- 03 ; sweet sorrow
"Well there he is." Robin says to herself as she watches Aslan talk with a dark haired boy she assumed was Edmund. The two sat on the hill Aslan and Peter talked the other day.
"Edmund!" Lucy's voice brings Robin from her thoughts. She watches as Peter and Susan stop Lucy from running toward her brother.
Eventually, Aslan and Edmund come back from the hill. "What's done is done. There is no reason to bring up the past with your brother." Aslan says before moving past the kids and heading towards his tent.
There is a moment of silence before Lucy runs forward and embraced her brother. "Oh, Edmund." Lucy mumbles against his shirt before reluctantly letting go of him. Susan is next as she hugs him softer then Lucy and looks at him worried.
"How are you feeling?" Susan asks concerned. Robin plays with her fingers awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
"I'm feeling kinda tired." Edmund explains.
Robin walks forward and pats him on his shoulder. "Welcome to the light side, kid. I'm Robin, your prophecy buddy and the one who's going to help teach you how to kill a witch." she smiles brightly at him before leaving the Pevensies to deal with their family drama. She had better things to do, like take a nap.
•
Robin hurried towards Aslan after hearing the news that the White Witch was indeed, coming.
"If she wants to talk to you, I'm coming with." Robins states as she takes her place next to Aslan and watches as the Pevensies try to blend in with the crowd.
Before Aslan could argue, shouts were heard in camp. "Jadis, the Queen of Narnia!" a dwarf shouts, announcing the arrival of the Witch.
Robin clenches her jaw and watches as several cyclops carry her throne thing. And on the throne was none ofher than Jadis. With white hair, sharp jaw, cold eyes and slender arms, she was the nightmare all narnians feared.
Jadis hops down from her throne as several narnians keep their distance, not wanting to be close to her. Jadis walks closer to Robin and Aslan, eyeing Robin up and down as she does.
"You have a traitor in your midst, Aslan!" she yells as she stops a couple steps from the two.
Gasps and murmurs fill the camp, that are quickt shut down by Aslan. "His offence was not against you." he loudly exclaims.
"Have you forgotten the Deep Magic?" Jadis challenges.
"Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was made." Aslan says, anger coating his tone.
"Then you know the boy belongs to me!" Jadis shouts. "That boy-" Jadis says as she points to Edmund, "-will die on the Stone Table!"
"Come and take him then!" Peter exclaims as he raises his sword.
"You think that a simple threat will deny me my right, little king? Aslan knows that if I do not have blood as the law demands, all of Narnia will be overturned, and perish, in fire and water." Jadis retorts.
"Enough!" Aslan yells. "I shall talk to you alone." he says as he enters the tent.
Robin goes to follow until the Witch's words stop her. "Why are you entering, little girl? You may be a part of Aslan but you know nothing of situations like this." Jadis sneers as narnians and dwarves wait for Robin's reaction.
Robin turns to Jadis with narrowed eyes and a steely glare. "Do not speak as if you are above me, Witch." she spits the name like poison. "I would kill you right now but at least I have the decency to wait for my opponent to fetch his weapon. And for your knowledge, I know much more than you think I do." Robin seethes before entering the tent.
Many narnains surpress laughs as they watch Jadis enter the tent, smoke practically coming out of her ears.
•
Aslan and Robin exit the tent with solemn expression while Jadis keeps a straight face, though you could see her lips slightly turn upward in victory.
"The Witch had denounced her claim on Edmund!" Aslan announces loudly, causing narnians to cheer and the Pevensies to sigh in relief.
Jadis walks up to her throne and before she sits down, she looks towards Aslan and Robin. "How will I know your promise will be kept?" she questions.
Aslan roars loudly causing the Witch to abruptly sit on the chair. Many narnians laugh as they watch the Witch exit their camp. Aslan and Robin exchange looks as they both enter Aslan's tent.
•
With night upon them, Aslan and Robin walk side by side, nothing but the the crunching of leaves being heard. They walk for a while before the two stop abruptly and Aslan calls out. "Aren't you supoosed to be in bed?" Aslan calls out in the eerie night.
Two disappointed sighs as heard as Susan and Lucy emerge from the bushes, eyeing Robin and Aslan curiously.
"We couldn't sleep." Susan states.
"Please Aslan, Robin. Couldn't we come with you?" Lucy asks, looking between the two with wide eyes.
Robin and Aslan exchange glances. "We would enjoy the company, girls." Robin sends them both a tight smile.
The four walk further, Susan and Lucy not saying anything either but that doesn't stop them from eyeing Robin and Aslan, something Robin takes notice of.
The four stop in a clearing where they hear chatter from further in. "It is time. From now on, we must go alone. Thank you Susan. Thank you Lucy. And farewell." Aslan bows his head. Robin sends the girls a pained smile and she and Aslan emerge from the bushes and walk towards the crowd.
Many jeers and shouts are heard from the Witch's army as the two walk towards the Stone Table, where Jadis waits with a smirk.
"Bind him. Wait. First, let him be shaved." the Witch calls. Robin stands on the side, knowing she can't do anything, and watches as dwarves shave Aslan's beautiful mane.
They drag him towards the Stone Table and tie him on it tightly while other dwarves push Robin towards Aslan. "Tonight, the Deep Magic will be appeased, but tomorrow, we will take Narnia. Forever!" Jadis shouts as cheers are heard from her army.
"You know, Aslan, I'm a little disappointed in you. Did you really think that by giving your life you would save the Human boy? Ha. You are giving up your life, and saving no one. So much for love." Jadis seethes as she forcefully grabs Robin's arms and places her in front of the Stone Table.
Jadis places a white knife in Robin shaking palms. "Come on, little girl. Show me you are capable of doing something right!" Jadis screams are followed by hysterical laughs.
Through tears, Robin looks at Jadis with hate. A smile paints her face. "I am." Robin states before plunging the knife deep in her stomach and falling to the ground, a pool of blood forming around her.
Robin was dead.
authors note
this is not the last chapter but i needed something to happen. i wanted Robin to DO something of her own, not follow peter or watch as Aslan gets killed. this is HER moment to shine.
