Chapter 8

Pet's Pet

The morning today felt like a disaster. I was just rolling around in my dream pork land when I saw bright light burning the yummy meat over the horizon."Um... what is happening?" I asked myself loudly. I closed my eyes for a while and pondered about the fire. I opened my eyes again to take a look at the pork horizon to see the sunlight glaring at me instead."AAAHHH!!!!" I screamed. I rolled around for a while trying to get the sun off my face when I accidentally rolled off the bed instead.

I opened my eyes to see... nothing."AHH!! I CAN'T SEE!" I screamed. There was NOTHING. I was stuck staring at the endless void.

I began to loose hope when I heard muffling sounds and saw Cat holding MY fluffy pillow."Good morning it is, right?" Cat glowered at me. I smiled in relief."And I thought I was blind." I sighed."Next time, never face the window when sleeping." Marek said as he placed his paw in the cool furnace.

"So, what's for breakfast?" I asked them."I get beef steak, Cat gets some cooked fish, and you, pork." Marek said as he handed out our food with glee. For a few minutes, we ate silently. But I can't take it anymore.

"So..." I began, my mouth full of food."What's the action plan for today?" I asked. Cat looked at me as she swallowed her food."Hmm... I'm not really sure. I thought we could go and chop trees and--"

"Oh no we wont!" I interrupted Cat. The thought of wasting the whole day punching trees made me feel bored."So, what's your big idea?" Cat asked me as she crossed her arms. Marek looked at me and asked,"What'll we do, HapPy?" I looked at the window."We've only been to the jungle-- well maybe Cat did, but we still haven't explored our surroundings properly." I told them as I opened the door, letting the morning breeze in.

"What SHOULD we do?" Marek asked. I glared at the them."Duh! We go to an adventure!" I shouted at them."Hmm... Good Idea! 'Bout time we go together as a family!" Cat exclaimed. Marek and I gave her uneasy looks. Cat laughed."That was a joke." She told me neutraly. I shook my head in disbelief. At least she's improving. (?)

As soon as we finished breakfast, We began packing up our items for our trip. I held on to some bones I got, some apples, a pickaxe and torches. As soon as I finished double checking my items, I headed outside to meet Cat and Marek. Cat packed up weapons and other defensive items while Marek held the food.

"Is everyone ready?" I asked the two of them. Cat inspected Marek."Unless we will carry the house, I think we're ready." Cat replied. I smiled at them and looked over the horizon. We only had four choices: Past the waterfall, further down the river, down the waterfall, and the spruce forest further than the jungle.

"So, Haps," Cat asked."Where do we go?" I looked at the spruce forest. Cat looked at me and turned to the forest."The wolf habitat, eh?" She said as she walked towards the spruce forest holding a sword ready on her right and a torch on her left. I held my pickaxe and followed Cat. Marek held a sword and causiously proceeded.

The biome was quiet when we entered. No sound but the swaying tree branches were heard. It feels like we're being watched. I told myself quietly. Cat looked at the compass she got from the crater."Home's that way." She pointed behind me and Marek."Let's continue heading to the other direction." I told her.

We continued deeper in the forest when we heard some rattling sounds coming from... everywhere? My dog instinct activated when we heard the sound and before I knew it, I took the pickaxe behind me and swayed it next to the shady tree. The leaves were blocking the sunlight and it was a bit hard to see, but I was pretty sure I smashed a skull.

The figure I hit kept on waving back and forth, making funny rattling noises. The figure finally stopped, and it slumped down, lifeless in front of my feet."A skeleton?" Marek exclaimed in shock."They must've been the ones making the noise!" Cat said as she leapt up, missing an arrow that came out of nowhere by an inch. Marek and I were surprised but amazed. Sometimes when she does that, I always wonder if I'm cousins with a cat girl or a ninja.

Marek swayed his sword around, coincidentally hitting a skeleton that sprung out of nowhere. As he did that, another one sprung from behind Cat. It shot an arrow at her but she quickly sidestepped to the left, missing the arrow. She quickly spun her sword around and sliced the skeleton neatly into two. She quickly jumped up to miss another skeleton that tried to shoot her. Cat aimed her sword at the ferocious thing as she was landing down. Meanwhile, there's another one coming from behind her she did not see. I lunged at it and kicked it on the ribs, making it stumble back, dead.

