit as I looked around for a way in. A man arrived in a car but instead of going through the main entrance, he was led to the back of the building. The smell of his blood told me he was a werecat and I wondered what he was doing at Blood Hound since it was a club strictly for vampires. Curious, I followed them and saw him pass through three guards who were guarding a door.
I walked closer as I used the darkness to shield my form from anyone. Thankfully, there were clouds that shielded the moons light.
"I don't understand why boss is associating with these beasts. I never liked them." One of the guards whispered to the other two.
"Don't stick your nose where it don't belong." Another warned and the one who spoke before huffed but remained silent.
Not to waste time, I walked up to the three, showing myself. Before they made a move, my compulsion was already controlling their mind as they parted for me. I made my way inside, walking a bit further before releasing my hold on their minds.
I cursed myself when I suddenly bumped into a man. He looked surprised to see me and just when I was about to fight him, he gave me a mask.
"All guest are supposed to have those on. You were running late and I was sent to get you. Right this way sir." The man said and began walking away.
I hurriedly put the mask on and followed the man. He led me to a door where he used a card to open it and then we walked inside. The room was dark but that didn't affect me as I managed to see just how full the room was. I followed him to a seat and once I sat, I began to observe my surroundings.
There were about ten men in mask in the room and there was a stage of some sort where a woman was explaining things. I focused on her to figure out what was happening.
"-twelve survived and it's those twelve that have brought us all here. Tonight we are making history as well as our master's dreams come true."
The woman clapped and a curtain parted revealing a huge screen divided in twelve parts and on each of the parts was a person tied to a hospital bed. My eyes travelled to each person and I noticed five guys and seven girls.
"Let the process begin." the woman ordered and a man appeared on each screen and injected the person on the bed.
I didn't know what was really going on; what the dream was, who the master was, what the process that was currently going on was all about. I once again looked carefully at the people tied on the beds. A certain person caught my attention,he caught it so much that I didn't even realize I had stood up.
"Sir, please get seated." The woman called out to me and I reluctantly took a seat.
If I had a beating heart, it would have beat right out of my chest. I clenched my hands to fists and the chair wasn't as comfortable as before. I was itching to bolt right out of here and go to him but I had no fucking idea where the people on the screens were.
I silently watched as some people had some sort of seizures and died right there on the beds after being injected. My eyes got stuck on his screen as I didn't want to miss a fucking thing. I didn't know I was once again on my feet until the woman came up to me.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" She asked me and I only spared her a glance before my eyes went back to him.
What the hell had happened? Why was he here? My mind was all over the place, I really didn't understand why I was this worked up.
"Excuse me. Where's the bathroom?"
"Over there."
I marched to the bathroom and my phone rang as I closed the bathroom door. I picked it up,thinking it was Ash but Oliver's voice sounded.
"Vlad, something happened to Kai. He sent me texts and voicemails and I wasn't available when he needed me. I'm driving to find him." Oliver cried.
"Did he tell you where he was?" I asked.
"Ye-yes," he got silent then, "a club blood hound."
I massaged my temples. It seemed the people on the screens were right in this building.
"Go back home, I'll get Kai."
"But-"
"Don't argue with me and go back home. The sun will be up soon,I don't want you to be out. I'll get Kai, I promise."
A knock sounded on the door so I quickly cut the call and opened the door. A man stood at the door with a gun pointed at me. If it was a human I wouldn't have worried about the gun but a vampire raising a gun to a fellow vampire meant serious business.
"You are not Andrea, who the fuck are you?" He bellowed.
Just as I opened my mouth, someone came behind the man and snapped his neck. As his body fell to the ground, it revealed Ray.
"What's the plan boss?"
