Chapter 21

The helicopter managed to reach Manhattan where the Eyrie Building was sometime later before sunrise. Brooklyn's eyes brightened at the sight of his true home again, nudging Kita and pointing with a grin. "We're home, Kita," he said.

Kita glanced out the window and gasped in awe at the many buildings that were more than at the Ishimura village. "Oh, it is huge, and beautiful," she breathed, a hand on her heart.

Hudson chuckled at her praise. "We protect it every night," he explained. Kita had a hard time believing they were able to protect something this big, wondering if she would be able to play her part as the ambassador and a new protector.

Brooklyn took her hand, giving her an encouraging look. "I'll be right with you whenever we go out to patrol," he said, though deep down, Brooklyn didn't feel like he wanted to set foot out there unless he was taken away from his family again.

In the back, Lex sometimes felt his eyes drifting back and forth between Kaori and the window. He wasn't prepared for a new female to be around. And since Broadway had Angela, did he have a chance around this second girl? And did he even want to after giving up trying to win Angela's affections?

Kaori noticed him looking, feeling a bit nervous herself but played it cool for now, not wanting to embarrass herself. Bronx and Siveth were both wanting to land and play at the castle, woofing anxiously. Angela and Broadway did their best to calm them down.

Xanatos glanced at his passengers. "Not long until we land. Prepare yourselves," he said.

Brooklyn swallowed, holding his love's hand tight, seeing the Eyrie Building in front of them, more than anxious to be back in his own room. Kita rubbed his arm, speaking softly to him.

The helicopter circled around a couple times before eventually lowering itself to the ground on the castle landing pad. The gargoyles all leapt out of the copter and glided towards the ground, Brooklyn a tad wobbly on takeoff but managed to land ok, eyes round and shaking, the copter next landing nearby for the humans to get out.

Brooklyn swallowed thickly, seeing the walls of his home again, tears falling down, Kita giving him a hug. Goliath gazed at his Second, happy he was home. "Brooklyn, we're just so relieved you weren't so terribly injured so that you could return home. And Puck will restore your tail; we will ensure of it." He said, a hand on Brooklyn's shoulder, making him flinch a little.

"Yeah, sounds... good. But... I think I need some alone time," Brooklyn said in a croaky voice, weakly going to his room that he longed to rest in. The rest of the clan and the newcomers glanced at one another in confusion, Kita going after her love, hoping he was ok.

The red gargoyle stepped inside the castle, breathing a sigh of relief to be safe in the walls again, quickly walking to where his room was. When opening it, he felt himself calm down and went to sit on his bed, grateful for the privacy of his room. He collapsed onto the pillow, staring up at the ceiling, still finding it hard to believe he was really back.

Brook glanced over at his tail then however, and his heart ached with embarrassment over having this happen, feeling himself cry softly, knowing soon he would have to tell them about how he lost his tail.

Footsteps came along and it was Kita, who gazed at her love in concern and worry at seeing Brooklyn curled up on his bed, never wanting to leave it to go out of his home country for a good long while. She gently went up to him and stroked his hair, kissing his forehead. Brook jumped a little and gazed weakly up at her, seeing her smiling softly.

"I'm just happy you're home, Brooklyn. And thank you for letting me come." Kita murmured. Brooklyn weakly sat up, looking rather exhausted, as he and her both went in for a hug, Goliath and Elisa also coming in.

Goliath looked down at Brooklyn with gentleness in his eyes after the two lovers broke from their hug, Brooklyn staring back up at him. "I know you only just returned, but we need to fix your tail soon." Goliath stated.

Brooklyn wasn't so sure, holding it. "Are we sure we can trust Puck to have him fix it?" he asked in a scared voice, Kita rubbing his arm.

Elisa nodded. "We're sure, plus Alex will be helping too. But we can give you a couple days to rest before then. It is so wonderful to have you return." She next gave him one of her mother hugs. At first, Brooklyn flinched slightly but had a vision of Sasha in his head and he eventually wound up hugging her back, crying.

Broadway had gone to make a small welcome home dinner for Brooklyn before the sun had come up and outside, Bronx and Siveth had since been getting to know one another, sniffing each other's scents. Bronx was happy to have another gar dog around for him to be friends with. The two eventually began to play; woofing and running around the castle, Hudson trying to make sure they weren't breaking anything.

