XVII. Want You Back

~3rd person's POV~

"Sir, are you sure now would be the best time? You know, they would still have this night and they could enter through the gates at any moment. We might not even find them in the specified building. I dare say that, terrified by Your Majesty's wrath, the Princess will be returned tonight. Sir, you are not advised to launch an attack on your daughter's abductors today..."

"How dare you question your king?!" he rose from his throne, thus towering over his soldier. "If I want to bring my daughter back now, I'm going to bring my daughter back now!" He shouted, putting it too clearly.

His soldier just nodded, and after his leader waved, as a sign that he had let go, he hurried out of the room after a deep bow.

Three days have not yet passed. Today is the third night. Until tomorrow, the vampires would have time to comply with the king's demand.

But the king waits no more. In two days, her daughter should be standing at the altar with the already accommodated in the palace Crown Prince of Canada, as this marriage could mean a lot to family alliances.

The alliance between Britain and Canada could be renewed through marriage.

Who cares if young people are happy with each other? Who cares if they can live with each other without even knowing each other? Who cares if they love someone else?

Well, certainly not their parents.

The king walked to the family picture, the concept of which was complete by the fact that he and his daughter were in the painting. Elizabeth is still very young on it, if all is true, she was five years old when it was painted.

She found it difficult to sit still and see the portrait completed, but bribery and blackmail are also solutions. Of course, it would be nicer to call it an exchange, but what is true is true.

The king promised his daughter that if she remained silent and respectful, they would go out for a walk in the garden that evening. Even though the little girl knew that there would be a guard behind them, she was delighted with the idea.

His father never liked to let her out after it got dark. She didn't know why, but sometimes she thought it was paranoia.

There is nothing in the dark.

Marta always stuffed her head with vampires; how dangerous they are, and attack mainly in the evening, since then there can be fewer eyewitnesses.

Elizabeth never believed these tales, since vampires lived far away from the royal palace, but she did not interrupt or contradict their telling.

Returning to the portrait, a person from the family is absent on it. Elizabeth's mother was not respected enough by him to take a place in the throne room. He didn't want her daughter to see her mother's face, even once.

At least, that's what they're talking about.

The king sighed heavily, and then, still staring at the picture, began to speak to the painted little girl with a serious look.

"You never knew when to stop. You always resisted me, even though you knew full well that we weren't writing it in your favor." He spoke quietly, but in the spacious Great Hall his voice cut into the deadly silence. "I saw at the ball that you didn't care about your partner, whom I introduced as your future husband and ruler. I saw you dancing with the blonde boy. That was the first time I saw happiness on you that night. The way he was heading towards you... Sparks of happiness immediately appeared in your eyes. You laughed and smiled even before you knew his name. Why? What did all those other nobles you danced with before do wrong? Then you went out into the garden, and I didn't see you again after an hour," his voice softened, as if sad when he found out that his daughter had not returned from the garden decorated with lanterns.

But this is only appearances. The king was not sad because his daughter had been taken away and they could do anything to her whenever they wanted.

That is, but, part of it is true. His daughter was taken away. From this it follows that she won't be able to attend the wedding on time. This could upset the whole schedule. The life of the whole kingdom may depend on young people getting married, and in time.

Perhaps disaster would not happen now, but only several centuries later, leaving the problem for posterity, but even then possible mistakes must be prevented.

After all, they cannot afford such a slip-up. It would be a scandal.

Even so, it's hard enough to weaken rumors that the princess is not staying in the palace and instead shares a house with five vampires.

No one cares that it is not of her own accord. No one cares that she was kidnapped from his own backyard.

No one cares that they can hurt her, and she may be experiencing something terrible right now.

They are only interested in scandal and the humiliation and mistakes of royal power. They couldn't think of any other talking point.

The upcoming wedding is important to everyone. Nothing else.

The king wakes up from his thoughts to knock on the giant door of the throne room. With quick steps, he heads towards his throne, leaving the painting undisturbed.

He didn't want anyone to know that he was talking to a portrait rather than handing out wedding information.

"You may enter," he said louder as he sat down so that the person standing beyond the door could hear him.

"My lord," bowed the soldier who entered. "The desired team is ready and waiting for Your Majesty's orders.

At the information, the monarch smirked and waved his hand.

"So go. Bring my daughter back."
