His Blessing (Part 2) - Bryles.

Myles' Pov

"Hey Myles, what are you doing here?" smiles Alan as he opens the front door.

I walk up the driveway, clammy hands and deep breaths. "Hey Alan, are you free to talk? I have something quite important that I just wanted to run by you"

"Of course! Briar with you?" he asks looking around confused.

"Um.. no actually, just me today" I stutter, hoping he doesn't find that too peculiar.

"Oh um... okay" replies Alan "Come inside" he says smiling and welcoming me into his home.

"Tamara in?" I prompt as I wipe my feet on the welcome mat.

"Yes, I believe she is in the garden somewhere" he ponders, "Shall I go grab her?" he asks, concern spreading across his face. (That doesn't make me nervous at all). I nod and he heads towards the back door leading to their massive garden that has always been kept in perfect condition.

I decide to wait in the living room, questioning what I am going to say to them. Shall I just come out and say it? NO. That would be a mistake I don't want Alan to die of a heart attack before I get the chance to explain. I bet Tamara would be rather surprised and all. I look around the room and a smile creeps onto my face. There are pictures of their family everywhere. A lot of them are Briar and Abbey as children. Seeing Briar like that reminds me of the first day that I met her. We were twelve, almost thirteen, I had just joined the Canadian Dance Company after finishing Billy Elliot on Broadway. She welcomed me with the biggest smile and my young heart skipped a beat when I saw her gorgeousness. I remember having the biggest crush on her for years and years until we were 16 and finally got together. We have been together ever since an di have never been happier.

"Hey Myles, this is a surprise" beams Tamara walking into the room, snatching me away form my thoughts instantaneously.

"Hey, it's good to see you both" I nod politely.

"So Myles... what's up?" says Alan s he and Tamara take a seat on the opposite leather couch.

"well you see..." I mumble.

"You want to marry Briar don't you?" Tamara smirks. What the hell!? How the heck did she know? I felt myself turn tomato red as I just sat there speechless.

"I uh.. I jus-"

"Let me stop you right there" Says Alan's manly voice calmly. I look in his direction and try my best to make eye contact with him but I am petrified. Was this a bad idea?

"Let me save you the hassle of making the speech on how much you love our daughter and how you would do anything and blah blah blah..." he says in a weird tone.

"But sir-"

"Because we already know, Myles" he spoke, his face turning into a smile.

"You do?" I ask confused.

"Of course we do Myles" replies Tamara. "We see the way that you look at Briar, we see the way you treat and protect her and we see that you would do anything for her" She finishes happily.

"I really do love her" I whisper.

"And we know that she feels the same about you" says Alan "Myles we already consider you family".

Hearing these words makes me feel elated. I have tried so hard over the years to make sure that Briar's parents don't think I'm a total waste of time and now.... to hear this? It makes my day.

"Does this mean... that I..?" I ask confused and hopeful.

"Yes Myles, you have our blessing to marry our daughter".
