Raimon on TV

A month later, both hospitalized members of Raimon were discharged. Kimiko wasn't sure why she was considered to be a part of them when she didn't even enroll there, but they didn't let her question it.

That afternoon, they all gathered in the clubroom. Having placed their bags by their lockers, they cleaned the room and made space for Haruna and Kino Aki, Tenma's relative, to make some snacks. It was their day off and their coach was off on some business, so they didn't have practice. The reason for this was simple, they were on TV.

Shindou turned the screen on as they all took their seats. All the seniors took one side of the couch while the first-years and managers took the other. Without further ado, the program started.

'Uchikudaku!'

"Oh, hey! That's TPK, isn't it?"

"You're right! They're using our matches for their music video!"

"Dragonlink looks so scary though! The shadows casted over them and all..."

"Kyou, the look on your face when the ball just barely missed you..."

"Shut up."

'Mamoru mono ga, nani mou nai yori'

"They have a really close up shot of you, Tenma."

"Ah... this is embarrassing!"

"Okay, but how did they get all these other footage?"

"Was that Shuu?!"

"No way, you're just imagining it!"

'Tsuyoku narerun da!'

"Wow! Look at all those keshins!"

"They got every single one from the tournament!"

"It's too bad Kimiko's isn't here."

"Well, Hakuryuu's isn't either."

"Our editors narrowed down the secrets to Raimon's strength to three points." The reporter, Tominaga Jun, said. "Without further ado, let's see what secrets guided them to the championship! The secret to Raimon Eleven's strength, number 1. The riverbank is the holy land of hard work!"

There was quite a lot of footage of Shindou.

Akane nodded with her ever-pleasant smile. "She understands."

"Shindou-san, you have another fan." Kimiko called, the senior's cheek turning slightly red.

"I'm now at the riverbank, where many soccer youths have gathered. Let's interview them for a bit." She turned to the children, in which none of them looked like they were over eight years old. "Everyone, do you like the Raimon Eleven?!"

"We love them!" They cheered. When asked which one of them they liked most, they mentioned Tenma, Tsurugi, Amagi, Shindou, Kirino, Sangoku, and Shinsuke respectively.

"She called you cute, Shinsuke." Hamano teased, earning a blush.

"Good! Good! You've all got fans now!" Midori cheered, patting both him and Tenma roughly on the back.

"This is kind of embarrassing." Tenma muttered.

"Hey, hear that, Kyou? Kids don't think you're scary anymore." Kimiko nudged the friend she sat next to. "You better be a good example to them, which means no more beating people up with soccer balls."

"I stopped ages ago."

"Just making sure, since Shuuya-nii had that as a habit once."

"What."

"No one said my name." Everyone could only give Kariya sorry looks.

The reporter explained a little more of how important the riverbank was. No one knew how they managed to get so much footage of them training, but they decided to just go with the motions. There's nothing they could do about it anyway.

Tominaga went through the special shoots, which included Soyokaze Step, Buttobi Jump, and Fire Tornado Double Drive. She also mentioned how it was where Coach Endou managed to get the team together for the first time.

"They really have everything filmed, huh?"

"It's a little bit... concerning, seeing how much they know about us."

"Kyou, did you ever apologize to Endou-san for nearly killing him?"

"... Shut up."

"The secret to Raimon Eleven's strength, number 2. The goddess who supports the players!" This was a section dedicated mostly to the managers, surprisingly enough.

"This makes me kind of nervous." Aoi got a nod from her red headed senior.

"I wonder how they'll introduce us." Akane smiled.

"The second-years, Seto Midori and Yamana Akane, and first-year Sorano Aoi. These three who helped Tenma and the others during practice and continued to cheer them on could very well be considered the secret actors leading to the championship."

"Aww, Kimiko, they didn't mention you."

"Well, I'm not exactly enrolled..."

"Oh hey! Miss Otonashi is there too!"

"Coach Endou is married?!"

"And Aki-nee!"

"I can't believe I'd be here with you celebrating Raimon's championship again, Otonashi-san."

"I've always dreamed it would happen." The two women smiled at each other.

"I wonder if I can be like Miss Otonashi and the others when I grow up."

"We might end up supporting the Raimon Eleven just like them ten years from now."

