ROUND ONE

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: AUGUST 20th AT MIDNIGHT 

-I know all of your time zones so you must post it before midnight at your time. This means it might be past midnight where I am when you post it as well. I will check if this is the case if it pops up.-

We all know that Sherlock Holmes would be lost without his blogger. Well, guess who you are today?

That's right! Your one-shot for this round must be written in the form of one of John's blog entries! Here is the official BBC John Watson blog for your reference: http://www.johnwatsonblog.co.uk/ At the end you must also include "comments" from other characters that react to what John (aka you!) has written up about the case. There must be at least two of these "comments" included in your story. If you don't include the "comments," then points will be taken off!

As for the actual story part of this round, you may write whatever you like in whatever genre you like. However, I am assigning each of you an actor or actress that you must use as a character within your story. This new character doesn't have to have a big role, but they must be integrated into the plot somehow! If needed, you can explain in an author's note how you put the actor/actress's character in.

(In case you're wondering, yes, I did just rip all of these actors and actresses off of Downton Abbey. Don't blame me for being lazy!)

You will be judged on plot, orginality, detail, grammar and spelling, how well you completed the given challenges, and how realistic your characters are (if you make up a character are they believable or are they a Mary Sue, when writing a canon character such as Sherlock do you have them act the way they would in the show). 

The top two scores will win an advantage! The highest score wins the best advantage, the next highest wins the advantage but of a smaller sort. If there are any ties in this, then I will assign another judge to go evaluate each of the stories and we will average these scores out. Placing in the first two rounds of the competition will give you an added bonus when it comes to figuring out the overall winner at the end, so do your best each and every time! 

The rules mentioned before still apply. This is the following: 

-The one-shot you submit must be BBC Sherlock fanfiction. 

-The minimum amount of pages is three, the maximum is eight. Five points will be deducted for each page under the limit, three points for each page over. Author's notes don't count in the page amount.

-PG-13 stories are allowed because this is Sherlock, but you must stay as clean as possible!

-Do not be rude to any other contestants or judges!

-You must follow the deadlines!

-If you disagree with a judge's scoring, contact me and I will assign another judge to reevaluate you and your score will be the average of these two scores.

Third Place: One follow, one book cover/banner, and reads and votes and comments on any one book.

Second Place: One follow, reads and votes and comments from myself on any two books, and two book covers/banners. 

First Place: Follows from all of the judges, reads and votes and comments from myself on any three books, three book covers/banners, and a book trailer. If you choose, you will also be the next host of this competition!

When you have completed and published your one shot (which must be before midnight on August 20th), comment on here with a link to the one shot so that we can get to it! I will have the judge assigned to you go and read it and then evaluate it. You will recieve your evaluation as a comment on your one shot. The results for this round, who has won and who will be eliminated, will be posted on August 25th.
