Chapter Two
[Logan's pov]
"Oh you two" Mr. Cartic said in a condescending tone with a roll of his eyes. He's never happy to see us. I guess that's cause we've been here seven out of the twelve years we have been alive.
"It's adoption day. Some of you lucky kids get some parents today. Be on your best behavior if you want to get adopted" Mr. Cartic announced. It was the same announcement every Friday. I never got adopted anyways.
In case we did, Virgil and I would trade our yearly photo with each other. If two people adopted us separately, then we would have these photos to remind us. It was a safety precaution really. No one has adopted us in seven years, so why would anyone now?
"On your beds, quick" Mr. Cartic instructed. He exited the room to allow the potential adopters in. It was the usual Friday procedure. This whole adoption day thing only took an hour.
-Time Skip-
"Hello, Virgil, meet Mr. Heart" Mr. Cartic said to Virgil as he pointed to a man in glasses and a cardigan. Whoever he was, I already didn't like him.
"Uh h-hello" Virgil stuttered. He glanced at me nervously. I mouthed it's okay in an attempt to make him feel better. In all honesty, I was nervous too.
"It's nice to meet you, Virgil. I'm going to be your new father" Mr. Heart said. My heart dropped. He can't take Virgil away.
Virgil gather he stuff up. The little clothes he has, his stuffed animal, and his photo of me. When Mr. Cartic turned around, he ran over and hugged me. We whispered our goodbyes before he turned back around. Mr. Cartic took Virgil and Mr. Heart outside.
I will never forget the man who took my Virgil away.
"I'll be back for you soon, Logan" Mr. Cartic said to me before leaving the room. Someone wants to adopt me? I guess it's better than staying in this place alone.
"Logan, meet Mr. Prince" I heard Mr. Cartic say. I looked up and saw some man in a ridiculous get up. I guess he's the one adopting me.
"You can call me Roman, or dad if you want" He said. He stuck out his hand. Does he want me to shake his hand? I suppose so.
"Roman will be sufficient I suppose" I told him. He looked at me in surprise. I wonder what's so surprising. You can't expect a kid to call you dad the first time they meet you.
"Your vocabulary is..." He trailed off. Good? Surprising? Exquisite? He really needs to finish his sentences. It's annoying when people don't.
"I've heard that it's quite substantial for someone my age. Especially someone who was strictly homeschooled." I said. He nodded, still shocked. Mr. Cartic just shook his head and took us outside after I gathered my stuff. Roman finished some paperwork, and we left.
"This'll be great, Logan"
Having Virgil was great.
Oof, that was long. The boys have been separated. I mean, if they were adopted by the same people then they would be technical brothers, and their relationship would be incest so yeah. Well anyways, thanks for reading. Comment, vote, whatever.
