Ryu: "Seele!"

With a sudden yell, Ryu shot up from his bed in a cold sweat, his eyes widened. His heavy panting filled the room briefly with his eyes slowly staring to relax. For some reason, he felt an extreme burn in his heart. It wasn't life threatening... rather, it felt like he was stabbed in his heart.

Bronya: "Ryu...?" He slowly looked up to his left, spotting Bronya from her top bunk, looking at him with her gray eyes displaying concern. "Are you okay..?"

Ryu: "I... I think so.. Um.." He paused, seeing a flash of an image of Seele smiling in his mind before his eyes widened. He immediately darted to the bunk bed below Bronya's only to find it completely empty. "Bronya... Where's Seele...?"

Bronya: "Huh...!?" She immediately hung herself upside down from her bed by her feet to look at the bottom bunk, but found it empty. "Seele...? Where did you go..? Ryu.. where did Seele go...?"

She looked at him. He could both see it and hear it.. she was afraid. Bronya's trembling and her shaky voice made it all clear; she was afraid of losing Seele, especially after she was kidnapped that once.

Ryu: "I..." He paused, before gritting his teeth and clutching onto his chest. "Let's search for her. Now."

>Chapter 4: The X-10 Experiment<

Bronya: "Seele? Where are you?" She called out.

After getting ready, both Bronya and Ryu decided to split up and search the entire Orphanage for their blue-haired friend. But unfortunately, neither had any luck. With a saddened sigh, Bronya looked forwards, seeing the black-haired boy approach her with his head lowered.

Bronya: "Any luck?"

Ryu: *shakes head* "No... There's no trace of her-Hmm..?" He cut himself off as he spotted a specific letter on the floor between the two. He leaned down and picked it up as Bronya went over to his side. His eyes then widen and he began to sweat a bit. "A letter about the X-10 Experiment...?"

Upon hearing the name, Bronya's eyes had widened. But her shock was rivaled by Ryu's. He had thought of a possibility of where Seele could have gone, but didn't want to believe it. While gritting his teeth, he crushed the letter in his hand and took Bronya's hand.

Ryu: "C'mon. Let's keep searching."

Bronya: "R-Right.." As the two walked together, searching for the one they held so dearly, they both began to recall a particular moment.

Both Ryu and Bronya stood before Cocolia in her office. The blonde woman had called them to her office to inform them about the X-10 Experiment and left the two surprised. She had told them that Seele was a perfect candidate for the test due to her unique genetics. However, considering all previous attempts of the test failed, she didn't want to risk Seele taking it. Cocolia didn't want to force either of the two children before her to take this test. However, much to both her and Bronya's surprise, Ryu stepped up, his expression displaying zero hesitation.

Ryu: "I'll take the test then, Matushka."

Bronya: "Ryu!?"

Cocolia: "Listen closely, Ryu. If the X-10 test succeeds, you will be able to manipulate matter at a sub-atomic level. But we've already lost 7 candidates in previous attempts... Don't be too hasty, Ryu. The risk is real. You should feel afraid."

Ryu: "I understand that... But if the success of this experiment means an easier chance for Seele and Bronya when they take the test, then I'm willing to take that risk." He stared at the blonde woman, his eyes burning with determination. Cocolia hesitated to say anything, but she knew that he was serious. With a deep sigh to prepare herself, she slowly nodded.

Cocolia: "Alright then."

Bronya: "Ryu, no!" She grabbed him by the arms and turned him to face her.

Ryu: "Sorry Bronya.. but I can't back down from this."

Bronya: "B-But if it fails, you'll.. you'll...!" It was the first time Ryu saw how Bronya stutter on her words, as if she was desperately trying to hold back any sobs. He could see her lips trembling and her gray eyes glistening from tears threatening to show themselves, he slowly took her hands an squeezed them gently.

Ryu: "I know... but if it means you and Seele have a better chance of surviving in this Honkai infested world, then I'll take the chance. I know you would have done the same if I weren't here..." She said nothing, with her lowering her head. However, the black haired male slowly grasped her chin and turned her head to face him. "Hey, don't be sad. Even if it fails, I won't go down so easily. I'll find my way back to you. But even then... If j ever do... take care of Seele for me.. okay?"