"That sounds pretty amazing!"

"Maybe I'll be coach then!" Shinsuke cut into the girls' chat.

"No way! Can you do things firmly like Coach Endou?"

"I can!" He placed his hands on his hips, mimicking his coach's voice the best he could. "Tenma! You're the goalkeeper!"

"That's nothing like him!"

"The secret to Raimon Eleven's strength, number 3. Raimon spirit!" This was the section for the alumni. Many of the Raimon soccer club of ten years ago appeared on screen. "By inheriting the Raimon spirit from their predecessors, including Coach Endou and Coach Kidou, these 16 members who make up the Raimon Eleven have won the Holy Road championship!"

Next up was an index of all of their special shoots and moves. They showcased most of the moves before Tominaga continued, "Among these players, the following four have played a huge role."

The screen had 'Run! Tenma!' written on it. "First is the captain, Matsukaze Tenma! As the successor to Raimon spirit, he never gave up as he pulled everyone along with his wind." The brunette got nudges from Midori, Aoi and Shinsuke. He covered his face in his hands with a silent whine.

It then switched to 'Don't cry! Shindou!'. "Next is the team's playmaker, Shindou Takuto! His great leadership brings the team together." All the seniors shot him teasing looks, which he ignored by staring straight ahead. Still, he couldn't hide the red on his cheeks.

Next was 'Score the goal! Tsurugi!'. "And the ace striker, Tsurugi Kyousuke! With his dangerous charm, he caused quite a storm within the team."

Kimiko let out a noise that was between choking and laughter. "'Dangerous charm', she said! Kyou, someone actually took your attempt at a punk outfit seriously! At this rate, you're gonna be a hit with the girls!"

But that wasn't what he had his mind on. "How did they get that clip of me and nii-san?!"

And finally, it said 'Jump! Shinsuke!'. "Last but not least, with his small body but big fighting spirit, Nishizono Shinsuke! He's a hard worker that has even brought out a keshin!" Now it was the smaller brunette's turn to get nudged by his friends. He could only sit still with his face just as red as the one he teased earlier.

To close off the section, Tominaga showcased their tactics. From Kami no Takuto, and Ultimate Thunder all the way to Double Wing and Flying Route Pass.

"Shin-sama, you're so noble and amazing!"

"Tsurugi really helped us out for this one."

"You did a great job there, Kageyama."

"Those pitch-downs were way too much."

"I even fell into the water."

Afterwards was an interview with the captain. Though, Tenma seemed way too tense and he could barely speak more than two words without freezing up.

"Whoa, you're so nervous." Shinsuke commented.

"Of course I was! It was my first time doing something like that." He defended.

"You're a little too nervous there." Kariya piped in. "It's turning into nonsense ramble."

Tenma's eyes visibly twitched. "I guess so..."

"Please continue cheering on Raimon. We'll work hard to be Japan's number one next year too!" Their captain on TV stated.

"You sound way too much like an honor student."

"I couldn't help it! I was just really nervous, okay?!"

"Tenma, thank you." Tominaga smiled. "Next time, we'll look into the source of Raimon's spirit even further. The spotlight will be on the time when Coach Endou was a member of the soccer club. We'll look into the secret of their strength even deeper! We'll see you again tomorrow at this time!" With a wave, the program was done.

Aoi blinked. "Huh? It's over?"

Tenma had the same thought. "Yeah. It's over."

"Eh? They didn't use my interview!" Shinsuke complained.

"They didn't even interview me in the first place!" Kariya cut in.

"That's because you went off somewhere." Aoi replied.

"Well, the captain is the one people expect." Kimiko added with a shrug. "Even if the rest of you guys were interviewed, I don't think you'll appear on TV. Maybe in the newspapers, though."

"Hey, it's TPK again!"

"How did they get a video of our first day here?"

"Nii-san again?!"

"Oh my god, the camera isn't focused on you, so your face of pure anger is just a blur!"

"Even the match against Akizora Challengers!"

"Eh?! Tenma, Minamisawa-san called you by your first name?!"

"Fubuki-san!"

"Even Kishibe's there!"

"Mahoro!"

"Taiyou!"

"Eh? Is that Gouenji-san?"

"No way, you're imagining it!"
