Kace
The sound of static enters mind as my eyes open. They reveal a dense fog in a darkened space, while my nose perceives, a horrid stench. And a warm, thick liquid drips on my neck; runs along my back, as the deep growl becomes louder. It did not take much for me to notice I was in danger, with a realistic possibility that I'm already dead. I force one hand up while the other down and wrench my body outward and retaliate with a heavy punch.
(Rawr!)
A gray shaggy beast with gigantic jaws screams in pain as it reverts to a man, naked with pale skin. Clenching his teeth, he places a hand over his eye as blood flows through the fingers. And with a loud growl, the man returns into the form of a beast standing over 7 feet with metallic claws and reddish-green eyes. He leaps towards me in a rage with his claws aiming at my neck, and with a swift turn, I dart into the unknown.
"Dammit... What the hell is going on!" I yelled, picking up the pace, running through a darkened forest, unsure of my steps. But I am certain I'm alive, sensing my pounding heartbeat and my frantic inhalations that pull in the frigid air. Up to now, I don't know where I'm going, neither can recall who I am. A slew of tiny circular lights of multiple colors, then dance around my head like fireflies and diverts to the right. I follow without thought, jumping over rocks - sliding under fallen trees and over a slight hill until I approach a cliff.
At that place, an array of colorful rings appears in the sky, with three moons that resemble a Tomoye. And on the outskirts of the mountains lie a land that burns with red and black flames, suffusing the sky with smoke. And a great circular object hovers shrouded in the fumes - with a sign that illuminates stating 'Megalopolis City of Omnipotence.'
"Look out behind you!" A voice hails my attention, and as I turn, the beast approaches with its mouth open. And a golden spear surges through its head, with a momentum that drives the creature into the ground. It did not revert to a man however, the creature's eyes pairs into mine with sheer hate.
"My Clan will surely find you and avenge me!" Words it spoke with its last breath.
"Are you mad, just standing there waiting to be eaten?" A man shows up from the darkness behind a purple tree with golden leaves illuminated by the moonlight.
"Uh, ugh. I didn't notice, the landscape and that, what is that! And where am I?" I reply pointing to the floating object that hovers over the burning lands, where the sign illuminates with concerned eyes toward the man. He scratches his jaw and grunts for a while. Then walk toward me, snatches the spear replying. "Follow me, let us walk and talk." And I follow him with no hesitation, observing his demeanor - clothe in all-black leather.
His rusty looking arm with green gears and large protruding-silverish screws clinkers with every step. I gaze on his broad back, noticing the metallic stripe that leads from his shoulders to his hips, as he turns to face me. He lights a cigar and gazes into the sky, where a red sign appears that drips like blood stating:
"Let The Games Begin!"
"What's going on?" I asked with a tone filled with anxiety, as I'm already worrying about my situation, as another eerie sight comes into play.
"Well, for one this is nothing, but a game created by the one known as Administrator. Well, you'll find out the details soon enough. Say, my name is Jack, what's your's kiddo?" The man replies exhaling a puff of smoke.
And the term 'kiddo' replays in my mind. While a disgruntled whisper comes from my mouth... "I'm grown." Then pauses as I glimpse my body and notice my slender figure, gauging my height by using him as a comparison. Something feels off, but I can't place my finger on it however, I reply, "not sure where I am, or what my name is. Do you have any idea?"
"Just follow me. You have nothing to worry about. Oh, what about these name, James, Matt, or Nathaniel? Choose one of your likings until we can find who you are. Sounds like a plan?" Jack suggests pointing his finger to the sky while he thinks, turns to me with a smile, then gestures to follow as he proceeds down the hill.
We approach a smokey town with oddly shaped brick buildings and revolving gears floating in the sky. And massive metal pipes run along the ground, into and through the buildings. That meets in a cumbersome infrastructure of gears and sculptured designs as creatures, in the town's center. The pipes spit smoke into the air and the gears that float above transforms into an opal shape and color, as various beings fall from them unto the ground.
They immediately attack each other with weapons and even bare hands, and as I stand there in shock, the man shoves me with the words:
"Those who work will get a place to sleep and food to eat. Anything that shines or drops from the players here is worth something. Go get those shiny little things, and I'll personally take care of you. Sounds like a good plan, right? Go ahead now, this is the world you're now in, you need people like me to take care of you until you're ready."
The situation feels odd at first, but his smile and a tap on my shoulders give me some reassurance. Not once did he say to kill or to fight, but the fact that someone just cut another person in half gives me the chills. I continue onwards, and another jump from a window with a serrated sword and before he attacks another, a green light shoots through his chest. A human turns into a creature with elongated fangs and pointy ears, while another becomes a full android without a face. It shoots beams of yellow through its targets while I scurry along the ground covered in the blood from multiple species screaming 'What the hell am I doing!' in my mind.
The small lights appear before me again, leading me into a building on my far left. There I come upon a bright green gem shining through the rubble of rocks. "Die you stupid ass robot!" A beast scream outside of the walls and I duck instantly to hide. The fighting continues with loud explosions and a heavy quake hits the building as debris falls from the cracked ceiling. I shove my hand into the rumble to grab the gem, thinking 'I need to hurry and leave!' and a transparent sign appears and the noise ceases.
(Color Consciousness: 'One who embeds me into their soul, will forever walk through the realms of Eywa. But that person will die forgetting themselves and born anew. The probability to live One In Three Million. Accept or Decline.')
My mind becomes blank, and the next thing I remembered was the phrase- "Processing Compatibility" as a toll rings the fighting ceases and I returned with a handful of trinkets. Jack caresses my head, then carries me on his back to a settlement where I fell asleep.
When I come to, I woke up on a bunker bed in a room with other children. One lies on the ground crying while mumbling "I'm hungry, mommy" and the others sleep soundly. I slide out of the bed and exit the room into the encampment of large tents and torches for light. A loud yelp comes to my attention from behind the tent I was sleeping. And a static sound rushes through my head again.
"Remember who you are!" a feminine voice speaks, and the images of a desk come into mind with a nameplate that states, 'Administrator.'
With a deep breath and a shake of my head, I continue tracking the sounds that lead to a large tent in the center. With a soft pull, I separate the bands that hold the flaps together and my eyes shake in immediate terror. Within stands two creatures. Both with pointy tails and pitch-black bodies with scales. And at their oblique heads without ears, two purple horns as they stretch their bodies over two children - one boy and the other, a girl. Their mouth opens without a hinge and as their tongue rolls out, I gasp subconsciously.
One turns to face me with its bright red eyes and approaches my body before I could blink. Its enormous hands grab me by the head as the static noise occurs again with the word 'Kace'.
"Seems like we have another one to feast on tonight!" It proclaims with a familiar voice, that matches the rusty arm with bolts and screws.
