"Well one thing's for sure. This island isn't called Helz Isle for no reason." A cream fur coated feline told Shane as they walked through the Eastern forest.

"I highly doubt that cats are a threat, Tobi." Shane countered as she looked upon her newly found ally. What he was saying was actually quite ironic, considering the fact he was with her.

"I wasn't talking about us, cats." Tobi stated as he climbed a nearby tree and sat on its thick branch to grab her attention.

"There's a monster on the loose within this island." He started as his tail swished sideways from agitation. ".. and he's probably hunting you the moment you arrived."

Shane crossed her arms as she tilted her head to the side. "Are you trying to scare me? Because you're doing a pretty crappy job."

"Heh. I'm not trying to scare you, Shane." Tobi said as he brought his furry little paws upon the teen's cheeks.

"I'm warning you!" The cat hissed as he locked his chocolate brown eyes with Shane's hazel ones.

"Oh really?" The girl mocked, finding the idea ridiculous. Not to mention that she was actually being threatened by a talking cat.

"Don't believe me?" Tobi whimpered as he dropped down to the ground receiving a brief nod from Shane.

"Fine then. Follow me." He motioned at the girl with his paw as he scurried ahead towards a vine covered wall. "I have something to show you."

Tobi brought out his claws and sliced on a certain spot, letting the vines drop to the ground like snakes waiting for a chance to snap on its prey as a rusty metal door came into view.

The cat pushed it open, activating a series of lights of what seemed like..

"A Marine Base?" Shane gasped as she slipped pass the door, eying at the slumped dead bodies of Marines across the mid-sized station.

There were traces of blood through the walls, each leading to a brutal death. The very sight was inhumane. Who could've done this?

"It's more of a former.. experimental lab." Tobi sighed out as he turned over a large swivel chair that revealed a bloody dead scientist with a metal pole stabbed beneath his throat.

"That must've been so painful.." Shane gulped as her hand shot up to her throat, imagining how the man's reaction should've been. The way he struggled from the killer's grasp--

"It would've been." Tobi replied with a queasy expression. "But he was already dead before they did that to him."

"What do you mean by already dead?" The girl queried as a puzzled look swept across her face.

"He wasn't killed by the people who rampaged through this place." Tobi answered as his eyes swept over the remains of the Marine Base. "The doctor brought death upon himself."

"Why-"

Tobi wasn't going to let himself be interrupted. "You see Shane, the doctor was my master. He was a good man." Tobi glanced at the doctor's body before he turned the chair around to obscure it from eyes view.

"He was known as Dr. Aurir Shaw, one of the Marine scientists stationed here to perform experiments for the World Government thirteen years ago." The cat informed while rummaging through a series of drawers.

"Experiments? What kind?" Shane asked as soon as Tobi poked his head out of a certain drawer, holding a silver container with a golden lock through the middle.

"These." The cat waved the box as he placed it on top of a study desk. "Stupid box won't open!" He cursed as his teeth bit over the lock.

"Cute." Shane scoffed as she took out her sword and motioned for Tobi to move. "Let me give it a shot."

"I'm not cute!!" Tobi glared with his big cat eyes as he bared out his fangs and dropped down the floor. "I'm hot!!"

Shane chuckled at the cat's sudden outburst. "Yeah you are."

With one precise strike, the lock went off the box. And being the curious girl she is, Shane quickly opened it and saw a multicolored fruit inside.

"The Marines wanted to gain more power." Tobi said as he studied Shane's expression. "And so they experimented with the most powerful thing they could ever get their hands on."

"Devil Fruits." Shane finished as she stared at the fruit inside the box. She thought they were a mere myth. Guess this clears it out.

"The doctor conducted his research here since the government strictly considered it highly confidential. After all, who wouldn't if the main purpose of the project is making replicas of these mystical fruits."

"Replicas? You mean this isn't the real thing?" Shane questioned as she took out the fruit from its container.

"That is somehow different." Tobi countered as he snatched the fruit from Shane's hands. "It's a consolidated devil fruit. In other words, it's merged with different abilities."

Merged devil fruit abilities? Making a replica of the fruit already got Shane thinking but combining them as well? That's crazy.

"How is that even possible?"

"That's one of the geniuses of Dr. Shaw." Tobi pounded his chest proudly then handed the fruit back towards Shane. "I'm proud to say that I was the first one to get tested on."

"You ate one?" She inquired as her hand wrapped around the fruit's pear shaped figure.

