Chapter 18
Taro began the phase of his plan to kidnap one of the gargoyle females to use to make his own gargoyle clan with to display in his gargoyle theme park. He at first went to spy through the village windows and rooftops, watching one couple in particular.
There was one with a red beak with another female beaked gargoyle as they hung out together. But Taro noticed something off about the red one; and that there was a missing piece of his tail that he saw in his binoculars. He hummed in interest and wondered if that could be a weakness to exploit.
After a week of spying, Taro was ready to write out a trick note for that female he learned was named Kita and managed to get his note written for her. He quietly snuck into the village and placed it on a bench near the entrance, quickly going out before he was spotted.
He had met up with Sevarius to obtain the pregnancy serum in case the male wasn't compliant in mating with her unwillingly to give him his gargoyles.
Brooklyn had gone to see Kai to ask how he would return home while Kita was on her patrol when not on healing duties. While on her patrol, her eyes caught something interesting lying on the ground which looked like a piece of paper. Picking it up, she read it;
Dear Kita (my love):
I have a special date for us both if you could be willing to meet me in the garden around 11:30. I'll be there waiting for us to spend such a romantic time together.
You brighten my spirits each day.
From the Red Gargoyle
Kita felt confused at why Brooklyn would write a note like this when he could've easily asked her in person. And she saw the signature at the bottom, which wasn't his name but Red Gargoyle, that caused her to see a big red flag. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to check it out and hope to gain a fun night out of it all.
She glided over into the garden of the Bushido where Taro waited for her holding a tranq gun, a sinister smile on his features. She really was the best looking female out there. And those beaks always peaked his interest besides the feathered winged gargoyles like that traitorous Yama. Oh, this revenge on Kai's clan would be most wonderful indeed.
"That's it, my dear. Come to me..." He whispered in a creepy way, aiming with his gun. Kita landed on the grass right around 11:30 like the note said, but she saw Brooklyn wasn't around. Where was he?
She glanced about in suspicion. This had to be a prank from her younger brothers, or else Brooklyn would've come. He would've never stood her up from a night together since he was obviously starving for a female companion. Kita could tell from his eyes he was terribly lonely even with his second in command stats in his own home.
Kita folded her arms, growling. "Alright, if this is some sort of joke, it is not funny. Come out! Where are you, Brooklyn?"
Now was the time. Taro smirked as he revealed himself. Kita's eyes glowed red as she gasped in horror. "Who—?" He directed his gun. "Settle down, girlie. I am an old friend of your precious leader. But I'm afraid you're coming with me." Before Kita could run, she cried out when a dart hit her in the right side. She gripped it, pain on her face.
"W-won't... go... anywhere..." She mumbled, woozy, as she collapsed, unconscious. Taro just chuckled, stroking her cheek, draping a net over her sleeping body. "Sorry my dear, but you won't be coming back here for quite some time. I'm sure that the red one will be heartbroken but I'm counting on him to come for ya. Now let's get out of here." He ordered three of his men to put her in a net and began to drag her out of the Bushido and take her back to his old building where he had wanted his gargoyle theme park.
...
As this was going on, Brooklyn and Kai were talking together on one of the rooftops on the north of the garden about what to do to get Brooklyn back home.
"Is there a way to see if Xanatos could fly me home?" Brooklyn had asked Kai who thought for a bit and nodded. "That would be the most obvious solution to return you home. And I'm sure your clan will be happy to see you return."
Brooklyn gave a shy grin. "I hope so. It's been too long for me to be away from Goliath and the others. And also... I wish Kita could come back to my home with me too. I think I love her Kai." His nerves felt jumpy when speaking this out loud.
Kai had seen them together quite a bit but hadn't interfered since this was normal for this to happen for two gargoyles to fall in love, no matter which clan they belonged to.
"If she agrees to come she can go, but I do not wish to lose our most experienced healer," Kai then stated with a little sadness in his eyes. Brooklyn could understand but his soul told him his heart belonged to Kita, the only girl that didn't despise him and left him. He nodded. "I'm going to find Kita so the three of us can make preparations."
Kai nodded too and Brooklyn glided off to find Kita. He scoured all along the village trying to find her and even checked the medical wing. "Kita?" He called out, wondering where she was. He eventually decided to check their meeting spot, the garden.
