How it happened

I was never the popular person.

Or the Athletic person.

In fact I was the complete opposite.

That's right, I was the shy, anti-social, loner who never spoke and did anything out of the ordinary. Unpopular, un-athletic, and quiet.

And yet I was always a target for everyone.

I never even did anything wrong. I was always nice to everyone.

Yet I was teased, laughed at, pushed around, rejected, and any kind of torment you could think of. No one would even touch anything I touched, they would rather have dirty, stepped on papers than a clean paper that I had touched.

Eventually I couldn't take it anymore, and I snapped. I stopped talking to people, I sat all alone, and I'd cry in a corner.

And since my parents passed away, I lived my life all alone.

And then THAT day happened.

The day my life changed forever.

One day during break before school starts, I went to go buy some stuff from the store. That's when I saw older men shoving a girl who looked a lot younger into a wall.

"Stop it, leave me alone, I told you I don't have any money." The girl cried.

"I know another way you can give us money." One of the men said.

"Why don't we ask that girl right there for money?" The other man said pointing at me.

They came over to approach me. One of them were about to speak, but as a reaction I now have to people who try to pick on me, I punched the man in the stomach. Some people say that for an un-athletic person, I seem to have a lot of strength. Which I guess it's true considering that the man fell to the floor due to the impact of my punch.

"You little brat, I'll show y-" The other man said before I grabbed his arm, twisted it to his back, and kicked him to the ground.

After that they both ran away. I didn't even do anything to serious but they ran away anyway.

I turned around and noticed a man asking the little girl if she's alright.

"I'm fine daddy, that girl saved me, she's really strong." The girl said and pointed at me.

"Is she good at fighting?" The girl's father asked and was now looking at me.

"Yeah, she made two grown men fall on the floor!" The girl replied.

That's when the man and his daughter walked over to me. I had no idea what they were doing or why they were so interested in my skills in self defense. I just stood there wait for someone to say something.

"Thanks for saving my daughter." He said.

"No problem." I responded. To be honest, it's been awhile since I heard myself talk out loud, so I hope I didn't sound weird.

"So how would you like to join my martial arts training center?"

What?

"Believe it or not, I actually own a martial arts training center, my name is Dave Alvarez, my daughter said that you are really strong and a good fighter, I was wondering if you like to test out a new training method."

What?!

"I'm sorry but I'm un-athletic, your training method would be a waste on me, and besides my parents passed away so I need a job that would pay for house and school fees, and of course for other things too." I replied.

"That's perfect! Actually, the new training method is for un-athletic people to become strong and good at sports, and in exchange I'll pay for your house and school fees." He said.

An offer like that is kinda hard to believe. With an offer like that, all I have to do is get a part time job and not have to worry about two huge payments. And I just have to test out new training methods for them. That's very hard to believe, but it's also a VERY tempting offer. I thought about if I should say yes to his offer or not because it's hard to believe people nowadays, especially when I was the kind of person no one would want to stand up for.

That's when Dave's daughter walked up to me and grabbed the sleeve of my sweater.

"You can trust daddy, my daddy doesn't break his' promises." She said.

I thought about it for a while, it might not be that bad, I don't really talk to people (or practically talk at all) but it shouldn't be hard to interact with people. And it would make it easier for me to get a part time job and do school work while not worrying about paying the house and school fees.

I think I made up my mind.

I bent down to the girl's height and said to her "My name is Alex, what's you'res?".

"My name is Angie, I'm nine years old." she replied.

"Well Angie, I made up my mind." I said.

"Really?! So are you joining, or are you not joining?" Angie asked.

I smiled at her. "I decided that I will join, I'm not athletic but I'll try the new training method, is that okay with you?" I told her.

Angie had a huge smile on her face. "Yeah, yay your joining! You and I are friends now." She said.

Me making a friend, that's a new one. I never thought that would be possible for me. I felt a warm feeling on the inside, I guess this is what it's like to make a friend.

"Good to hear that you agree to my offer." Dave said. "I have a question, you'll be entering high school soon right?"

"Yeah." I answered.

"You still need to put in you're information right?" He said.

"Yeah." I answered again.

"Are you going to a school with anyone who knows you?" He asked.

"No, why?" I said.

After being bullied for so long I made sure I was going to a school that was not only a good school, I also made sure no one I knew was going to attend school there.

"That's good, there's a reason for me ask you this." Dave said.

"Okay, what is it?"  I asked.

"I need you to do one small thing besides test out the new training methods..." Dave said. "...I need to attend school, as a boy."

Wait, did he just say I had to attend school... as a BOY!?

And one more time, I'm going to repeat myself....

....WHAT!?!?!?!
