Once remembered- now forgotten

It pulsed in the night sky

 As puffy clouds drifted by

It had lost many of its companions and was one among few

It waited and hoped for the birth of others in the nebula, where protostars   would emerge as new

A strange shadow had engulfed its fellows

It had watched patiently, silently, in sorrow

 It twinkled and shimmered

But after recall of the fate of other stars, it settled to a faint, distant glimmer

The moon never understood this star's reason of sadness

For the moon never had its own light, and the thought drove it to madness

The star gazed at the people of the Earth

And pondered why they seemed so bothered by its birth

 Had it no worth?

Why did the humans try to extinguish it with pollution?

And continued on with it, despite being aware of the solution

Once when the night sky was a crystallized ceiling flooded with numerous stars

Now it had become home to invisible wounds and scars

These would perhaps never heal

But little did anyone know how it would feel

These depressing thoughts plagued the star

And with a sigh , it too became an invisible, intangible scar
