AN: Because I didn't really explain the legion's choice on why they sided against Olympus

AN: This is also going to be a short story for an explanation

Frank's POV: 2 months before the war begins

Another boring senate meeting is done with, we just passed funding for a temple to one of the minor gods, and it only just barely passed. Jason's promise to Kymopoleia is becoming more and more out of reach as the Senate sees no point in giving a greek goddess anything. Later it would be known that this was the last temple funded and given approval by the senate, and we weren't even halfway through it all. The Greeks, however, I hear are nearing completion of their temples/monuments/cabins.

time skip to the next week

We were just about to finish a meeting of the senate on another temple, which was downvoted when Lord Mars decided to pay a visit.

"rise senators of mighty Rome" Mars said, noticing that we were all bowing

"Lord Mars, a pleasure to meet you once again," Reyna said

"The pleasure is all mine" he responded, and this is where my father started taking over the legion, swaying its loyalty from Jupiter and Olympus to himself.

Time skip

A month has passed since my father first came to visit. Since then he and Apollo began showering the camp with gifts. Given one at a time over a time period, it would be seen as nothing much, but if it were all clumped together, it would be enough to raise concern. More of the legion every day starts viewing Mars, as their caretaker, their provider, their protector, and their patron, straying farther away from Olympus. 

I can't disagree with the claims, he makes though, because the legion is left largely to its own devices with little interference and interaction with Olympus. Apparently, I'm one of the few who think we don't need their help or interaction. The legion has been fine for years standing relatively alone, we will only be growing weaker when we become more reliant on the gods than ourselves, like Romans.

And with the way things are turning, I will likely be ousted from my position within the legion.

LINE BREAK 

Welp, it happened today. I was removed from my position for failure to follow orders and am on the run trying to avoid arrest. Mars announced to everybody that war has been declared against him and that Olympus will be coming to destroy us. I think both are lies, my father is a war-hungry bastard, and if Olympus truly wanted to destroy us Lord Jupiter would just hurl his master bolt at us.

If I'm caught I would likely be tried for treason against Rome, and either be killed or banished. I knew if I was to survive and be free that I would have to run a long route to the safety of CHB. Hopefully, they will accept me.