Upon arriving there, Brooklyn knew something felt off. He saw two pieces of paper on the ground. Picking up one, he read that it appeared to be a love note from him to Kita but not in his handwriting, and his name wasn't even present. He growled, crumpling the note then picking up the other.
If the red one is reading this note, I already have your precious girl with me in my gargoyle amusement park that never came to be. And I want you to come to my place to see my plans for her with no funny business or that leader Kai with you. I promise I won't hurt the girl if you come alone.
Taro, former Bushido student
Brooklyn's eyes glowed white; his heart felt burned in rage, having mental flashbacks about Sasha's death, and not wanting the same fate to his new love. He gripped the note hard in his hands, screeching in the night sky. He would have to ask Kai about this Taro person.
"I will save you, my dear Kita!" Brooklyn cried, tears in his eyes as he went to discuss the kidnapping.
Kai himself was just as enraged when hearing of this and Brooklyn showed him the note. Taro was back and wanting to gain revenge for the fall of his plans to show off gargoyles as exhibits. "You can't go alone, Brooklyn. You don't know Taro like me and my clan do. He could hurt you and Kita greatly."
But this wouldn't dissuade Brooklyn. "I don't care, Kai. I love Kita and I won't let her be in the hands of a psychopath! I'm going alone like he wants. But be ready should I not return," he said in a low voice, eyes glowed up.
Kai nodded, knowing from Goliath that Brooklyn could sometimes be hard to argue with. "Very well. I wish you our safety, from all of us."
The red male saw all the other gargoyles and Kaori filing in next to their leader. A small smile appeared on his beak that he had the backup of an entire clan once again after all those times alone. He missed it. Kaori looked teary-eyed as she held out her hand. "Please bring back our sister," she whispered, planting a small kiss on his cheek. Brooklyn nodded, shaking her hand, and flushing slightly from her kiss and leapt onto the building, taking off into the air.
....
He followed the instructions Kai gave him to the building that seemed to have been abandoned until Taro somehow gained it back secretly after breaking out of prison. He growled softly hoping that Kita wasn't hurt. Brook had been given a device from Kaori before leaving that he could use to call for help if they would be in trouble.
Upon landing at the front doors, Brooklyn saw the glass doors sliding open. Automatic obviously. He stepped in, seeing the unused amusement exhibits. Brooklyn didn't like how it looked, especially with that goofy looking gargoyle statue with that stupid smile. What was going through this Taro's head to do this to exploit gargoyles? Goliath had told him about all this but this was his first time witnessing what actually happened.
Brooklyn moved to the second doors and tried to open them but the one behind him closed shut, making him gasp. He ran back to the exit but it was closed tight and the glass was the non-breakable type. Brooklyn grunted when slamming his shoulder into the glass to break it but it sent him to the ground. He rubbed his head and groaned.
"Welcome red guest. I'm sure you're wondering why I trapped ya in there."
Brooklyn hissed. "Where's Kita?! You had no right to kidnap her!" He bellowed, scratching the glass on the second door to the inside but it still didn't break.
"I assure you, she's quite safe. But I can't have you leave right now... and time for a little nap..." Brooklyn wondered what he was talking about when he heard a hissing noise, which turned out to be sleeping gas. He winced and began to cough, trying to not breathe in the sweet scent, covering his nose but it didn't help as his senses began to grow dull, eyelids drooping, shaking his head. He managed to at least press the button on his wrist to call the clan.
His legs soon gave out and he fell on his side, vision spinning, hearing Taro's evil laugh before passing out.
....
An hour later, Brooklyn awoke, groaning from a headache. His body felt restrained against something around his arms and his middle tight by chains.
Brooklyn glanced around to see himself chained to the gargoyle greeting statue on the left leg. He snarled and tugged as much as he would allow himself to, but eventually felt weak. That gas did a number on his strength. The voice of the gargoyle rang in his ears too with the greeting that made him growl in irritation.
He soon saw a new human with dark hair and wearing a jumpsuit walking up, a smug grin on his features at seeing his new catch glowering but still lying down against the statue.
"How funny to see a living gargoyle tied up against my greeting gargoyle. This should be quite the attraction here," Taro stated in a snide tone. Brooklyn roared more, unable to pull away from his chains and his arms already felt stiff. Taro ticked with his tongue. "You have such bad manners like your leader. Yes, I know you're from Manhattan."
