Chapter 10
Detective HapPy
Through the window, I watched Cat leave the plains heading to the jungle forest. I sighed heavily. I felt like disobeying Cat's orders for a while. The rain is strong and if I stay out there, I could be blown off the house or something. Cat could have been halfway done already. Maybe even done! I looked at the window again. The sky was turning a bit blue but the rain was still strong."Marek," I spoke softly as I patted Harpy on the head, who was sleeping on my lap."What were you doing in the jungle?" I asked myself.
"How did he end up getting badly injured in a jungle?" I wondered. Ocelots are harmless, as Cat told me. He couldn't have fallen high up the trees. Cat met him badly injured on his back. But she did say that he was wounded. Maybe he was attacked by a mob? A bit impossible. If you get bitten by a zombie, you will end up sick. If a skeleton had hit him, he should probably be dead. Spiders, well they have venom that could kill anyone in Marek's state. Endermen could have killed him. Creepers as well. So maybe...
"Other people tried to kill him?!" I asked myself, startled. I stood up all of a sudden, and Harpy fell of my lap. The dog fell to his right, and let off a tiny whimper."Sorry!" I apologized to the dog as he stood up and glared at me. So there is a high possibility that there are other players that tried to kill him. But I can't jump into conclusions just yet.
"However, this is the best shot I have." I told myself. I looked at the chest. Cat said she found weird papers and stuff when she got to the explosion site and the area where she found Marek. Maybe there are some stuff there that could finally let me understand what on earth is wrong here. I went over to the chest, wondering. Marek dissappeared. And those extra footprints tell me that he hadn't gone and chased a butterfly. I opened the lid and searched for the papers. I saw seven of them in Cat's hands, so I need to look for those 7 papers.
After a few minutes of looking for the papers, I found them all stacked neatly in the very bottom. I snatched them and closed the chest. I sat on the floor and scattered all of them."1... 2... 3..." I counted. Sure enough, there were seven. All of them looked crumpled and untouched. Cat and Marek didn't bother read these. Maybe they read it already? Maybe they hadn't? Well I have to read it anyway.
"All of these are journal entries." I said. I read the first one. It read Entry number 76.
-------------------------
Entry Number 76
They are here. The murderous army commanded by their twisted king had finally set foot in our land.
Ruins were all that's left, and to think that my brother would join them... I cannot even think of him. The shame we carry.
-------------------------
I looked at the entry horrofied. So there are abandoned People like me, Cat, and Marek. But they are killers. They are not worth living here. They lack the standards of good morale. I continued reading in fury.
-------------------------
Entry Number 79
The beasts captured more and more of my surviving people and kept them in this abandoned, dusty, and unsafe mineshaft. Those who tried to escape were deeded to the cave spiders, or executed by the grief in group's lead general, Kallar. Everyone thought he was the big boss here, but I saw his shadow from a distance saying apologies to someone. He's already horrible and I fear Teo think of how brutal his master could be.
Every night, I could see my relative, prisoner like me just across my cell. We secretly send messages about a succesful escape attempt every night, where the guards are sometimes falling asleep in duty. Every morning we are randomly being chosen off out group just to be fed to the spiders. These arachnids are far more dangerous than the ones on the surface. Their venom is very deadly, and they have longer fangs than their cousins.
They chose my best friend last night. She was a villager. A little girl. And she was swallowed whole. I cried the whole night as my cousin watched me helplessly.
As I mentioned a while ago, we have a plan. Either me or my cousin will be chosen. As we are called, we will plead to be joined by someone. That is either me or him. We will be left alone in a room full of spiders. Luckily I got an anti venom potion we can share and we can find a way to escape the room for let's say, approximately eight minutes.
I wish I could write more but ite is almost time for them to pick the unlucky one. Hopefully it will be one of us. I must go now, again.
-------------------------
"This..." I said softly."This plan... Intriguing." I said curiously. Cave spiders."Hm...." I hummed as thunder roared outside. I looked outside. The sky was darker than ever. Soon enough, this will be a storm. I'd best start working. I'll read a bit more later. I looked at the time. Sunset.
"Already?" I exclaimed. My goodness. It seems my work is now harder than ever.
