Eight
Yoongi felt so useless.
He couldn't even greet his brother, who had been touring Universities and only comes home on the weekends. It turns out that his heat lasted nearly a week, and it was proven to be an effect from the medicine. His dad had tested it, making sure. But he wasn't going to let Yoongi continue being a lab rat.
As shitty as it was, Yoongi gave up. He knew that it was risky from the beginning, but they all thought that the pill would work. They had tested it on the animals that have a rut. They had made sure it was okay. But then again, they don't know how a heat feels in an animal, so they couldn't tell whether the animals were having problems in that area.
Other than that, it worked.
But now Yoongi's heat is over. And instantly, he could sense everything again. As he got ready for his first day back to school, he sighed. He knew what was coming. And he also knew that everyone would talk more.
So yeah, as soon as he stepped on campus, people's eyes widened and people pointed, clearly talking about Yoongi to their friends. And class wouldn't start for another thirty minutes. Yoongi sighed to himself, instantly going to his first class. He brought a tangerine with him for breakfast and to have something to fiddle with out of anxiousness.
He sat down next to Seokjin, who instantly perked up and looked at Yoongi.
"You.." He pouted his lips out as he smelled for Yoongi's scent. "You were an Omega this whole time?" He laughed to himself. "Hoseok thought you were an Alpha. Little shit made me believe him." He shook his head.
Yoongi smiled weakly. "People are talking about me." He stated. Jin frowned at him, holding out one of his two muffins.
"Eat well, then." He said. "You'll need lots of energy if that's the case. Don't let them get to you, okay?" He smiled reassuringly.
Yoongi took the muffin and swapped with Jin, offering him a tangerine. "You need breakfast too." He said. Seokjin shrugged, taking the tangerine happily, smiling as Hoseok walked through the door. "Seokie!"
Hoseok pouted. "People are talking so much about you." He told Yoongi. "It's odd."
Yeah. Yoongi is an Omega.
The school knows now.
Yoongi sighed as he put a slice of tangerine in his mouth. Class starts in ten minutes. It's already been such a long, bad day.
"Oh?" Someone walked into the classroom, a big voice that grabbed Yoongi's attention. Yoongi bit harder into his fruit as Suk-Yeong came into his view. He felt absolutely nothing when he looked at him. Shocker. "I see we have an Omega on our hands." He said.
Suk-Yeong walked towards Yoongi, leaning over his desk. Already, Yoongi hates it. He senses it all now. Knows the Alpha is too close for anyone's liking right now.
"Leave him alone." Jin said, standing up to try and block Yoongi from him. Suk-Yeong merely glared at the Beta. And Yoongi suddenly felt guilty, yet protected by his friend.
"Sit your ass down." Suk-Yeong put his hand on Yoongi's desk, glaring into Jin's eyes. Seokjin obeyed hesitantly, momentarily. "So," Suk-Yeong leaned closer to Yoongi's face, the most uncomfortable thing he could have possibly done. "Omega, huh?" He placed his hand on Yoongi's thigh.
Yoongi immediately stopped his hand from moving in any closer, which it was most definitely doing. "S-Stop." He tugged, trying to pull the Alpha's hand off of him. But Suk-Yeong moved his hand into his inner thigh.
Suddenly Seokjin hit the Alpha from behind, hitting his shoulder in an attempt to do something. "Leave him alone, asshole!"
"Leave him alone." A Beta girl from across the room also spoke up, but this only made the Alpha growl out of annoyance.
"I'll leave him alone when he tells me to." Suk-Yeong said. Yoongi should've known that this guy wasn't good. God, maybe the medicine is a curse and a blessing deal.
Jin huffed. "He did say to stop."
The Alpha smirked, leaning in his mouth to barely press against Yoongi's ear. "Yeah, but I like to make my Omega beg to me." He moved his hand so close to Yoongi's crotch, making the Omega whine. Useless.
And then Jungkook came in.
Instantly, Yoongi felt it. He looked up into Jungkook's glaring eyes. He was looking back and forth from Yoongi to Suk-Yeong, who was so obviously making Yoongi shake with fear. Suk-Yeong didn't sense Jungkook like Yoongi did, but Yoongi could feel how outraged Jungkook was as he looked down at the other Alpha's hand on Yoongi.
It felt weird.
Yoongi felt weird.
"Suk-Yeong." Jungkook said sternly, spitting angrily. The whole room including said Alpha looked up at Jungkook in fear and silence. Jungkook took a few steps up to the Alpha and without hesitation he twisted Suk-Yeong's free wrist, making the Alpha cry out at the pain he most definitely feels right now. "Get your sick fucking hands off of him." He said. "Or I will fucking beat your head into the floor right here in front of everyone, you sick fucker."
The room stayed silent.
The Alpha slowly removed his hand from Yoongi's thigh, Yoongi instantly relaxing as he backed away, Jungkook making sure he did so.
He watched as Jungkook stared down Suk-Yeong, still furious. And Yoongi could feel it. He could feel the anger coming from deep inside of himself. He could emotionally feel what Jungkook was feeling. And the sudden knowing look in his eyes when Jungkook first walked into the classroom.
