The Hunky Man Cliche

Example: He was tall. Broad were his shoulders and sculpted his body. He was beautiful. He was unearthly and majestic. All his kind were, the Faeries of the realm who guarded with serenity, wisdom and power.

Reasoning: ok so basically everyone wants to write a story about some supernatural creature that basically looks like a super pretty human but can do other stuff humans can't. Like vampires. Werewolves. FAE. But the thing is that almost none of these YA creatures actually follow the lore that they come from. FAE ARE NOT ALWAYS BEAUTIUL!!!!! THEY ARE VICIOUS, ANMALISTIC, SOMETIMES HIDEOUS THINGS THAT RANGE FROM TROLLS AND GOBLINS TO PIXIES THAT RIP YOUR HAIR OUT!!!!

ok.

anyway, im so sick of that cliche where all the supernatural creatures that are "good" are super beautiful and stuff.

switch it up/

be accurate to historical lore.

Ex. 1

Empousa: Greek vampires. Have fiery hair, white wrinkly skin, brass claws, elongated distorted bone fangs, hag's faces, one humanoid brass leg and one donkey leg. They give off an aroma that seduces young men, which they then eat. Servants of the goddess Hecate.

Ex. 2

Redcaps: Faerie kind. Northern European folklore (possibly Celtic). Species of Hobgoblin who have glass for teeth, are extremely intelligent and wear hats that are red because they soak them in the blood of their victims. Kill people for fun. Use bone weapons.

Ex. 3

Sirens and Succubi: Seductresses. Sirens are essentially large harpies, having the bodies of vultures and humanoid faces which change with the desires of each person who looks at them. Their voices lure sailors to their deaths, where they are eaten. Not cute. Succubi and Incubi are essentially the same idea, but their form varies, usually with donkey or goat legs, bat wings and a dragon tail. Produce bodily secretions that seduce the opposite sex.