"Yep. I can change my color and size any time I want." He grinned with a smug look on his face.

"And you're actually planning to make me eat this." Shane thought out loud as she examined the fruit within her hands.

"Yep! And I assure you that these devil fruits, replicated, made or combined, were already tested by three cats (A/N: the doc had a wild obsession over cats) and it all turned out successful." Tobi schooled as he stood on his hind legs and gave a thumbs up.

"But I've got to warn you though." He suddenly turned, back facing Shane, as he gazed upon the broken glass tubes through the walls.

"The doc died trying to eat one of the fruits even though there were four human test subjects that survived before him. Guess there's really some things that aren't meant to be."

"Guess so." Shane chewed then suddenly made a sour face. "What's up with the taste though? Ugh.."

"Whaaaat!? You ate it already!?!" Tobi turned around, seeing the fruit was already half eaten which made him fall face flat to the ground. "We're you even listening to me..."

"Of course I was!" Shane scowled as she took another bite of the fruit. "I just got hungry that's all."

'I'm flyiiiing!!' Blaze cheered as one of his lifelong dreams came true, of course completely setting aside the vigorous bad breathed roar of whatever that thing is, as it sent him hovering across the room.

"That all you've got?!" Blaze taunted as he emerged from beneath the mass of carcasses that broke down his fall.

With another ear-splitting roar, the beast started charging at the red head on all fours, making the ground convulse violently within its tremendous size as it neared its one and only target. Blaze.

'Me and my big mouth..' The lad almost kicked himself earlier for saying that!

He just had to pick on the big guy.

"I guess a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do." Blaze declared as he faced the outraged monster closing in at him within a fast deadly pace.

Its eyes were gleaming in pure outrage as it continuously glared directly at him, trying to melt him with its deadly poisonous stare. It was as if he was facing death in the eye himself.

Clutching his bare fists, Blaze bolted from his spot..

Towards the other side.

'RUUUUUN!!!' His little Blaze subconscious kept on shouting out repeatedly as it pounded its little hands through his brain.

Who was he to argue with that?! It's what kept him alive all this time! Blaze assured himself to somehow ease the rising guilt from his sudden cowardice as he kept on running through the convoluted maze of the subterranean cavern.

A poison disintegrated sword, a limited-running-zone, and an undeniably growling stomach, the odds were definitely not in his favor.

He needs to think of a plan. Stat.

Blaze made a hard turn to the right, seeing that it was merely boulders of rocks ahead, but the beast had had enough of this wild goose chase, so it leaped through the air with one hand raised, ready to claw down the terror-stricken red head.

Where the hell's luck when you need it?!

Ducking within the nick of time, Blaze's eye suddenly caught a glimpse of something gleaming across the room. A black figure that stood out from all the frost colored bones. A katana.

'That's it!' With newly found motivation, Blaze sprinted towards the weapon as his poison freak adversary struggled to get its hand free from the boulders' unyielding trap.

"You'll never get out of here alive!!" It bellowed in anger as the monumental gravel started crumbling beneath his hand.

Grabbing the sword's hilt, the red head quickly unsheathed it, revealing its jet black blade with blood like stains engraved through its edge. [SEE PICTURE ABOVE]

"Tch. We'll see about that!" Blaze raced towards the behemoth-looking creature as it burrowed its feet firmly on the ground.

'All of these people died because of this 'thing'..' The red head gritted his teeth in anger as he dashed through the proximity, seeing the lifeless eyes of the said victims.

"You'll pay for what you've done!!"

Sword clashed with prodigious horns at the very moment they neared contact, sending streaks of bones hurling violently through the air. It was a death defining battle between man and beast as they struggled from their current position, one wrong move and it'll be the end of it.

Sweat trickled down the said teen's forehead as he felt his aching muscles throbbing in protest over the beast's burdensome strength. It's true that he did weights once in a while to loosen up but he never considered to try this much before.

As soon as his body started giving up on him, he immediately side stepped, letting the horn plunge through the gravel earth, giving him the chance to step on its precluded horn and slice off the other, making his opponent groan in unmitigated anguish.

"YOU BRAAAAT!!!"

The giant bellowed in utmost frustration as it uprooted its immured horn forcefully, sending Blaze propelling in mid-air once again. It all happened so fast that the next thing the red head knew was that he was free falling towards a nice deep chasm filled with squishy human entrails.
