"Okay, let me get this clear." Sitting in front of them, Chenle has his eyes squinted as he interrogated them. "That was acting?"
"Yup!" Donghyuck nodded his head, earning a chuckle from the male beside him. "A hundred percent."
After the commotion at the booth that Donghyuck's class had set up, they found a table for all of them to hangout for a while before going back to their sports and practices. Not for Chenle, he didn't join any sports nor did he join dancing. He had all the time in the world to bother these two who made quite a show at the marriage booth. Renjun, on the other hand, was still being emotional at what he had witnessed back at the booth, not moving on immediately after it.
"It felt real to me!" Renjun stated, also not buying their reason for it being an act. "The next thing we know, you might already have a whole ass family!"
And because of that, all of Mark's and Donghyuck's friends were boring holes right through their souls with how they were staring at them. The two that were under the spotlight sank on their seats, feeling the pressure in finding the right alibi.
"Hey, I was just helping Donghyuck." Mark said, hoping that they would be convinced with his reason. "The council will give out a reward to the booth that gets a lot of attention."
Donghyuck nodded his head in a rapid motion, internally commending Mark for thinking of that. "We both planned it to get more attention. Jisung and Chenle's ceremony gathered a lot of crowd! Mark suggested that we should also cause a scene."
Jeno then had his brows furrowed. "Mark? We also have a booth of our own."
Renjun pointed a finger up with that realization. "He has a point! Why help Donghyuck's booth and not boost ours?"
"I fucking knew it. I connected the dots." Chenle proudly said, slamming his hands down the table and making everyone flinch. "There is something going on between you two. Right, Ji?"
The mention of his name made Jisung nod his head immediately. He wasn't interested in the situation, but he'll just agree with Chenle's opinion about it. "Very true."
It seems like Jaemin also had something to say. "If it was a plan, why were you guys mad that we registered your name as a pair?"
Another point was made that got everyone giving the two the spotlight once more.
Both Donghyuck and Mark eyed one another, being cornered and not knowing what more to explain to them. They should have expected they would be in this spot the moment their ceremony would be over. However, all the feelings and emotions got to them that they weren't listening to what their mind was telling them. All they cared about at that moment is hearing each other out and getting the spark back in their relationship.
"Actually..." Donghyuck couldn't say anything. It felt like they already gave out all their reasons.
"Do you really want to know?" But Mark had his last option.
"Why would we be here if we didn't want to know, Mark Lee?" Chenle told him, stating the obvious.
"We've been bugging you since a while ago, Mark Lee." Jaemin followed, rolling his eyes.
Donghyuck clicked his tongue and gave both his friends a glare, warning them not to have an attitude. At the same time, he was also nervous as to what Mark would say. He just hoped that whatever it is, their friends will finally leave them alone.
"We traveled back in time," Mark began. "And we're trying to fix our relationship."
Both Jisung and Jeno, who are close friends of Mark, stared at each other in disbelief. They were both confused and bewildered at whatever this guy is sprouting. Not at one point did it make sense.
But Donghyuck's friends found it intriguing.
"Wait... So you're saying you two are already married?" Chenle asked, having his full attention on the topic.
Jaemin, too, was curious. "You guys are from the future?"
Even Renjun was interested to know. "I believe in aliens so I know this is also real."
The only people that reacted negatively are those who actually know who Mark is. Jeno let out a scoff at how this guy is bluffing just to get away with the situation. Jisung buried his head down to the palm of his hands to hide from embarrassment, this friend of his was yapping some nonsense. Traveling back in time? Cliché, Mark Lee.
Meanwhile, Donghyuck has his jaw dropped. "What the fuck?"
"Trust me on this." The older one whispered, noticing both of his friends already showing some obvious reactions. Mark then started to entertain those who believed in him. "One question at a time!"
Jaemin got ahead in asking first. "Did you two get a divorce?"
"Nope!"
"Not yet."
The two being questioned gave each other looks because they both answered differently.
"We're still talking about it." Letting out a nervous laugh, Donghyuck internally screamed at how he said that they are not yet divorced.
Crossing his arms across his chest and rolling his eyes, Mark sulked at his partner's answer. "I never agreed with that."
"Me next!" Chenle raised his hand as if he were to answer a problem during the class. "What's it like? Marriage life."
"Hell."
"Not recommended."
Like best buddies, Mark and Donghyuck high-fived each other. They were nodding in agreement at the answers they gave out. It was only when they saw how stunned their friends were that they got back to their senses and revoked their answers.
Coughing, Donghyuck looked away upon changing his mind. "It only works out if you're with the right person."
Mark pressed his lips to a thin line in looking for advice to give to them. "It takes a lot of patience and understanding to be able to commit to that kind of life."
Shyly raising his hand also, Renjun wanted to ask. "Do you have kids?"
That question made the two go silent.
It took them time to realize that they were having too much fun answering their questions, not knowing the consequences they will get for doing this. Donghyuck lowered his head and played with his fingers nervously while Mark bit his inner cheek, looking away.
"Hey, you three are blindly believing them." Jeno finally spoke after staying quiet and observing how long this lie will last. "They're obviously just bluffing."
"They are just finding a way out in talking about what happened a while ago at the booth." Jisung told them, giving them a bored look. "Acting to boost the booth's popularity is more believable."
"Wait, but didn't it make sense, though?" Jaemin said, having an inner crisis as to which side he'll go.
Renjun nodded his head in agreement. "If they are married in the future, it does make sense why their vows felt so real."
"Believe me, you can never trust anything that comes out of Mark's mouth. He's delusional." Jeno said, helping the two stand up from their seats. "Let's go. Jaemin, you have another match in thirty minutes. Renjun, let's watch."
"But I wanted to know their answer to Renjun's question." Chenle stood up, curious about it.
"They'll just make it up, Le. Mark wants to be an author, his imagination runs wild." Jisung held his hand out. "Come, do you want to watch me practice?"
The both that were left behind watched their friends one by one leaving the table with different reasons. They were busy with Sports Fest, they didn't have time to stay and listen to the couple's story. Especially when Jisung and Jeno convinced them that Mark is making things up. It took minutes before Donghyuck and Mark were left alone at the table that was once full with their friends around.
They then burst out laughing.
"What the hell..." Donghyuck had tears in his eyes from laughing hard. "How did you know Jisung and Jeno weren't going to believe you?"
"They find me crazy. Don't ask too much about that." Maybe it's because Mark has been acting strange ever since he got back in time.
"God," Leaning his head down to the male's shoulder, Donghyuck giggled at the situation just a while ago. "I thought we were done for."
"I was actually about to mention Chan." Mark then let out a relieved sigh. "What were we going to say next, our son having a crush on Jisung's son?"
Gasping, Donghyuck quickly lifted his head to turn towards the older one beside him. He brought his legs up and crossed it on the bench as he was interested. "You know about that?"
"Love, I bring Chan to school most of the time." Holding his partner's hand to play with it, Mark giggled at the memory. "He would always say that he's excited to see Jiro."
That brought a smile on Donghyuck's face. He was glad to see that his husband still caught up with what's going on inside the family despite being busy. Donghyuck honestly thought that Mark didn't care much anymore, that as long as he was able to support his family then it was more than enough. He thought wrong, and he couldn't be more glad to be wrong about it.
"Donghyuck?" Mark snapped his fingers in front of his face, getting his attention. "Is everything okay?"
Everything is indeed more than okay. "Mark, do you think..."
Mark only hummed as a response, waiting for the other to finish what he was supposed to say.
"Do you think we can start over?"