The short girl looked up at him, her eyes glistening. Ryu became surprised to see tears streaming down Bronya's face as he had never seen her cry before. He's seen her get sad, happy and even angry to some extent, but never have she cried before him. But she slowly nodded her head, with her lips trembling as she opened her mouth to speak.

Bronya: *tearful* "O-Okay..."

Seeing her tears pained him internally. He felt a string tug on his heart. He couldn't help himself and hugged her with small tears in his eyes. Bronya froze in surprise but didn't hesitate to hug him back, tightly.

Remembering that memory brought a tear to the present day Ryu's eye but he quickly wiped it away and focused on finding Seele with Bronya. Their search got more and more frantic, to the point that they were speed walking towards Cocolia's office as they recalled another memory.

Underneath a star-filled night sky, Seele, Bronya and Ryu sat on a soft patch of grass. The black-haired male sat between the two girls, with Seele resting her head on his shoulder.

Seele: "I'm really excited for the beach tour next week, but I don't even know how to swim."

Ryu: "Oh I completely forgot that you couldn't swim haha. I guess I'm gonna have to teach little adorable Seele how to swim now, huh?" He stated with a teasing laugh that caused the blue haired girl to blush a bit and stutter before giggling slightly.

Seele:" S-Stop you're embarrassing me..!"

Ryu: "Haha. How about you, Bronya? You know how to swim?" he looked towards the quiet girl, who was staring at the sky before looking at them.

Bronya: "Da. Bronya was in special forces. I held my breath for 4 minutes 35 seconds in convert underwater sabotage traning."

Ryu: "Oh? Impressive."

Seele: "That sounds great! You can help Ryu teach me then!" She exclaimed excitedly, causing both Bronya and Ryu to exchange looks before laughing slightly and smiling.

Bronya: "Da."

Busting through the door to Cocolia's office, Bronya yelled out in a desperate tone.

Bronya: "Matushka! Seele has gone missing...!"

However, her eyes widened in terror as she had just realized, the room was completely empty. Ryu joined her soon after and had the same reaction. Everything was shrouded in a dead and unsettling silence, the only sound coming from the clock, which was ticking..

Ryu: "Cocolia...?"

Okhotsk-Russia...

Seele: "Matushka, what is this place?"

Standing on a beach, with a small hermit crab walking past them, was Seele and Matushka, looking out into the Sunrise. The scenery was majestic, with the calm waters lightly washing up onto the beach and with the clouds parted in such a manner that the rising sun was perfectly visible to them.

Cocolia: "This is the Sea of Okhotsk, The X-10 Labs were built under this very sea. The sea would contain Honkai spills and hid us from Schickal forces." She then looked at the young girl. "Time to go, Seele."

There wasn't a very noticeable response from the girl besides quiet mumbles that seemed in awe, but at the same time sounded like she was ready to start crying.

Seele: "This is the beach that Seele, Bronya and Ryu wanted to visit together. I've never seen these Azure Waters before."

A brief vision flashed in her mind. Wearing their swimsuits, Bronya, Ryu and Seele ran along the sand, with the water brushing against their feet, happy smiles on their faces. But... it wasn't a memory... it was just a dream... Seele's eyes became stained with tears just from that vision. It was all she wanted.

Cocolia: "Are you alright, Seele?" She asked, not looking at the young girl who silently, wiped her tears away as the vision disintegrated into nothing.

Seele: "It's alright. Let's go."

X-10 Labs...
Under the Sea of Okhotsk...

With some orange tubes attached to her back and in a tight experimental bodysuit, Seele floated within a test tube with her eyes closed as the experiment was taking place. In front of it however was a much larger ball of liquid metal.

Scientist 1: "All Readings Nominal."

Scientist 2: "We're making smooth process."

Scientist 3: "Her Honkai resistance is extremely high. Things are looking good."

Scientist 4: "Subject can now use Honkai Energy to manipulate matter at the atomic level. We can try injecting more Honkai Energy now. Perhaps we can achieve manipulation of matter at Sub-Atomic levels."

