Later than Late

She felt a soft brushing against her nose, making her hum in her sleep and gently swatting it away. A female voice giggled melodiously and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Was she hearing things?

She opened her eyes slowly and she saw a pair of blue eyes stare back at her and blink. The female hovering above her had long and messy blonde hair, making it frame the sides of her face. "You okay?" She asked.

"GYAAAAA!!!" Teddy screamed at her face then rolled off the bed, flipping it over and hiding behind it.

The girl giggled again. "You're kinda funny!" She commented.

"OH YEAH?" Teddy huffed angrily and poked her head out to glare at the girl. "Well... Well..." She paused, trying to think of a good insult, until her eyes trained downwards to her feet. They weren't touching the ground. Her feet weren't touching... the.. ground.

"MOTHER OF PENIS! YOU'RE FLOATING!!" She screamed in shock and hid behind the bed again. The girl stared with an amused smile on her lips as she watched Teddy's hands slowly come out from behind the bed to form a cross with her fingers. "BE GONE, SATAN!!!"

This caused the girl to burst out laughing in hysterics while Teddy repeatedly called her a 'demonic spawn that watches people sleep'. She heard a heavy sigh, followed by footsteps coming toward her. A tanned man with stormy grey eyes peered over the bed and stared at her with a straight face.

"You couldn't have waited until after you got into your room before falling asleep, Theodora-ya?" He asked, though it was rhetorical, she gave him a sheepish grin and lowered her hands.

"I got tired." She honestly answered him.

"So you slept on the floor?" Law smirked and shook his head. "My name is Trafalgar Law. This laughing hyena here is Donquixote Araina." He nodded pointedly to the girl beside him, who was still clutching her stomach and laughing. Her eyes scanned him over and noticed his pierced ears and tattooed hands; while she observed that the girl named Araina had a long pink tail.

"Oh, well, I'm Kumagai--"

"I already know who you are." He interrupted, shoving his hands in his pockets, and chuckled. "Theodora-ya, you are quite an interesting woman. I hope we meet again soon." He grabbed Araina by the back of her uniform blouse and dragged her away.

"Riiiiight," She eyed them warily as they left the room. "Wait, how did I get in here?!" She gasped and looked around her, noticing that she was already inside a dorm room. Her bag was sitting next to the closet beside the flipped over bed, she tilted her head in confusion. "Did they bring me here?" She asked herself, then shrugged it off.

-later that same day-

Teddy decided to go out and explore the campus, since she had the entire day free. After she unpacked her things and took a quick shower, she left her dorm then headed downstairs to find the cafeteria. Her stomach was growling loudly. "How long was I asleep for?" She wondered aloud.

As she allowed her mind to wander, she began to walk aimlessly along the hallways silently. Teachers were discussing, but she couldn't hear anything from behind the glass walls. "Must be soundproof..." She concluded.

From one of the classrooms, a girl with long, straight, brown hair was looking out. Her blue eyes caught a glimpse of flowing sea green hair turning a corner before disappearing. "What was that?" She mumbled and stared inquisitively. Deciding not to mind what she saw, she continued to listen to the teacher drone on about the school rules.

Again, sea green hair caught her eye. She looked over and stared at the student walking around with a confused frown. She hummed in thought, before raising her hand and speaking up, "Mister Shanks? I think that student is lost."

Everyone quickly turned in their seats to see Teddy walking through the halls. She was holding a map, but couldn't seem to read it very well as she kept sighing to herself and looking around with a puzzled expression.

"Guess you're right," Shanks smiled sympathetically, then walked to the door and opened it. "Hey, shouldn't you be in class?" He called out.

Teddy yelped in surprise and shot her arms up like she was surrendering. "DON'T SHOOT! I'M JUST LOOKING FOR THE FOOD!!"

Everyone started laughing at her random outburst. Shanks could see her face turn a faint shade of pink. He couldn't help but grin, she was stranger than most of his students. "You can eat later. Right now, you should be in class." He informed her.

The girl timidly walked over to him, glancing at his class every five seconds and hiding the darkening of her already red cheeks from embarrassment. "Um, I was told that I could take the day off to look around the school?" She said shyly, not looking at him.

Shanks tilted his head and raised an eyebrow, "Oh? So you must be a new student. Theodora, right? I'm Shanks, one of the teachers here!" She nodded then looked up to see him grin. He had three scars over his left eye, but he didn't seem all that scary. Shanks placed a hand on her head and petted her gently, it was strangely...comforting. Her eyes slowly slid shut as she began to purr like a cat.

"Well, as adorable as that is," Shanks laughed and took something out of his pocket, giving it to her. Teddy opened her eyes and looked at it. It was a black card with a skull printed on it. She gave him a questioning look.

"It's Tuesday today, sweetheart. I'm afraid you're already half a day late for class." He said with a carefree smile.

Teddy's jaw dropped, "WHAT?!"
