03 - New Home
Instead of seeing only one motorcycle, there were two sitting in front of the garage. Ava stared at the house in awe, along with Peter. Ben offered to go in, and Ava nodded. Unlocking the door, Ben gave Ava her keys before letting the twins in and following them. They looked around the house in amazement and Ava felt at home. As they explored the house - more like mansion - Ava saw that there was a record player and multiple records in every single room. There was a lot when it came to the house, and Ava couldn't help but feel grateful. Soon enough, the three were leaving the house and were heading back to the castle. Ava locked up the door and she walked in between both boys.
"Hey, I really am sorry about Tony. When he was here, he would talk about you two a lot. He really cared about you guys," said Ben as he looked at both Ava and Peter.
Ava felt her eyes watering, but she gave Ben a genuine smile. "Thank you."
Ben nodded and they continued walking. That is, until.
"Benny Boo! There you are," said a girl in a sparkly pink dress. She began to approach the trio and air kissed Ben before noticing the twins. "Who's this?" She asked Ben as she forced his arm around her. Ben let out an awkward chuckle.
"Audrey, this is Ava and Peter. Ava will be staying here in Auradon for a while. Guys, this is Audrey."
"Princess Audrey. His girlfriend."
Ava nodded her head and Peter wrapped an arm around her shoulder. They continued walking with Audrey joining them, and the twins walked behind the royal couple. Peter tried not to laugh, so Ava nudged him with her elbow. However, Ava too struggled to not laugh at the situation. A dog barking filled the air and Ava turned to see a small dog running towards them.
"Aww," cooed Ava as she bent down and began to pet the dog.
"I see you've met Dude," said Ben. Peter joined his sister on petting the dog and Ben smiled at the scene. "He's the campus mutt. Dude, meet Ava and Peter."
Dude licked Ava's cheek and she giggled. "Oh my God, you are so adorable, Dude. I'm going to have to steal you every once in a while," joked Ava. Petere chuckled at this, but then noticed how annoyed Audrey looked.
"Why don't we take Dude with us? I think May, Happy, and I should be leaving soon," said Peter, and Ava frowned but she nodded in agreement. With Dude in her arms, the four continued walking to the castle. As soon as the castle came into reach, Audrey dragged Ben away. And once the couple was gone, the twins burst into laughter.
"She's something else."
"That she is. Good luck."
Ava laughed at her twin. The guards saw them and one of them began to lead them back to the room where everyone else was. As soon as they walked back in, Belle sent them sad smiles. Ava smiled back and sat next to aunt May. "So," Ava started, "is this a good place? You know. No sign of an alien invasion?" Everyone chuckled and Happy turned to her.
"It's a good place. Tony made sure that there would be no sign of danger so you can't get hurt."
Ava gave him a pained smile and continued to pet Dude. Soon enough, everyone was standing in front of the jet again, and Ben had joined them again. Ava had already hugged Happy, and she turned to aunt May. The two embraced one another and May kissed the top of her head.
"Call me every morning. You got that?"
"Yeah. I will, I promise."
The two pulled away and May let Peter walk over. As soon as the twins were in arms reach, they pulled each other into a hug. Peter wrapped an arm tightly around his twin's waist while his other hand cradled the back of her head. Ava was in the same position and the two were struggling not to cry. This would be the first time that the two were ever apart. They did everything together. They even had all of their classes together.
"I'm going to miss you."
"I'm going to miss you too, Ava. Call me. I'll call you every day too. Okay?"
Ava nodded her head and the two pulled away. They wiped away the other's tears and smiled at each other. Peter leaned down and pressed a kiss to Ava's forehead. "See you soon, kid."
"You're only four minutes older."
Peter chuckled and with one last smile, he, May, and Happy boarded the jet. Ava watched with a sad smile and she waved until the jet was no longer in eyesight. The royal family looked at her and Belle stepped forward and put her hand on Ava's shoulder. "You okay, honey?"
"I'm okay, Belle. If it's all right with you, I'd just like to go to my place and rest. I can always explore tomorrow."
"Of course."
They all offered Ava smiles, and Ava smiled back. She then left and walked over to her house. Upon entering, she smiled. "Okay, O.R.I.O.N., you can talk now."
"Oh thank goodness. I was wanting to say something, but I didn't know if I should since the prince was with you. I've missed you, Ava."
Ava chuckled at her a.i.. "I've missed you too, buddy." Ava then made her way up to her room. Looking around, she knew that there was a lot of rooms inside her house, but she would explore them all later. What she needed to do was open Steve's gift. She wanted to open it for the past week, but she was never alone. So, she figured that she should open it now. Entering her room, she saw a box that wasn't there before, and she became curious. Shaking her head, she would open that next. Looking through her boxes and bags, she finally found the bag that Steve gave her, and she sat down in the seating area that was in her room. Ava hesitated before opening the bag. She saw a note sitting at the top, so she began to read it.
Ava wiped away the stray tear and set the note aside. Looking into the bag, she saw three small boxes and the jacket Steve had mentioned. Opening the first box, she saw that it was the bracelet from Wakanda, and she immediately slipped it on. The second box held the ring, and she put it on display next to her bed.
The third box held a key chain with Steve's shield and the keys to one of the motorcycles. Ava will have to figure it out later. The jacket was the last item. She shrugged off the jacket she was wearing and put on the new one. Ava sat there for a while, calming herself down. She then made her way over to her bed and opened the box. Like Steve's, there was a note on top.
Ava,
If you're reading this, then it means I have died. Then you have probably seen the video, too. I just wanted to say that I don't regret anything. You were the daughter I never had. And then I got one. I will always see you as my own. I'm sorry that things went down like this. I truly am. I left you and Peter some things, though. I know it won't make up for everything. The bracelet is something Morgan and I say to each other. I wanted to let you know that I love you, Ava. The glasses are special. Open them, and you'll see why.
~ T. S.
Ava set the note aside and forced herself not to cry. She saw two dresses and another note.
For when you have special occasions. Also, I left a motorcycle for you and some cars. Those are the keys.
~ T. S.
Ava smiled as she examined the dresses, and noticed that they were the same, except one was shorter than its twin. Opening one of the two boxes, she saw that it was the cuff bracelet. With teary eyes, she put the cuff on her other wrist and opened the last box. Sitting there was a pair of glasses. Ava examined them before putting them on. There was another note inside the box.
Peter has an exact same pair. For the next Tony Stark. I trust you.
P.s., say Edith.
~ T. S.
"Edith."
"Hello, Ava. I am E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark's augmented reality security in defense system. You and Peter have access to all of Tony's protocols."
"Oh, wow. So, what does E.D.I.T.H. stand for?"
"Even Dead, I'm The Hero."
And for the first time since the funeral, Ava broke down.
