Chapter Twenty-Three
Taehyung and Jungkook rushed into the bar. Their eyes immediately found Jimin, who was sitting by himself at their previous table.
"Jimin!"
Jimin looked up, looking wary. "Oh," he said flatly. "Hey."
"Where's Yoongs?" Taehyung asked.
Jimin looked over to a dark corner of the bar. Taehyung and Jungkook both followed his gaze. Jungkook's mouth fell open, and Taehyung growled.
Yoongi and Seokjin were sitting at a table by themselves. Yoongi was sat on Seokjin's lap as they practically sucked each other's faces off.
Taehyung began stomping toward them, but Jimin's voice stopped him. "It won't do any good." Taehyung looked back at him.
"What?"
Jimin sighed. "You won't be able to stop him. He's bound and determined to do this. He's so upset about Namjoon, Tae. He's drowning his sorrows in sex."
Taehyung grimaced at Jimin's frank words. "Well, we can at least stop him before it gets that far."
"I don't know," Jimin admitted. "They've already talked about going back to Seokjin's hotel room."
"What?!" Taehyung shrieked incredulously. Jungkook's mouth continued to hang open.
Jimin sighed. "I should've never brought him back here."
"Yeah, about that," Taehyung spat. "What the fuck were you thinking?!"
"I knew he was going to do this whether any of us liked it or not. I figured it would be a good thing for at least one of us to keep an eye on him. He wouldn't have anything to do with either one of you, so I thought if I could get him on my side, I'd be able to stop this."
"Fat lot of good that did," Taehyung said angrily. "You practically facilitated this!"
Jimin hung his head but said nothing further.
Suddenly, the door to the bar flew open. Startled, the three friends looked over and were shocked to see Hoseok and Namjoon entering the bar.
"Hobi!" Taehyung shouted. "Namjoon!"
They looked around at the sound of their names, and found Taehyung quickly. They rushed over.
"Where's Yoo..."
Namjoon's question trailed off before it even finished. He froze. Taehyung furrowed his brow, then followed Namjoon's gaze. Taehyung sighed as he realized Namjoon had spotted Yoongi and Seokjin.
Hoseok looked over as well, and his mouth fell open, leaving him looking just like Jungkook had. He then nervously looked at Namjoon.
"Joon, it's not – "
"He really did it," Namjoon whispered.
Hoseok wasn't sure if Namjoon was referring to Seokjin, Yoongi or both. He placed a hand on his friend's shoulder.
"Joon – "
To Hoseok's surprise, tears filled Namjoon's eyes as he forced himself to look away. Hoseok, Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook watched their friend sympathetically as he dropped into a chair. A tear rolled down his cheek. "I think I'm gonna be sick."
Hoseok wanted to say something - anything - to comfort his best friend, but he honestly wasn't sure what to say. He simply stood there, at a loss.
"You know what? No," Taehyung suddenly said. He began stomping over to the couple, fury in his eyes. Neither Seokjin or Yoongi noticed as he approached them until Taehyung grabbed Yoongi's arm and pulled on it.
Seokjin and Yoongi broke apart. "Hey!" Yoongi said, looking up at his friend with disdain. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Yeah, what gives?" Seokjin added. "We're busy."
"Come with me," Taehyung commanded, still holding onto Yoongi's arm.
Yoongi pulled his arm out of Taehyung's grasp. "Leave me alone, Tae."
"No," Taehyung said.
"Excuse me?"
"No," Taehyung repeated. "This is wrong, Yoongs, and you know it."
Seokjin suddenly snorted and Taehyung's head snapped toward him. He narrowed his eyes.
"What?"
"He's a big boy," Seokjin said. "He can make big boy decisions."
Taehyung scowled at him, but didn't reply. He then turned his gaze back on his friend. "Yoongs," he said. "Namjoon is here."
Yoongi's breath hitched. "What?"
"He's right over there," Taehyung replied, thrusting his thumb over his shoulder.
"Did he see – "
"Yes."
Suddenly, Seokjin began nuzzling his nose against Yoongi's neck. "C'mon, Yoongi," he said. "Let's go ahead and head out. My hotel room is waiting."
