Pool Revelations
Pool nights. Of all the things Percy missed in this world, pool party nights had to be the biggest one. Which, of course, he could never actually say was Annabeth's fault, but she was the one who had gotten pregnant and decided she didn't want any of Percy's swim team friends to see her in sweatpants.
Admittedly, Annabeth being pregnant was the best thing to ever happen to him. It was a shame that it also meant there would be a temporary hold on pool party nights, though. At least until he managed to convince her it couldn't be all bad.
"We'll stay outside and you won't even hear us," he had told her. After a few long kisses and promising to massage her feet whenever she wanted (and without complaint), she had agreed.
"In my defence," she had muttered, squished in a hug, "I didn't think you'd miss pool parties so much."
So here they were. Preparing for the first pool party in nearly ten months.
"You have chips and salsa here," Annabeth told him, one hand on her stomach and the other pointing towards a cabinet. "There's soda in the pantry."
"You're the absolute best, Wise Girl." Not for the first time that day, Percy kissed her firmly. Unfortunately, they were interrupted by the doorbell as the first of Percy's teammates arrived.
"I'll be upstairs," Annabeth murmured. She pressed one last kiss to his lips then disappeared so Percy could greet his teammates.
It was the first pool party Percy had hosted with his new teammates. While some of his teammates had come over before and met Annabeth pre-pregnancy, many of his teammates were new and had neither met Annabeth nor seen their home. As such, he conducted a quick tour of the first floor before leading his teammates out back to the pool.
While Percy Pool Parties didn't usually have a set time, he was surprised to discover they had been swimming for nearly four hours after stepping inside to grab a snack. The clock on the stove read 6:32, but the summer sun was still high in the sky.
"Hey, Perce?"
Percy's attention was pulled sharply away from the oven clock as one of his teammates walked inside.
"Where's the bathroom?" she asked.
Pointing to the right, Percy told her, "Third door down."
"Thanks."
She disappeared and Percy glanced back at the oven clock with a small frown. When did it get so late? Also, did they have any food?
As if she had read his mind, Annabeth stepped through the front door with a large bag that read Subway on the side. She fumbled with her keys, yanking them out of the door and huffing as her hair fell in her face. Percy rushed to her side.
"When did you leave?" he asked, taking the Subway bag from her.
"An hour ago," she whined, tossing her keys aside. "I don't understand why you like Subway so much. They take so goddamn long."
Percy smiled and bit back a laugh, offering her his arm for balance instead.
"Thanks," she muttered, taking his arm so she could balance better as she slipped off her shoes. "Are your teammates all still here?"
Before Percy could answer, three of said teammates came barrelling through the patio door. They stopped short at the sight of Annabeth, though, who stiffened beside him.
"Annabeth bought us dinner!" Percy said, holding up the Subway bag in hopes that it would draw attention away from Annabeth. It almost worked.
"And Annabeth is...?"
He glanced at Annabeth, but she just bit back a smile and shook her head.
"Go ahead," she teased, patting his arm. "Tell your friends who I am."
Now, let Percy be perfectly clear: he was not ashamed that Annabeth was his wife. Quite the contrary. However, they liked to keep their professional lives separate and Percy tended to forget minor details such as telling his dear teammates that he was one, married, and two, expecting a baby. One thing he never forget, though, was how exciting it was to introduce Annabeth as his wife.
With a wide grin, he wrapped an arm around Annabeth's shoulders and announced, "This is my wife!" He pressed a kiss to Annabeth's head before adding, "And she's due in three days!"
While the news settled in, Percy couldn't help but admire Annabeth proudly. Even though his teammates dripped pool water all over their kitchen as they stood there in shock, he doubted he would ever tire of introducing Annabeth and, eventually, their daughter.