Brooklyn didn't care at the moment, wanting to tear this guy's head off. "Where's... Kita...?!" He demanded gruffly, panting heavily from tugging. Taro came up and petted his head. "No fear, you shall see her soon since you two are now the two main attractions of my dream that I haven't given up on. Not even them throwing me in prison could keep me from it," he said threateningly.
He then saw the dismembered tail with a grin, going over to touch it. It made Brooklyn flinch up in fear and tension, still hating anybody touching it until his tail got fixed. "How... lovely. Whoever did this, I commend them. Gives you a more interesting look for my customers." He taunted, flicking Brooklyn's beak with his finger.
Brooklyn snapped at it hatefully. "Don't you dare touch it!" The young male roared. That made the man mad before deciding to bring out Kita.
Taro snapped his fingers and eventually, Brooklyn saw two red clad guards dragging in a struggling gargoyle. "Let me go! Let me go!" It was Kita. His heart ached in fear for her life, now realizing his true love for Kita, and he never wanted to see her hurt. Small tears came when she was pushed down at Taro's feet.
"Such strength," he mocked, as Kita saw Brooklyn with fear in her eyes. "Brookl—!" Someone tied a muzzle around her beak. "Shut up!" Snapped a guard. This irked Brooklyn further, struggling weakly but the gas still made his muscles weak. He had to get loose!
Taro stood between the two lovers. "Now, this is how it is gonna go down. Since I couldn't get Kai and his big family, I figured I could select the two gargoyles who loved one another the most, which happened to be you two. You are going to help me make a nice collection of the gargoyles I want people to come see."
The two young gargoyles felt stunned at this notion, looking at each other in disgust. Brooklyn snarled again. This wasn't right! "No, Taro! Kita and I won't be forced to mate for you to use our children and have them live in captivity on display! Hatchlings need to live as free gargoyles, not like this!"
One other guard came up and zapped Brooklyn with a taser he had on him, making him yelp in pain. Kita felt tears come out of her eyes. This was too much to see the one she loved to be harmed. Taro snickered menacingly. "Even if your lover doesn't wish to be forced to mate with you, dearie, I have a remedy." He stroked her cheek, which made her flinch and pulled out a needle with a strange liquid in the syringe.
Brook panted softly as he looked up after being shocked, wondering what it was. "What...?" He asked weakly.
Taro just chuckled. "A little something from my friend, Dr. Sevarius. Something I will use to gain my little gargoyle children faster..." Then Kita knew, and she panicked, wiggling in in fear. Brooklyn himself was terrified and disgusted. To make her get children without a husband was wrong and perverted! He wouldn't allow it, hoping the clan would come soon!
"And just think. Think of how the children would react at seeing baby gargoyles. They could play with them," Taro then said in a most insistive voice, but Kita and Brooklyn wouldn't have any of it, Brooklyn's eyes glowing while he wiggled.
"I won't let future hatchlings grow up as exhibits and playthings!" He roared, tears coming down. Taro then walked close, grabbing his beak. "Soon it'll be too late. You and Kita shall be the attraction parents of my gargoyles, whether you want to or not— what?!"
To Brooklyn's surprise, the glass roof above broke through, the roars of Kai hitting his ears. A smile came onto his face when seeing the clan charge in for the ambush. They had heard his signal.
"Taro!" roared Kai as he and Sora both tackled him to the ground. Kaori landed and broke Brooklyn free from his chains first. He collapsed to the ground and quickly ran to Kita, punching and throwing the guards. Kita sobbed when hugging him, as he took off the muzzle that had brought him flashbacks of being at that horrible auction.
"Are you alright, my love?" He asked in worry, stroking her cheek. She nodded. "Yes." Kaori remained near her sister as Brooklyn went to confront their kidnapper.
His eyes flashed, Taro trying to get away, but Brooklyn grabbed him roughly. "Nobody... threatens the one I love. Especially not slime like you!" Brooklyn tossed Taro Kai's way, who held him tight. "This has gone too far for you, old friend," The older gargoyle said in disappointment. He took the chains that held Brooklyn and once again attached Taro to the statue.
Brooklyn stood there, panting heavily after dealing with their foe as Taro glowered down at them. "You'll pay! I will track you down, red one!" He shouted, struggling. Kai gazed at their guest. "How about we get out of here?" He suggested.
Brooklyn nodded as he took Kita's hand, and the clan all flew out of there in the hole in the glass back to the Bushido. While they left, police cars came around since one of their human allies phoned the cops about it.