After the small reunion between Brooklyn and his leader, he and Elisa left Brook and Kita to be alone until Broadway brought the soup for Brooklyn. Kita nuzzled her love as Brooklyn spoke up.

"I didn't think I could make it home, Kita. And... I'm glad to have brought someone like you with me," he revealed, wrapping each other's wings around themselves. Brooklyn was happy to not be alone with his homecoming this time. Broadway eventually came with the soup for Brooklyn and Lex had come along too, smiling at the sight of his brother having found love, tears in his eyes. "Here bro, wanted to make you something to eat."

Brook glanced up at the sight of Broadway, wiping his eyes and shakily taking the soup. Anything seemed delicious now after having so much jet lag and traveling exhaustion. Kita saw it was chicken noodle but American style. Picking up his spoon, Brooklyn took a sip. It tasted great. Broadway had handed Kita another spoon and she too tried it, the two of them eating together.

Her eyes brightened when tasting. It was the most unique flavor. Brooklyn chuckled at her reaction. "There's plenty more different food than where this came from I can't wait to share."

"Are there any food stands for Japanese cooking too?" Kita asked, since she would sometimes like a taste of home. Brooklyn nodded. "Once the jet lag has worn off, I'll take you out on your first patrol/sightseeing," he offered, a hand over hers, making her turn red again. "But, do you really have a magic fay with you? I have so many questions."

Brooklyn chuckled. "We do. And Alex is a descendent of Oberon. Titania is Fox's mother. I'll tell you our story." He began to tell her.

Broadway left them to it, smiling slightly before going to join with his own mate, glad that Brooklyn wouldn't have to seek Angela's attention anymore now that he had his own female.

Meanwhile, Kaori herself was walking among the hallways of the castle, her eyes widening at how old it looked but how it had been refurbished into a modern living area. Lex had volunteered to show her to her room. He glanced at her with shyness. "Uh, hope it is nice here for you. I lived here my whole life before it was moved." Kaori looked down at the small olive gargoyle, giggling a bit from how shy his voice was. "It's nice, Lexington, isn't it?" Kaori asked. The olive male nodded, when they found a room that was somewhat near the nursery where Alex was.

Alex was playing with his mom after Fox unpacked when seeing his gargoyle caretaker, laughing but then looking curious about the new female with him. Kaori had spotted the child and her eyes lit up, having loved being around kids besides machinery. "Oh, he's so cute!" she exclaimed. Lexington grinned, glad to have something to impress her with. "I usually babysit the little guy whenever his mom is busy," he explained to Kaori who went in.

The baby cooed and begged to be picked up, Fox smiling at Kaori. "I trust you find our home well?"

Kaori nodded. "It is beautiful, Fox. I can't wait to explore more." Lexington couldn't get over at how beautiful Kaori's voice was but didn't know that she too was good with electronics just as much as him. He grinned at Kaori. "Uh, you want to hold him?" The gargess's eyes shone, taking the baby in her arms. Alex felt a bit nervous at first in this new gargoyle's arms but eventually felt comfortable.

"I love him," Kaori said in a happy voice, Alex taking a hold of her talon, eyes shining up at her. Lex felt his heart thumping, seeing how good around kids their new friend was, looking forward to spending more time with Kaori. He hadn't been too lonely when babysitting but it would be even more fun now with Kaori around.

After playing with the baby for a time, the sun was now about to come up. Brooklyn came out onto the parapets with his family, heart feeling light about being able to turn to stone again with them once more, holding Kita's hand in his own. At first he was nervous about standing out there in case Yegor had found them but Hudson assured Brooklyn he would be safe.

He had seen his brother Lex talking to Kaori about Alex, figuring his olive brother had introduced him to her. If this was Lex's chance to get his own mate, all three of them would have mates together, which made him feel happy about it.

Goliath came up to Brooklyn, a hand on his shoulder. "Tomorrow you can tell us your story and we can ask Puck to fix your tail, Brooklyn. Today, let the stone sleep rejuvenate you after all you've been through." Brooklyn wouldn't argue, feeling exhausted, seeing the sunlight starting to show. He and Kita both jumped onto perches.

"So, you face the sun here on the balcony?" Kita asked curiously. Brooklyn nodded. "It is our clan's way. I will see you in the evening, my love." He gave her a kiss, soon the stone covered him up in its comforting slumber, looking forward to gaining his tail back at last.
