Reyna's POV: After she wakes up from being KO'ed

When I get my hands on that godly bastard who gave orders to retreat, he's going to regret ever coming out of his mama. I'm now being held prisoner by the Greeks after Percy knocked me out on the battlefield. And now, I'm being offered incentives to betray the legion, like extra provisions for instance. I'll not turn traitor to my people, and whoever is in a position of command that followed with that retreat order initially, I will personally execute once I get out of this wretched prison. Ohh, and did I mention it was the hunters who tied me into my prison. I would have more movement if I was locked in a straitjacket.

After a few days though, I got a lot of fucking company from a bunch of weak bastards.

Jason's POV:

I watched as Reyna fell in battle to Percy, as I was battling my sister. It was then that I noticed that it was only myself, Larry, Ida, Hazel, and Leila left fighting on the battlefield, everyone else already retreated. I slowly backed away towards my allies and told them we have to go if the legion wishes to regain it's honor from this, this humiliation, and with that, I used the winds to push against their lines and we turned and ran, unable to collect Reyna, from the battlefield. 

When, we got to our encampment, which they idiotically placed on the other side of the river, I  lost it at the centurions that weren't with me. "What the hell was that! What in the name of every god were you thinking when you retreated. You did not have valid orders from anyone to retreat, we are the 1st legion(AN: Jason it's the 12th, but I'll let you do you), and you have just brought shame not only to Rome but to this legion" I let off, "And to top it all off, our Praetor, who did not retreat, like you, was captured by our enemies, because of your cowardice. If we weren't at war right now, and if it was within my powers, I would call for a decimation, for such cowardly acts carried out by this entire legion" I said, "but as it stands now, I am only recommending that you all receive reductions to your rank"

"yeah and who's going to do that you don't have the power or the right, oh Pontifex Maximus," Micheal Kahale said, sarcastically and rudely

"I may not have the power, but the one in command after Reyna does, Hazel is your commanding officer now, since, you left your praetor," I said

"I'm in agreement with Jason, you abandon all of us on the battlefield, you dishonored Rome and this legion by doing so. As I see it the only centurions of this legion are Larry, Ida, and Leila" Hazel said, "Now if you aren't one of those three, or Jason leave this command tent"

AN: I'm giving command over the legion to Hazel since technically she is the commander of the Army of the dead that's with them. 

The centurions of the first and third left, but the god who ordered the retreat stayed, "I said leave" Hazel said annoyed

"I'm a god you have no right to command me" Phobos responded

"Fine, Jason Arrest Phobos, for desertion and dereliction of duty, to our praetor," Hazel said, and I followed the orders and bound him in imperial gold chains before he could flee like the coward he is...at least his brother died honorably on the battlefield.

Hazel's POV:

I can't believe Reyna has been captured. I've charged Phobos, with desertion and dereliction of duty, for his actions today. And to top it all off I never wanted to be in this position, nor did I want to go to war, but I do want my father to be proud of me, and I want to go back to New Rome to see Frank again. Both of us agreed that the legion didn't need the gods, namely Mars's, help,  but we were easily outvoted on the matter.

Jason had all the legionaries lined up and Phobos tied to a pole when I came out of the command tent. "For the crimes of abandoning and giving orders against that of our Praetor, Phobos, you are hereby charged and are found guilty of desertion and dereliction of duty to this legion and our Praetor," Jason said, at this, I nodded telling him to proceed with the process. He called up five legionnaires at random, gave them clubs, and ordered the death of Phobos in front of the legion, present. 

I don't know how long it has been since they started beating him, but it was dark out when he finally turned to gold dust. "This, legionaries, is what happens when you abandon your praetor when you abandon your duty to this legion, your duty to New Rome," Jason said stepping off the make-shift stage. I know he had to be punished for his crimes against us, but I found this a bit... barbaric and brutal, I don't know if I like this turn that Jason is taking. 

After that, everyone was dismissed and I headed off to bed after setting up the night watch.

I woke up and started to get the legion ready for the day when I heard Lady Diana's hunting horn sound off, and it was real close. Jason and I started to get the legion into formation to defend against a small attack against our temporary encampment, but what we didn't know was that this was a full-on attack by them. 