Yoongi looked down at Seokjin, eyes wide. "I..."
"C'mon," Seokjin repeated. "You know you want to."
"Yoongs," Taehyung said, a tone of warning in his voice. "Don't do this."
"I..."
Seokjin tapped Yoongi's thigh, indicating he wanted him to stand. Yoongi did as instructed. Seokjin then stood and took Yoongi's hand. He pushed past Taehyung as he began leading Yoongi toward the door of the bar.
Yoongi avoided looking at his friends as they passed by them, but Seokjin made sure to meet Namjoon's eyes. He smirked at him as Namjoon's face fell into a look of hurt and betrayal.
Taehyung hurried after them, but they exited the bar before he caught up to them. He and all their friends looked over at Namjoon.
"Joon," Hoseok said. "Go after him."
Another tear rolled down Namjoon's cheek as he shook his head. "He made his choice."
"He thinks you don't like him," Taehyung interrupted. "He thinks you left him here earlier because you don't want to have anything to do with him."
Namjoon looked up at Taehyung, confusion etched across his face. "That's not true."
Taehyung sighed. "We know that. But Yoongs doesn't."
"Go tell him," Hoseok encouraged. "Before it's too late."
"I – "
"Go, goddamn it!"
Everyone looked over at Jungkook in shock. He hadn't spoken at all in the time they'd been there, so they were surprised by his sudden outburst. Namjoon met his eyes.
"GO!"
Namjoon quickly stood then and hurriedly made his way to the bar door. He pulled it open quickly.
"Yoon!" he cried as he rushed outside. "Yoon, wait!"
Yoongi and Seokjin were standing on the sidewalk, waiting on a cab. Yoongi looked over at Namjoon as he rushed toward them.
"Yoon, don't do this! Please!"
"Namjoon," Seokjin cut in. "Go home."
But Namjoon ignored him. "Please, Yoon. I..."
Yoongi searched Namjoon's eyes, waiting for him to continue. Namjoon seemed to have lost his words, however, and he didn't say anything else.
Seokjin placed a finger under Yoongi's chin and turned his head toward himself. He leaned down and kissed Yoongi. Namjoon blinked away tears.
Suddenly, the cab pulled up to the curb, and Seokjin took Yoongi's hand again. He pulled him toward the cab and opened the door for him. "Your chariot awaits," he said with a smile.
Yoongi hesitated, looking back over at Namjoon. He finally addressed him.
"What?" He asked quietly. "What do you want to say?"
Namjoon was again at a loss for words. He simply stared at Yoongi, hurt evident in his eyes.
"Joonie," Yoongi continued. "Do you want to say something? Anything?"
"I..."
Yoongi sighed when he didn't continue. He turned back to Seokjin, who had already slid into the cab, and allowed him to pull him into the car.
The door closed and the slam seemed to shock Namjoon out of his reverie. He rushed toward the cab.
"I love you!"
Yoongi's head snapped to the side and he stared, wide-eyed, out the window at Namjoon. He opened his mouth to say something, but the cab sped away.
"No!" Namjoon cried. "No, wait!"
Suddenly, Namjoon's car appeared in front of him. "Get in!" Hoseok shouted. "Hurry!"
Namjoon immediately opened the door and sat down in the car. Hoseok peeled out without even waiting for Namjoon to buckle his seatbelt.
Namjoon looked over at Hoseok with tears in his eyes. "He left with him."
"I know," Hoseok said as he concentrated on following the cab.
Namjoon could hear Taehyung talking quietly to Jimin and Jungkook in the back seat.
"I told him I love him."
The car fell silent. Hoseok glanced over at Namjoon in shock. "You did?"
Namjoon nodded.
"And he still left?"
"He was already in the cab," Namjoon explained. "He was going to say something, but the cab left."
Hoseok pressed his foot harder on the gas pedal. He wove around cars until he finally found himself directly behind the cab.
"Hobi," Namjoon said, looking over at his friend with tears in his eyes. "What if I'm too late?"
