❧ On The Couch With @iwearheelys

Her story "When My Shift Ends" is both exciting and solemn, they both come well in full circle and it's no wonder she won a watty for it.

Hey guys todays I'm joined by Brittany (iwearheelys) agreed to join me "on the couch"

∥ note that words appearing in [this format] are comments made by me as one would do on a talk show kinda thing ∥

Let's get to this...

How would you say did the Wattpad community respond when you Post d your first story?

I think that overall, people were pretty nice despite the fact that my first story was the definition of trash. I didn't receive a lot of criticism staring off.

What are some if the things you do when you have writer's block?

I take a break usually. I try to find inspiration again- sometimes by watching a TV show, sometimes by listening to music, etc. I just try to find a way to get the spark back. It also helps to just sit down and force yourself to write. Idk how to explain it, but sometimes making yourself write forces the creativity out of you.

[I wish it was as easy for me to force myself. My mind just wanders if I force myself to do something]

What are some of the things you do when you're not reading or writing?

I watch a lot if kdramas (laughs) that's what a lot if my free time is spent doing. I also really like traveling and going on "adventures", even if the adventures of the day is like spending four hours in a book store. I just like getting out and living...but I equally enjoy staying in and pretending I'm not alive. A true introvert.

What inspired you to write your warty award winning story, "when my shift ends" and your story that deals with an important and sensitive topic in society, "Z"?

For "When My Shift Ends" I'd always wanted to write a story about a guy who had cancer, and I'd always wanted to write a story about a guy who works at a graveyard. The thought of the two emerging made me excited, so I did it...as for the rest of the story, it's mostly just a lot if thoughts I've had that I put in my writing (laughs) I like to believe I'm a fairly deep thinker and I wanted to reflect that.

"Z" happened because I was angry and I wanted to write a story that reflected that anger.

What would you say caused "When My Shift Ends" to gain the same recognition that it did?

I don't really know to be honest, recognition on Wattpad isn't really something to be predicted. When I started wh n my shift ends, I already had a little bit of a following, I think that definitely helped. Other than that, I'm not really sure.

Do you have a favourite author (on Wattpad or paperback published) who inspires you to write?

I feel inspired by a lot of writer friends on wattpad. I think they're all really talented and it inspires me to better, so I don't feel like the loser of the group (laughs) I'm just kidding... kind of (they're all really crazy talented)

[you're so sweet]

What would be the worst, yet funniest, pick up line you've heard or have been told?

One time I was walking through my apartments and a little boy asked me if it hurt when I fell from heaven. That was pretty cringe.

A couple of weeks ago in the drive- thru ( I work at a Starbucks) one of my regular customers asked me, "so I've been wondering...can I consider this a coffee date?" and I wanted to throw up.

Do you have a series that's you just started watching or have been watching, that you just can't get enough of?

One of my favourite series is called Goblin. It's a Korean drama and it's amazing. Like I said, I just mostly watch Korean drama's and anime these days. I haven't watched quite as much as western culture media! Though I am thoroughly enjoying American Horror Story.

Favourite social media?

[at the time of posting]

I used to be really into tumblr but these days I find myself on twitter the most. Probably because I talk to a lot of my friends on there. I don't know if I necessarily have a favourite though.

What's you favourite song at the moment?

[at the time of posting]

I've been listening to BTS's new album, "Her" mostly. I also really like this song called, "Television Romance" by Pale Waves. I listen to songs I like so much that I end up hating them eventually so I don't expect this answer to be something that I agree with in a few months.