With her gritting her teeth slightly, more in worry than anything, Cocolia gave the order.

Cocolia: "Inject another 3 ML."

It was hot. As she felt the Honkai Energy pouring into her body, Seele could feel it. It burned like hot magma resting at the base of a volcano. But she had to be thankful for her abnormally high resistance, because if she never was this resistant, the pan would have been much greater.

Seele's thoughts: "I'm so hot... This hurts so much.. I think my body is burning up... Something is flowing into me... It's... It's turning me into something else..."

Her mind slowly began to go blank and she found founder herself in a white room with a slight gradient on the sky that made it seem slightly golden. However, before her she could spot them, the two people that she held dearly.

Seele: "Ryu... Bronya..." Bronya and Ryu had their backs turned to her and were approaching what seemed like a chest, the same that was in their room. Slowly he reached out to them. "Ryu! Bronya! It's me, Seele! I'm over here! Why are you ignoring me..? RYU! BRONYA!"

She watched as they opened the chest and stepped into it before closing it shut. She ran towards it, her hands trembling as she was trying to open it.

Seele: "Ryu... Bronya..." However a shadow hand grasped onto hers and stopped her.

???: "𝕊𝕋𝕆ℙ! 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟'𝕥 𝕘𝕠 𝕒𝕟𝕪 𝕗𝕦𝕣𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕤 𝕥𝕠 𝕔𝕠𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕟𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕤𝕥. 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕪𝕖𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕊𝕥𝕚𝕘𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕒."

"Alert! Honkai Reaction spike detected! Subject is going Critical!"

Outside, spikes suddenly erupted from the Liquid Metal ball as the alarms were blaring in the laboratory and Cocolia's face warped more and more into a worried expression.

Cocolia: "Seele..."

Seele's Mindscape...

Much to her surprise, Seele found herself sitting in front of... herself. A shadow of herself. The only difference was the red hue along her body, the fact that her skin was a dark navy blue and her eyes weren't visible. They were completely covered by the shadow of her hair.

'Seele': "𝕀 𝕕𝕚𝕕𝕟'𝕥 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕖𝕖𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕝𝕚𝕜𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤, 𝕞𝕪 𝕕𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕥."

Seele: "You... You're the voice that speaks to me inside my head..."

'Seele': "𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕖𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕕 𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕊𝕥𝕚𝕘𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕒 𝕖𝕠𝕟𝕤 𝕒𝕘𝕠 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕕𝕖 𝕞𝕖... Seele: "But... Bronya and Ryu are inside the box! I must open it to save them!"

'Seele': "𝕊𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝔹𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕪𝕒 𝕒𝕟𝕕 ℝ𝕪𝕦 𝕀 𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕥𝕠𝕝𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕕𝕚𝕖 𝕚𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕠𝕡𝕖𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕓𝕠𝕩." She said, in a tone that sounded a bit dumbfounded.

Seele: "But..."

'Seele': "𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕡 𝕓𝕖𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕤𝕥𝕦𝕡𝕚𝕕. 𝕀 𝕟𝕖𝕖𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕜𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕖𝕩𝕚𝕤𝕥." She said.

Suddenly, Seele yelped as she was pushed down and pinned to the floor. Now, it was by Sin, but her skin was the same dark navy blue and her eyes weren't visible.

'Sin': "𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕤𝕠 𝕦𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕖𝕒𝕜. 𝔸𝕟𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦'𝕣𝕖 𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕒 𝕔𝕣𝕪 𝕓𝕒𝕓𝕪. 𝔽𝕠𝕣𝕘𝕖𝕥 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝔼𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥! 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖'𝕤 𝕟𝕠 𝕨𝕒𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕤𝕦𝕔𝕔𝕖𝕖𝕕 𝕚𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦'𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕤𝕦𝕓𝕛𝕖𝕔𝕥."

Seele: "Sin!?"

Normally, Seele would feel hurt by her words and break down in tears. However for some reason, she felt a burning rage inside of her as she grabbed the fake Sin by her shoulders and threw her off of her, her normally calm and beautiful blue eyes now glaring at her, with pure rage building up inside of her.

