alright so let's get started on this monstrosity.

granted, some fan fiction is very good, well written literature that could be made into standalones.

but most of it....

cliche number 1: the MOC.

so this character is almost always female and almost always a tortured soul who has either gone badass rebel or quiet shy nerd.

something horrible has happened to them in the past, and the characters stolen from other works are always either super caring for her or super harsh and end up loving her.

its kinda super annoying.

In my mind, if youre gonna write a fanfiction, it should be a continuation of the story where the new characters you create fit the story and arent unexpected. create a whole new plot, but keep the fan characters the same, aka having the same personalities and feelings. just becasue you create a new character doesnt mean everyone else has suddenly changed. try to write those characters the way the author did. try to write your OC in the style that the original author would hav as well.

cliche number 2: the boy band

ok so we all have that one celebrity or celebrity group that we absolutely drool over. But the 1D and 5SOS fanfics have GOT to stop.

the ones where luke hemmings or harry stiles have dark pasts and are too dangerous to be around.

angst. angst. sex. angst. more sex. more angst. angst sex. sex angst. sex. happy ending.

my personal favorite is the werewolf boyband fanfics.

but seriously the angsty teen boyband loving small town girl has to stop. every form of it. its just so bad.
