Marinette

The soft keys of piano rang in my ears. But once my eyes fully opened and adjusted to the pink ceiling above me, they slowly disappeared.

A dream?

I winced, clinching my head from the sudden throbbing. A part of me really wished I could just stay home and wait till the pulsing in my temples passed. But I already knew skipping would result in immediately getting expelled. Without a doctors note, I have no choice but to go to class.

After quickly showering and putting my hair into two small ponytails, I went downstairs to see my father baking. The kitchen smelt like cupcakes.

"Good morning" My dad said sweetly.

"Morning" I grumbled, my eyes burning from the lack of sleep.

He continued to stir a fluffy mixture that could have easily been whipped cream. But since he was baking cupcakes, it was more likely a airy frosting. I stuck my finger into the bowl as I walked past and tasted it. I was right.

My hand reached into a already open cabinet and my dad turned as I pulled out a medication bottle. I opened the cap and popped a pill in my mouth, swallowing it dry.

"You okay?" My dad questioned, frowning as he watched me put the pills back. I kiss his cheek quickly and smile.

"Of course, I just woke up with a migraine" I answer shortly. Running upstairs to get my dance bag, I notice the pills not working as fast as they usually do. I grab my bag.

Maybe I should take another?

I shuffle towards the front door while taking a quick look at the clock. If I don't hurry, I'll be late.

"Marinette"

My head turns to the sound of my dads voice, my hand already on the doorknob.

"Are you really okay?" He asks again.

I hesitate for a moment before smiling flatly.

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" I ask, glancing at the clock again. Why is he asking me so many questions.

"It's just that you only get headaches when somethings bothering you"

My face starts to feel hot, memories from last nights disaster creeping back into my mind. Suddenly my migraine seemed to get worse.

"I...I've got to get to ballet dad" I finally say, running out the door like I always do.