As we started to charge against the hunters, and whomever else was with them, I noticed that their Lady was with them in battle today. All of the sudden, once we started nearing the hunters, Two lines came out from the tree line on opposing sides in full charge one of which was led by Percy, and the other I think was led by Clarisse. I noticed quickly, that we were just baited into a trap, and ordered a retreat knowing that, we would likely face complete and total defeat facing them on all three sides. Jason was reluctant to follow this order but followed it nevertheless.

I would like to tell you that it was a one-time thing but, the Greeks kept on pushing us further and further back to New Rome, and when we did take a stand, after crossing the Mississippi river, half of the legion was captured and likely imprisoned, and the army of the dead that I lead to meet with the legion, went back to my father's realm, the hard way. Since that day, we have been slowly losing numbers, and haven't been able to take another stand. In a matter of two battles Percy, CHB, The hunters, and Lady Diana have managed to destroy our morale and take over half of our troops. 

I wonder how things would have turned out if Reyna wasn't captured, and those idiot gods were never brought along, as I looked around the command tent for Annabeth's and Athena's plans but couldn't find them, so I'm assuming they were destroyed by the idiots. 

It took us a week to get back to California from our first engagement, and another day to reach New Rome. I consider ourselves lucky to make it back. The hunters could easily outrun us and make it so we had to face two lines but never did, they just kept directing our retreat back to New Rome.

When we got there we were greeted by Lady Bellona, and she took notice of our reduced numbers, "Reyna, what happened and where are Heracles, Deimos, and Phobos" She asked. I knew then that I may get myself into deep shit with her. 

"Milady, Reyna..." I started, "Reyna has been captured by our enemies". After I said that, she grew a slight look of worry, but steeled it quickly. I guess she does care about her daughter.

"What about the rest of the legionaries, and what of the troops your father lent" she inquired

"The legionaries have the same fate as our Praetor Reyna at the moment. And as for the troops my father lent, well they were killed when we took a stand outside of Davenport, Iowa after crossing the Mississippi river" I said

"and What of the three gods that were sent. They are not here so, where are they" She said annoyed, probably thinking I forgot about them

"All three are dead, Hercules was the first to fall when we started fighting them. Percy challenged him in solo combat to the death. Later that night our border patrol found his body with a note attached, saying we should give him a proper burial. Demios was run through by Clarisse's spear and was killed, but burst into golden dust that quickly dissipated. After that, Phobos ordered a retreat; Jason, Leila, Larry, Ida, Reyna, and I continued to fight, as Reyna didn't order a retreat. We were separated from Reyna by their numbers, while Percy knocked Reyna out in solo combat, after that the remaining five of us left, as Jason was starting to lose to Thalia, and no one would have been able to beat Percy if Jason fell. When we got back, The centurions that fled listening to Phobos's order were demoted for leaving their Praetor behind, and not following her orders, and Phobos received Fustuarium, for deserting his post while in battle" I explained. She looked a little pissed at the first two, but that was nothing compared to the last.

"So you are telling me, that my daughter and your Praetor, was captured by the enemy because Phobos, ordered an uncalled for retreat, and the legionaries listened to it," She said, and I nodded my head, "Jason, Leila, Larry, and Ida, please step behind me and Hazel" She shouted out and they did so quickly. She then lined up the legion that went on the campaign, and began to speak, "Legionaries you have brought shame to your legion and cohorts, by abandoning your praetor, by listening to the orders of a coward" she started, I zoned out a little and notice that Lupa was looking at them disapprovingly for abandoning their praetor. I toned back in, in time to hear that Lady Bellona, is personally going to decimate the remainder of the legion for such a cowardly act, and abandoning their praetor.  

With that, the once large legion, enough to outnumber CHB two to one, now had those odds reversed, from having many of us captured, and the remainder decimated, for the betrayal of their praetor.

AN: Just to give people an update on the poll and explain decimation

A decimation is a form of punishment used in the (ancient)Roman military where the legion generally got cut down by 1/10, while the other 9 from those 10, killed the unlucky 10th person