"They're coming out if everywhere!" Marek shouted to us. I looked around. Arrows flying everywhere, bones rattling around us, and we're in a dark place! We were outnubered.

Cat waved her sword in front of me to deflect an arrow, Marek retreated and went to Cat's side. The skeletons came rushing in, and it seems that there's no escape.

The skeletons pointed their bows at us. They were everywhere."I hadn't really expected this is how I'll die." Marek told me."I actually expected I would die drowning on a cold ocean because i tried to chase a penguin." I sighed at him."Not helping." I replied. The skeletons looked like they were gonna release the arrows and end our life in a few seconds. I smiled weakly.

Just before the skeletons released the arrows, we heard a howl. A wolf howl. As we began to wonder what would happen next, a skeleton fell limp on the snowy grass with an arrow stuck on the skull.

In lightning speed, all the other skeletons vanished. Either they died or they ran away, that came out of nowhere. Marek and I began to celebrate when Cat told us something wrong.

"The fun ain't done yet lads..." Cat said softly as two wolves came out of the dark and cautiously approached us. They crept towards me. ME. I looked at Cat and Marek. They seemed to be panicking for me. I sighed and got some bones from my pockets and son enough, the two wolves began acting like 1 month old puppies."Awwwww! How cute!" I complemented one who was making cute pup-- er wolf eyes at me.

I patted the wolf on the head when the other one started making cute eyes at me."Cat, help!" I screamed. She quickly reacted and asked in a worrisome tone."Something wrong?" She asked me.

"Wrong?! There's nothing wrong!" I told her."I don't know who to choose!"

Cat sighed and watched me Plat with the two wolves."Why don't you get the two of them instead?" Marek suggested. Suddenly, a redstone lamp popped out of my head. Great idea!

I grabbed some bones from my inventory and waved it at the wolves. They started yelping and howling. I grinned and gave one to a wolf, who instantly turned into a... dog.

"I do not understand our life here." Cat told me out loud."I mean, if you tame a wolf, it turns to a dog!" I sighed and gave the wolf another bone. As the dog consumed the bone, a red collar appeared from her neck.(Yes, It's a girl)

The wolf--which is now a dog, kept barking happy sounds as it stood up, running around."Happy dog she is." I laughed."What if... Happy is her name?" I asked. Cat stared at me blankly. I have better things to do other than you taming dogs." Cat sighed. Marek went to my side and patted Happy."But you two are named Happy, so how will we know who is who?" Marek asked.

"My name is HapPy. Her name is Happy." I explained. Marek stared at me confused."So... where's the difference?" He asked."I am HapPy, pronounced as happy. She is Happy, pronounced as 'Hapi'." I explained to him.

" I give up." Marek replied. I laughed as I gave the other wolf a bone. The wolf, like Happy, turned in to a dog, but with a yellow collar."Bark! Bark!" He said to me.(It's a Boy!)

The dog, unlike Happy, pounced around, trying to get something. A butterfly, bird, ant... It's sounds like a mythical creature habit. The harpy? I don't know, but harpies were my best guess."I'll call you Harpy!" I said gleefully to the dog as it looked at me.

"So your HapPy, she's Happy, he's Harpy?" Cat asked. I looked in her direction and replied."Yes."

"Can we go now?" Marek asked as he looked up high at the sky."We may be in a dark area, but I can tell noon from night." He said as he got an apple from his inventory.

The walk home wasn't that long. It took us roughly 10 minutes to get back home. By the time all thre--five of us were safely in the house, it was sundown. Happy and Harpy sat together as Cat, Marek and I got into a small meeting about what we'll do tomorrow.

"Our house is getting crowded, considering the fact there are five of us now." Cat started. We looked at the two dogs. Happy was sleeping on the chest while Harpy was running around in circles."Are you saying that we need to expand the house?" I asked. Cat nodded. I sighed."I'll get the stone." I said as I got my pickaxe and torches."I'll get some wood!" Marek said excitedly as he went to the crafting table."I'll build the house with our remaining materials." Cat said as she sat on her bed. I looked outside the window. Midnight."We better sleep." I told them."We have a big day ahead of us.
