A Steamy Night In Brooklyn

FUN FACT: Racetrack was the real life Spot Conlon. (And Kid Blink was the real life Jack Kelly)

Oh yeah! Reference to s*x

Spot and I are sitting in the back of the carriage which is riding to Brooklyn. There's a couple hundred boys and girls following suit. One boy catches up and starts talking to Spot.

"Sir, are you really bringin' Kelly's sista tah Brooklyn?" The boy asks. Spot looks at him with an arm wrapped around my waist to keep me close.

"Of course. Why wouldn' I, Oliver?" Spot asks with sarcasm biting the boy.

"Well, for staras, this might cause a borough war if Jack decides tah press inta it," the boy named 'Oliver' says. I smile and put my hand up to say something.

"Sorry to intrude, but Jackie wouldn't do that. I can make sure of it," I say, which Spot rewards me with a kiss on the cheek. Oliver nods.

"Okay, then. But some people might think dat it's weird for ya to be datin' his sista," Oliver points out, but Spot just scoffs.

"Does it look like I care what othas think 'bout me?" Spot asks. The boy sighs and shakes his head. "Good. Now screw off, ya dumbo."

"Spot, don't be cruel," I say, letting him know that I don't like the way he treated that boy.

"Youse right. I guess I jus' didn't want tah hea' 'bout us bein' happy makin' things woise," he says, wrapping an arm around my waist.

"That's so sweet. But c'mon! Let's do something fun!" I say, trying to get him to be less like a lovebird and more like a partner in crime.

"Like what?" He asks.

"Steal!" I yell, my eyes as wide as a cartoon for the dramatic effect. He chuckles and brushes a stray strand of hair behind my ear.

"But darlin', you already stole my heart," he says. I put on a sweet smile, which quickly turns into a smirk. I can see the fear in his face.

"And your cane," I say, holding up his cane in my hand which was once in it's holder. He looks shocked and snatches it back.

"Damn, youse a sneaky thing, ain't ya?" He says with a smirk. I nod, sitting back in the carriage. "Looks like someone's showin' dere true colors, eh?" He asks. I duck away, trying to hide from his statement.

"No... Maybe... But I want to do something dangerous. All I've ever done is play is it safe, and I don't wanna do that right now," I say. He nods, looking around at everyone.

"We'se almost at Brooklyn, sos whiles we wait, do you have any ideas of what you wanna do? Like, in detail?" He asks, which makes me think. I don't really know what to do.

"I... Have no idea," I say with a chuckle. I can see him thinking for a moment, then a spark ignites in his eyes.

"I'se got an idea. It'll be fun," he says in a tone which lets me know that he's being vague on purpose.

"Mind telling me what it is?" I ask. He just shakes his head and looks forward. I know that no matter how much I'll beg, he won't tell me. "Well, I know that I'll probably have fun."

I watch the people walking with us slowly break apart, walking to their own jobs and homes. The only people still following are the Brooklyn newsies. I can see the Brooklyn bridge coming into near view.

As we cross over, I feel anxious. Not the good kind. It's probably because we're crossing on a carriage for the first time. The feeling is gone as soon as we finish crossing the bridge, however.

The docks appear in front of us, and Teddy turns to us.

"Well. This is your stop," he says. Spot hops out first and holds out his hand for me to take, which I do. But before I hop down, I turn to Teddy.

"Thank you so much, sir! Have a lovely day!" I say to him excitedly, loud enough to be heard over the boys cheering. Teddy smiles and tips his cap.

"You too, young lady," Teddy says, getting the driver to turn around and drives back. I turn back to Spot, who's smirking.

"Oh no," I say, before I'm picked up by Spot, who throws me over his shoulder and starts running. I can't stop laughing as I look up at the boys' expressions of confusion, and some of happiness.

I hear a his footsteps go from concrete to wood. And I see us standing on the docks. He then sets me down, and I see that we're at the end of the dock, and he's out of breath and looking down at my eyes.

"So what've you got planned?" I ask him. He just smirks and pulls me closer to him, so close that our chests are touching.

"Depends on how well you can swim," he says. I smile back at him, grabbing onto his unbuttoned collar.

"Oh, very well. But the real question is," I begin, then lean into his ear. "Who goes in first?" I whisper. I can hear his shaky breath.

"I will," he says with a slight voice crack, which makes me laugh a little.

(I'm writing this on my school computer so it always feels a bit weird to write this kinda stuff)

He takes off his shirt, showing off his slightly tones abs. He doesn't have a six pack like Mush, but maybe a four pack. He then strips himself of his pants, leaving him in only shorts.

"Meet ya in rivah," he says with a wink then jumps into the river. The water splashes me.

"Oh you're gonna get it, Princy!" I yell, tossing off all of my clothing that isn't my bra and underwear. Jumping in, I slightly freeze up because of the cold. I don't start drowning, but start shivering.

I look around, trying to find Spot, but he's gone. I'm about to call for him, when I'm splashed from behind. I turn around quickly, but all I see is the top of his head ducking back into the water.

"Oh, so you wanna play that game, huh?" I ask, even though I know he probably can't here me. I stay quiet for as long as I can, trying to keep an ear out for the water breaking. Once I hear it behind me, I turn around and splash water at him. He does the same, and we both end up splashing each other.

As I'm wiping the water out of my eyes, I hear a few other boys getting in the water a good couple meters away.

I open my eyes, and he's gone again. I sigh, preparing to splash him again. But this time, it's harder because there's more boys who are splashing around a lot.

