The Plan to Predator Island
"Tuftyfur! Can't you see it? It is the perfect sleeping spot! Let's race there!" I yell excitedly, completely forgetting how there were hundreds of annoying flies buzzing around. Tuftyfur didn't look convinced. "I...don't know. They say that Predator Island is haunted..." He mumbled, fear clearly shown in his eyes.
"So? I'm not afraid of ghosts or anything. Plus, it's nap time! I need my nap!" I shouted back.
"I don't mean that kind of haunted..." He started, but I was already charging into the water.
"Wait! What about the lake?! You'll have to swim a long distance!" He shouted. I didn't listen. It was just me and the lake.
The water felt cool and refreshing as it splashed over my sizzling body. I felt my body tingle with delight, overjoyed that I had escaped the beating sunshine. Splashing behind me stopped me in my tracks. I twisted my neck and my eyes caught sight of Tuftyfur, as lazy as ever. "Oh? Have you decided to come with me?" I retorted in a mocking tone.
"No. Not ever. This water does feel good though, even though it feels weird." he replied calmly. He shook his head like a wild dog. Droplets of water sprinkled on to me, wetting my dry back. Fury bubbled up inside me.
"Why not!? Are you afraid of ghosts? That's just plain stupid! I thought you were better than that! You disappoint me, Tuftyfur."
"Are you going to force me to do something I don't want to do for your own benefit? That's just plain selfish."
"How dare you call me selfish after all the things I did for you! You're the one who's selfish!"
I don't even want to look at him. He's disgusting. I marched deeper into water, my hooves stumbling as I ungracefully tried to walk across the lake bed. Good thing the lake isn't very big, I don't know if I could keep this up if the lake was any larger. The sun intensified, dazzling me. I squinted into the distance. I was close to the island. Shade and fresh grass was waiting for me. I drew on, getting closer to the island that was considered 'haunted'.
The sand felt cool under my hooves. A pungent salt smell filled my nose with disgust. The leafy trees provided shade, immediately my back relaxed, as if it sighed, long and weary. The perfect sleeping spot was waiting. I just hope it doesn't smell as bad as this. With my nose wrinkled, I headed towards the center of the island. A strong gust blew, howling furiously in my ear. I shivered slightly. Could this be... I shook off such thoughts. I flopped onto the soft moss, my head raised at the sky. The few clouds drifted slowly in the heat, a welcoming breeze pushing them every now and then. Sunlight flickered past the cool presence of the shade. This is the perfect life I should have in the summer.
I woke up feeling rested and cool. I half opened a sleepy eye, not focusing on anything. Water sprinkled on my fur, refreshing and comforting. Wonderful, I thought. The clouds finally decide to give us rain. How wonderful for the others. I raised my head, shaking myself awake to see the blessing of the rain. To see dark clouds above, heavy droplets of rain thundering down, or to see puffy white ones, sprinkling water droplets gently onto the ground. Either one was good. I looked up again. No clouds were seen, white or black. I only saw the endless blue and the blinding white of the sun. It wasn't raining. Confusion swarmed inside me. What's happening? If it's not raining, where did the water come from? The sounds of waves breaking answered me. I looked down, and water was all around me.
