The Grass on the Other Side is Always Greener
It was hot. Very hot. As I swung my whip-like tail, I decided to do something about it. Something, I thought. I have to do something. But what? I rolled on the tough yellow grass, the sun beating down on me like a wild woodpeckers jabbing me with their sharp beaks. Flies swarmed around me, buzzing annoyingly in my ear. There is gotta be some kind way to escape the heat. I swung my head around, my eyes scanning for some kind of solution. A shady island attracted my attention. I swished my tail hard in the heat, but it only made a fly disappear in my mouth. "Argg!" I snorted, as I spat it out. Some of the females saw and laughed, a sound of snakes spitting escaped from their mouths. I snorted and turned towards my friend, Tuftyfur, who was laying lazily on the summer grass. He looked at me with earnest brown eyes. "What do you want with me now?" Tuftyfur grunted, annoyed. I screw up my face. "I'm too hot."
"So? Everyone is too hot. There is nothing we can do about it, unless you suddenly gained powers to control the weather." He mumbled, moving himself into a more comfortable position. I snorted. "Yes there is!" I cry, frustrated.
"Oh? Have you suddenly gained the powers to change the weather?" He torted, an amused expression on his face.
"That's not what I mean! Why can't we just swim to that island? It's shady enough to cool us down." I shook my head wildly at the small island. Tuftyfur leapt up, fear clearly shown in his eyes. "What!? You're saying we should swim to Predator Island!?"
"Yeah. Why not? It's got shade, grass, and it's not a long swim." I peered at it closer. That's when I saw it. The perfect sleeping spot. A flat, moss covered rock, covered by a cloak of shade, and dappled with flecks of sunlight.
