❧ On The Couch with @shrinkingviolets_

Her writing is really amazing and I feel she deserves so much more. From her story "Me Without You" which is short but it also tells the tale of how you lose your old self when in love and finding that person afterwards.

Today I am joined by Lou, shrinkingviolets_ who was kind enough to take off some of her time and join me "on the couch."

Also, words in [this format] are "said" by me during the interview.

Let's get to this...

What was Wattpad like when you first started posting stories?

Wattpad was extremely different when I posted my first ever book on here. I'm pretty sure there were no inline comments so getting feedback was a lot more difficult, and people were a lot more into clichés so there was more pressure to write books that fell into that category.

But now I'd say that people are now more into finding books that are different and original and even though those clichés are still popular, it's nice to see that some different and original books are making it in the ranks.

What inspires you to write?

I've always loved reading and I have to say that if I hadn't found wattpad, then I probably would never have been inspired to write. But seeing what other people have written on here and reading published books really does motivate and inspire my own work.

How do you fight off writer's block?

I usually wait until it's late at night (for some reason, I always think better when I'm about to go to sleep.) I also try reading, walking and listening to music.

What inspired you to write, "Me Without You"?

"Me Without You" was really based on an old boyfriend of mine. We had a bittersweet relationship which ended badly and writing "Me Without You" helped me let out any emotions that I was still feeling from when things were broken off. It also helped me see and reminisce about the sweet side of how relationship too.

[I think that it is really courageous of you to post something that you wrote with so much emotion]

Who would you say, is your favourite all time author (on wattpad or published)? What is your favourite work by them?

I'd have to say JK Rowling, because Harry Potter was literally my entire life when I was younger and still is really. Though, I'm also reading Gayle Foreman's works at the moment, I've just started "If I Stay" and I can already tell I'm going to love it.

[I'm also a big fan of the Harry Potter series]

What is your favourite song at the moment?

[at the time of posting]

Well, because of the time period I've been listening To Christmas songs lately, so I'd have to say "Christmas Lights" by Coldplay is still my current favourite.

Snapchat or Instagram?

Snapchat- I use it a lot more often than Instagram.

The worst, yet funniest, pick up line you've heard or have been told.

One time a guy actually came up to me on a camping trip and used the pickup line, "Did you just fart because you blew me away." It was definitely one of the worst pick up lines I've ever heard but it did actually make me laugh so I'll give him that credit.

What is your favourite colour and why?

Definitely teal because my room is basically covered in that colour.

A quote that inspires you?

"Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations."

[That is a very inspirational quote]
