(12) Who Am I To You?

Jungwon waded around in the shallow area of the ocean, gazing at the suns shadow along the beach.

Jay stood not far away, watching his crush.

"So, is now the time?"

Jay looked over to see Heeseung.

"Yeah. I think it is. I'm going to...confess."

"You got this Jay."

"Thank you man."

Heeseung patted Jay's shoulder before Jay began to walk toward Jungwon.

As he neared his crush, the boy looked up at him with a precious smile.

"Jay! Want to swim with me? We can see who gets the farthest out before we see a fish."

"That sounds fun...but I need to talk to you first."

"Really? About what?"

Jungwon stands up, facing Jay.

The two stand in the shalows, waves crashing around them gently onto the sand.

"Jungwon, I need to tell you this. It's been on my mind for a while."

Jungwon listens closely, his head tilted slightly.

"Ever since I first interacted with you I have felt something in my heart. You make it beat faster when I'm near you. You make me smile, and bring the greatest joy to my life."

Jungwon starts to smile.

"I can't stop thinking about you no matter what I'm doing. And that's because..."

Jay takes a deep breath.

"I like you, Jungwon. I've had a crush on you for a while...and I couldn't go another day without telling you."

Jay looked at Jungwon, waiting for a response.

"Haha, Jay...it is about time! Jeez I was thinking you would never say something."

"What..."

"Jay...I like you too."

Jay looks around.

"I think I'm dreaming. Are we still on the bus and I'm just sleeping?"

"No, you're not. I'm here and so are you."

"So...that means..."

"That means you like me and I like you. So what should we do about that?"

"I have the answer.", Jake replies, walking up.

The two look at him.

"Boyfriends.", he whispers.

Jungwon shyly smiles.

"If Jay agrees..."

"Yes!", Jay responds, "I mean...yes. Jungwon, will you be my boyfriend?"

Jungwon smiles even wider.

"Yes I will!"

Jay jumps and hugs him, making them both fall in the water as they do.

Jake laughs at them, issuing a congratulations before he walks off.

Heeseung stands by a chair, watching Jake walk to him.

"Finally dating?", he asks.

"Yep. They're cute."

Jake stands by him, looking at the waves with Heeseung.

"Jake?"

"Hm?"

Jake turns to look at Heeseung.

Heeseung faces him, getting closer. He leans in, kissing Jake on the cheek.

"W-what was that..."

"My first kiss to you. As your boyfriend."

"Boyfriend? You? Mine?"

Heeseung walks toward the water.

"Hey! Wait!"

Jake runs up to him and hugs him from behind, making Heeseung laugh.

"Thank you Heeseung..."

"No need to thank me. I just gave you an excuse to kiss me for free."

---------------------------------------------------------

Sunoo splashed around in the water with members of the swim team.

Sunghoon supervised from a distance, making sure Sunoo was safe.

Ni-Ki walked over to him, holding drinks.

"I got you a cocktail. And a non-alcoholic one for myself."

"I was just about to ask you if you were old enough to drink."

"I wish I was. You guys stress me out."

Sunghoon laughs, taking the drink.

"So. Do you feel better about the situation with his mom?"

"Not really. I feel like something bad is going to happen."

Ni-Ki thinks for a second.

"It'll be okay Sunghoon. You guys can power through this."

"I hope so."

Sunghoon looks out at the water again, this time, he doesn't see Sunoo.

"Baby?"

He looks all around, and can't see him.

Ni-Ki notices as well, and sees Sunghoon's demeanor change instantly.

"Sunoo!", Sunghoon yells as he runs to the water.

The team members who were playing with Sunoo are looking as well, and can't seem to find him.

Panic immediately settles in as they search the water, the only place he could be.

"Baby! Baby!"

Sunghoon yells once more before going under the water.

The waves have picked up and are now more furious than minutes before.

He looks around under the water and still can't see him.

As he comes back up, he gazes around again, but the scene looks different.

There aren't as many people, and the water is calmer.

When he looks down at himself, it doesn't seem like him. It seems like...

"Mark!", someone yells, "Help!"

He looks to his right, seeing his  boyfriend frantically waving his arms as the waves pull him out.

Realizing what's happening, he runs towards him as quickly as he can, this memory mimicking his present time situation.

"Haechan!", he yells, "I'm coming baby!"

He dives into the water, swimming out to get him.

He spots him floating in the water in front of him, and manages to grab his shirt before the waves push him out further.

He rises out of the water, holding his boyfriend tightly.

"Baby! I got you!", he yells as they swim to shore.

Making it to the shore, he lays him down on the sand.

Looking up, he notices his friends, letting him know he's back in the present time.

"Thanks for the help uncle Mark...", he whispers, looking down at Sunoo, who coughs up water.

People surround them, watching Sunoo turn on his side and reach for Sunghoon.

Of course, Sunghoon grabs him and hugs him closely.

"Sunoo, are you okay?"

"I...*cough*...I'm okay. I don't know what happened..."

Sunoo softly cries, holding onto him.

"It's okay. I'm so sorry baby...I should have been with you. I wasn't looking, I'm so sorry.", Sunghoon says.

Coach comes over and helps them, making sure everyone is okay.

The boys decide to call it a day and all head inside.

Sunghoon carries Sunoo, not wanting to let him walk.

When they reach the room, Sunghoon quickly gets a towel and wraps it around his boyfriend.

"My sweet angel...", he whispers.

Sunoo looks at him.

"Sunghoon...I saw them. Again."

"Our uncles?"

"Yeah..."

"Me too. When I first came out of the water it was like I was reliving a memory of the same thing happening to them."

"I feel like...it's getting closer."

"What is?"

"We're seeing them more often. The things that happened to them are happening to us..."

Sunghoon looks sadly, holding Sunoo's arms.

"Hoon, I saw them earlier too. In their apartment. It's the same apartment where..."

Sunoo's lip quivers.

"Hey, don't cry. Sunoo we can do this. We're not them anymore."

"We are more them than you think. Their souls are still in us. Everything we do now is influenced by them."

"I don't get it."

"You're right. We do need to talk to my mom. We need to talk to your parents too. But not us...Haechan and Mark."

Sunghoon sighs, sitting down next to Sunoo.

"Do you think...they haven't moved on..."

Sunoo turns to him.

"They haven't. They have unfinished business here and that's clear now."

Sunghoon dries Sunoo's hair.

"You know, my mom always said I acted like I was possessed. Imagine her face when she finds out it's by the spirit of her brother."

The two laugh.

"How about we take a nap? I feel like we need it after the day we've had.", Sunoo suggested.

"Let's do that. But first. Change your wet clothes. We don't want to turn this into a water bed."

"Ooo, I want a water bed."

"Not an ocean water one of course. You've already had enough of that."

"Rude."