That feeling.
That connection.
Yoongi knows. He knows instantly what that means. And it scares him.
"What the hell is wrong in here?" A girl's voice brought Yoongi out of his thoughts. He looked up, seeing Yuri staring down at him. "Smells like a shit show in here. The fuck did you do?" She furrowed her eyebrows at Yoongi.
Yoongi didn't answer, but immediately stood from his desk and left the classroom. After such a terrible week, he's not strong enough for all of this shit. He made his way to wherever, somehow finding his way back to the same picnic table he met Jimin at. When he got there, he sat down in Jungkook's seat, realizing that his scent was there.
And oh, God. Yoongi hadn't even realized how fucking good Jungkook smelled until now. He pressed his forehead into his arms, laying his head down to calm himself, smelling the Alpha's scent. This seat feels so calm, so warm, like nothing can hurt him here.
So... Jungkook is his soulmate.
Yoongi shuddered to himself. Is that why he kept sitting in Jungkook's seats? Could his body still sense Jungkook? God, he wishes he didn't even have the medication then. Jungkook's scent is like a rain forest, like a nice rainy day. Like something cozy. Yoongi absolutely loves rain. And he loves Jungkook's fucking scent so much. He could sit here for days and just melt into the table.
He sat there for a good few minutes, just taking in the scent. And somehow he could feel something deep within him. It feels so weird, being able to feel his mate's emotions.
Confusion. Fear?
Why fear?
Yoongi lifted up from the table, not liking that his soulmate felt fear. Why would he? And then suddenly Jungkook's scent got much stronger, the fear Yoongi felt easing away.
"Yoongi." Jungkook's voice. He was standing behind Yoongi. That's where the side entrance to the school was. And Yoongi's whole body felt so fucking weird, so light. It scared him so much. Why is Jungkook his soulmate? And how the fuck did he get so lucky to find him, yet so unlucky to have as well?
Jungkook has a girlfriend.
Yoongi's heart sank in his chest. That's right. Jungkook has that demon Omega. It hurts his heart to even think about.
"Oh, God." Jungkook sounded disturbed, as if suddenly feeling it as well. Yoongi cursed to himself, hoping it was a coincidence. But Jungkook sat down next to him and Yoongi had to scoot over to get away. "Yoongi.."
"No." Yoongi mumbled as he forced his face back into his arms, laying down on the table to ignore Jungkook. "Why are you here?"
There was a moment of silence before Jungkook sighed. "I knew there was something wrong with me when we first met." He muttered lowly, quietly. Yoongi clenched his fists, his heart just hurting even more. "Why does my heart hurt?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi felt a pang in his chest, his own heart slowly dying at the thought of being rejected by Jungkook, by his soulmate. He's heard that it's a deadly thing, being rejected. Been told that it can lead to so many bad things. And now, as he sits next to his soulmate, he can tell why.
"Because mine does." He said.
And then he felt it again, this time their soulmate connection linking, both of their hearts shattering together.
"Yoongi." Jungkook's voice was all it was. Just a voice. If Yoongi didn't look at him, he would be okay. The curse would break. Jungkook can be happy with his girlfriend and Yoongi will... He'll be okay. "Yoongi, please look at me. I know you're trying to ignore me."
Yoongi shook his head. "We're strangers, Jungkook." He said. "Just—"
"We're not strangers, we're soulmates." Jungkook stated, voice stern. "That has to count for something. So look at me."
Soulmates.
The idiot said it out loud.
Yoongi sighed and lifted his head, turning slowly to Jungkook. He was wearing all black as usual, his soft doe eyes already staring back into Yoongi's eyes. But this time a big smile slowly formed on his face. And the Omega instantly was lightened up at the sight of Jungkook smiling. He had never seen it before. Jungkook's big front teeth, his pink lips curling under and his eyes sparkling joyfully as he started laughing to himself, happy.
"I feel so.." Jungkook covered his ears and leaned forward to hide his face. "God, this is so embarrassing." He said, but Yoongi knew exactly how Jungkook felt. He was happy. He was excited, curious, feeling damn satisfied with himself right now. Yoongi watched in awe as the Alpha's head dropped, trying to hide his smile. "I found my soulmate."
Yoongi's heart healed instantly, beating specifically for Jungkook.
And.. Jungkook is so cute. His ears are turning red and his smile won't leave his face. It made a smile come to Yoongi's face as well, the feeling of his soulmate being happy making himself feel happy as well. Yoongi didn't know what to say. He just sat there and stared at Jungkook, his smile not leaving his face.
"Jungkook." Both Yoongi and Jungkook's hearts dropped at the female voice coming from behind them, the sound of the door opening startling them. "What the hell?" Yuri crossed her arms at the sight of the two. "Come back to class." She said to Jungkook.
Jungkook felt sad. Yoongi felt it. And he didn't want to let Jungkook go, but Jungkook stood up from the picnic table with a sigh. His smile had left his face again. Yoongi wondered why he had never seen Jungkook smile.
"Yeah. I'm coming."