Seele: "I'm... I'm NOT scared of you, Sin!" In response, the fake Sin released a light 'Heh'.

'Cocolia': "𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝔼𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥 𝕞𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝕜𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕪𝕠𝕦, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕀𝕥'𝕤 𝕥𝕠𝕠 𝕕𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕖𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕤. 𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕦𝕤𝕙𝕜𝕒 𝕕𝕠𝕖𝕤𝕟'𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦. 𝕁𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕝𝕜 𝕒𝕨𝕒𝕪." Now said a shadow of Cocolia, who stood before Seele. Her eyes had widened but she looked down, a hand grasping onto her chest.

Seele: "Matushka Cocolia... Sorry, Matushka. I've made up my mind." The shadow of Cocolia walked up to her with a proud smile and patted her head, like how an actual mother would.

'Cocolia': "𝔾𝕠𝕠𝕕. 𝕐𝕠𝕦'𝕧𝕖 𝕘𝕣𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕦𝕡, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖."

But then, she warped and changed, somehow splitting into two figures that would do doubt, shake Seele to the very core. Now, shadows of Ryu and Bronya stood before her, bringing her into a tight and warm hug.

'Bronya': "𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖!"

'Ryu': "ℍ𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕟𝕠 𝕗𝕖𝕒𝕣, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕎𝕖'𝕝𝕝 𝕒𝕝𝕨𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕓𝕖 𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕪𝕠𝕦. 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕕𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕕𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤. 𝔹𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖𝕤, 𝕀 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕀 𝕨𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕒𝕝𝕨𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕟𝕠 𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥. 𝕀'𝕞 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕕𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥. ℕ𝕠𝕥 𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣."

'Bronya': "𝕀'𝕝𝕝.. 𝕎𝕖'𝕝𝕝 𝕒𝕝𝕨𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕊𝕥𝕒𝕪. 𝔻𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕦𝕤 𝕓𝕖𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕨𝕒𝕪 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕦𝕤."

It was enough. Seele felt herself breaking down, multiple streams of tears flowing down her face.

Seele: "Ryu... Bronya..." There were a few quiet sobs from the blue-haired girl as she remained still, her head buried between their shoulders. After a single droplet fell to the ground, making a splashing noise, she stopped. She smiled brightly and looked up at them, while locking her fingers with theirs. "Ryu... Bronya... If I fail this test... they will make you two take it as well... You'll always hold me like this when I hide myself in our toy box. And you make me feel save when you tell me that it's all right, but... I won't run away this time. This time, I won't let my weakness hurt either of you."

The two shadows stared at her, their mouths slightly agape. However, they slowly smiled, genuinely. The two remerged together, forming back to the Shadow Seele who stood up with her counterpart.

'Seele': "𝕐𝕠𝕦'𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕘𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕘𝕚𝕣𝕝, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕖. 𝕀 𝕨𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕡 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕟𝕪𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖. ℍ𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕚𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕪, 𝕞𝕪 𝕕𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕥. 𝔹𝕦𝕥 𝕀'𝕞 𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕪𝕠𝕦, 𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕟 𝕀 𝕕𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕒𝕙𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕠𝕗 𝕦𝕤. 𝔹𝕦𝕥..." She slowly took Seele's hand and rose it along with her own. "𝕀'𝕝𝕝 𝕓𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕪𝕠𝕦... 𝕟𝕠 𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕡𝕖𝕟𝕤. 𝕎𝕖'𝕣𝕖 𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕 𝕥𝕠𝕘𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕒𝕤 𝕊𝕥𝕚𝕘𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕒 𝕒𝕟𝕕 ℍ𝕠𝕤𝕥."

Together, Seele and Stigmata Seele both placed their hands on the toy box and slowly opened it, immediately becoming engulfed by a heavenly golden light along with the outlines of smiles from both Bronya and Ryu.

"𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔣𝔦𝔫𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔶 𝔣𝔬𝔲𝔫𝔡 𝔦𝔱, 𝔖𝔢𝔢𝔩𝔢."

As Seele opened her eyes, the entire lab erupted into cheers of victory and happiness from their long-awaited success. Looking at her hands while feeling the energy within her, Seele grew a happy smile. She had finally done it... She accomplished something that would help the two she loved dearly.