Suddenly, there's a pair of arms wrapping around my waist. I let out a yelp, even though I know it's Spot. I laugh and turn around, wrapping my arms around the back of his neck. He laughs too, burying his face in my neck.

(There was inappropriate stuff here, and I realize now that it's a no no, so I just took it out. But because it's important to the plot, I'll just say that there was hickeys)

Spot's POV

I open my eyes after waking up from my slumber. Looking down at the beautiful girl in my arms, I feel a sense of peace that I've never felt before. I pry my eyes off of her and onto the clock, which shows that it's six o' clock.

Slowly and carefully getting out of bed, I walk over to my dresser, trying to find an outfit for me to wear, and one for Ash.

I finish getting dressed, then look in the mirror, finding a few hickeys and don't care to cover them up. I press my hand against one of them, and wince slightly from the pain.

I walk downstairs, down to the boys who are still awake. They immediately look at my neck and smirk.

"Man, did things get kinky last night?" Track-Runner asks. I chuckle and glare him down.

"You should see what I did tah her," I say, trying not to let the boys know how weak I am for her. Paces high fives me, letting me know that he's a real bro.

"Dude, youse gonna get your ass beat by Jackie boy," Renner says. "Did you use protection?"

"Of course we did. I'm nat an idiot. And about Jack, what can he do? Try tah beat up da king? I have way too many men fah him to even think 'bout comin' ovah here and try tah hoit me," I say, which makes him nod.

After a minute of us talking, I hear light footsteps coming down the stairs. I turn around and look up at Ash. She walks downstairs and sits next to me at the table I'm sitting at.

"Hey, Spots," she says, mocking me with a cute nickname that's almost as cute as her.

"Heya, darlin'. You look lovely tahday," I say, brushing a stray bit of hair behind her ear. She turns to my boys who I was talking with.

"Sup. You guys probably already know me, but I never got the chance to introduce myself. I'm Ash," she says, with charisma so strong that even I'm impressed.

"Why hello there. My name's Renner. I'm one a Spot's spies," Renner says, spitting in his hand and holding it out for her to shake, which she returns after spitting in her hand. I can see the clear shock on his face.

"I'm Track-Runner. I get da name because I'se beaten everyone in a race. That's why I'se jus' a newsie, no special job like Renner," Track-Runner introduces, just choosing to wave this time.

"And I'se Paces. Whens I get upset, I pace a lot, sos they named me Paces. I usually is just here tah help people sell deir extra papes," Paces says with a smile. Paces was always the nicest boy here.

We all start talking for a couple minutes, nothing about us, just talking about things in general. Like the strike, borough leaders, poker, and pretty much anything that came to mind.

After about ten minutes, Ash then coughs to get our attention.

"I best be heading home. I wouldn't want Jackie to worry about me," she says, standing up. I turn to Renner and whistle to get his attention.

"Ren, go follow her, make sure dat she gets home safe. Is that alright, my queen?" I ask her, taking joy in the blush that dusts her cheeks.

"Of course," she beams. She then leans down and kisses me on my lips, it's brief, but enough to keep me happy for the whole day. "I love you, my king!" She then walks away, with Renner following beside her.

I look back to my boys, who are all smirking at me.

"You picked a good one. She's real nice, not dat I'm tryin' tah hit on 'er. But you got lucky, 'my king'," Paces teases. I glare at him, which just makes him start laughing.

"I gotta agree wit' Paces, she's a real keepa and a sweetheart. I can't believe ya did dat to her, though! I mean, you saw how purple and brown 'er neck was, right?" Track-Runner asks. I smirk, trying to make it look like I'm confident in my choices, when in reality I'm terrified of being beat up by Jack.

"I have my reasons."

Your POV

Renner drops me off at the lodge. I try to use Jackie's bandanna to at least slightly hide the markings, but fail, as the bandanna's too small, and there's way too many hickeys.

As soon as I walk through the door, all eyes are on me, which makes me anxious. Race walks up to me and leans against me, lighting his cigar.

"You do know dat youse got hickeys all over ya neck?" He asks ever so casually.

"No. I had absolutely no idea," I say sarcastically. He then turns to face me and turns my head to get a better look.

"Dang, he really did a numba on ya," he says, which I nod to. "Did you go all da way?" Mush walks over and smacks him in the back of the head.

"Dude! That's none-a ya business!" Mush whispers to him, then turns to me. "Whatevah did and didn't happen, I don't care. I'se just real proud dat you have someone who loves ya as much as Spot does."

I smile and hug him. Blink walks over and groans, however.

"Why's ya proud? That means dat none-a us can get wit' 'er!" Blink complains. I just laugh.

"Yeah, even if Spot wasn't around, I wouldn't be 'wit'' any one of you. Except for maybe Mush. But that's just because he's a sweetheart," I say, which makes everyone laugh. Blink then walks over to me and looks me in my eye. I have to turn my head up a bit just to do the same. He then lifts me off the ground and into a hug, slightly swinging me around.

"This is why youse so amazing. And I'm not hittin' on ya. Youse like a sistah tah me!" Blink yells. I laugh and hug him back. He sets me down and then looks at me with a serious face. "But you should prolly hide before Jack sees ya."

"'Jack sees' who?" A familiar voice calls from a distance. All the boys back away from me, revealing myself to Jackie. His eyes have widened and I can see the anger in his glare as he looks at what Spot did to me.

"Heya... Bro."
