Retaliation

It was around midday when the Riddler and his men attacked Wayne Manor.

Bruce was away at work, and so was none the wiser to the brewing situation back at his home. Alfred had been dusting in the hallway when the large window next to him had exploded. It was fair to say he was rather surprised.

Sure enough, a familiar green and purple clad villain was the first to enter through the exploded window, and point his question marked cane at Alfred.

" Our first hostage, how marvelous!" The Riddler chuckled to his men, as one by one, about twenty goons came climbing through the broken window.

Alfred had been worried then, but no more worried than he was now. He was currently tied with thick rope, to a chair in the sitting room, rather uncomfortably tied.

" We've searched the house sir, no one else is home," One of the goons, apparently named Emmit, stated loudly to his boss.

The Riddler who was admiring an antique vase in the corner answered in exasperation.

" Did you check the grounds yet? There could be others walking around outside!" The Riddler growled, clearly annoyed at his henchman's stupidity.

Emmit nodded sheepishly, and ordered ten of his men to check the grounds. Alfred was incredibly worried about Perseus. The boy had no way of knowing that the men were coming after anyone in the grounds. Hopefully they wouldn't find the young boy.

Percy heard footsteps behind him as he replaced the topsoil around the rose garden. He was expecting Alfred to show up with lunch around that time like usual, and so was not worried in the slightest. Turning to greet Alfred he did not see the old butler with his silver platter he always carried.

No, he saw a giant of a man with a large green question mark proudly emblazoned on his shirt. The man had obviously just noticed him as well, and the two ad a stare off for a few moments, before the man moved.

With a savage bellow, he charged at Percy, who could only picture Gabe at this moment. His blood ran cold, and when the man almost reach him, he dodged easily, and kicked the man hard in the back as he went.

The forward momentum of the man added to the kick Percy and executed, caused the man to go sprawling to the ground. Percy leapt atop of him, not exactly sure why in the world he was being attacked by a Riddler goon, but knowing he could not let himself be beaten.

He was now perched above the man who was flatten his back, and with a fist raised, he was suddenly thrown sideways. Percy's wrist painfully hit against a brick and he hissed in pain. That however, was not his first priority, and the goons as now pinning him, and had a meaty hand enclosed around his small neck.

Percy scrabbled his arms at the man choking him, desperately trying to dislodge him as the air could not reach his wailing lungs. However his child strength did little to nothing to dislodge the man. However, a pressure hose could dislodge him.

In response to the terror Percy was feeling, the garden hose he'd been using blasted on at full power, whipping about and blasting the goon straight in the face with highly pressured water.

With a cry of surprise the man stumbled back from Percy, who took the moment to start gasping for breath, coughing wildly in his attempts. The hose shut of and went dormant again as Percy started regaining his breath back.

However he did not notice the main coming at him again until he felt a burst of pain in the side of his head and nothing else but darkness.

Alfred was sure that his ropes were not able to be broken out of, and yet was halfway through attempting another way to escape them, which proved fruitless, when a giant of a man entered the siting room. He unceremoniously dumped something at the floor rather hard, and Alfred sympathized with whatever the man had been carrying.

He was surprise however, when another chair was pulled up beside his and ropes were readied. That must mean they had found Perseus! The Riddler cackled in excitement, and flung something in to the chair beside Alfred.

Alfred became extremely angry when he saw who had been captured. Perseus was slumped in the chair as ropes were tied tightly around the young teen's chest and arms. Percy's head was slumped down, and Alfred could see that the child's neck was encircled with large, hand shaped bruises. The side of his head facing Alfred was starting to bruise also, and blood ran freely down his face from a cut on his forehead.

The boy was undoubtedly unconscious, and had previously been choked before being hit in the head with a blunt object by the looks of things.

" How could you do this to a child?! Leave him out of this!" Alfred growled at the Riddler, who was staring at Percy with a smirk.

" Save it for the ransom call, old man, you've got to speak to your boss for us," The Riddler chuckled darkly.

Alfred cloud only glance in concern at the limp child tied next to him.

" Mr Wayne you have a call on line two," The secretary, a young woman called Margaret stated quickly, handing him a small phone.

Bruce sighed and took the phone, not another useless business call! He was already busy as it was.

" Bruce Wayne speaking," He confirmed tiredly.

" Master Bruce, it's Alfred. I am afraid we are in a bit of a situation at the moment. The Riddler has captured young Perseus and I, and demands fifty thousand dollars in one hour, or he will execute the boy," Alfred's British voice floated unsteadily through the phone.

Bruce's eyes widened and he gripped the desk tight with his free hand.

" Where," he simply asked.

" He demands you meet him with the money at Wayne Manor. Sir, you must come quickly or they truly will execute Perseus, and then later on myself," Alfred informed, a hint of worry for the young boy in his tone.

Bruce stiffened as the call was cut, and he blinked rapidly for a moment. His butler, and the boy were both captured. He had to give the ransom over! He would have to act fast if he was to get there in an hour.

" Don't worry Alfred, Percy, I'm coming," Bruce murmured to himself.
