~One Year Later~

Louis woke up to Harry rubbing his back , he groaned and buried his face in his pillow .

"Good morning , love ." Harry smiled , "Just wanted you to know I'm leaving , I'll be back in the afternoon ." 

Louis pouted and shifted in his spot , slowly fluttering his eyes open . "What time is it ?"

"Six thirty . Go back to sleep , you don't have any classes until ten ." Harry ran his fingers through his hair , "Don't forget to take Clifford and Boss out on their walk ."

A short while after moving away , they adopted two dogs - a black German Shepherd , who was trained as a guard dog , and a labradoodle , who was Louis' emotional support dog .

"Okay ." Louis nodded against the pillow , Harry leaned down and kissed his cheek , "Give me a kiss before I go ."

Louis smiled and held his arm open , Harry leaned in and kissed him sweetly , Louis' arm wrapping around his neck . When he moved to sit up Louis held him tighter , wrapping his other arm around his shoulders to keep him close .

"I need to get going , love ." Harry chuckled , "Can't be late ." It happened every time Harry was about to leave ; Louis would do something to keep him in the house - hold onto him , hide the car keys , hide his shoes . 

"Not yet ." Louis held him tighter and cuddled into his neck , Harry sighed into Louis' shoulder as he rubbed his back , "I'll do my best to be here before five , okay ?"

"Okay ." Louis nodded and slowly let go , Harry kissed him and sat up from the bed , "Want me to let Cliffy and Boss in ?"

"Please ." Louis pulled the covers up higher , Harry opened their bedroom door and called the two dogs over , the two quickly joined Louis in bed .

"Bye love , see you in the evening ." Harry smiled at Louis , Louis smiled back , "Bye . Love you ."

"Love you ." Harry smiled wider and closed the door .

Two months after the trial , the two found a beautiful house in a small town an hour and a half away from the army base Harry was given a job offer at . They drove over to see the house , meeting up with the agent , and without thinking much about it , they decided to buy it .

Just as quickly as they found the house , they moved out of Harry's apartment a month after buying the house ; they packed up quickly , Harry's mother , Anne , helped them pack kitchen stuff to speed up the process .

They moved into the house two weeks before Louis started his jewelry designing course online , and twice a week he drove to a place where he learned how to use the tools to make jewelry designs himself . On his free time he explored the close area and took pictures of the nature around the town , and after adopting Clifford and Boss he took the two with him .

Louis woke up later that day , just before nine a.m . He brushed his teeth and changed out of his sleepwear , putting his shoes on and grabbing the dogs' leashes , smiling when the two jumped excitedly .

He clipped their leashes on and walked out of  the house , locking the door behind him . He took the two to their usual trail through the forest near the house , once far enough from the neighbourhood he took their leashes off and let them roam around . He took a picture and sent it to Harry , along with a video of the two dogs running ahead .

"Cliffy . Boss ." Louis called the two dogs over , "Come here , boys ."

The two ran back to Louis , sitting patiently as he clipped their leashes back on with their tongues out .

He walked with them back to the house and unlocked the door , walking in and closing the door , locking it behind him . He unclipped the two's leashes and checked their water bowls , adding more water before filling their food bowls .

He made himself some tea and toast with strawberry jam , then went to his laptop on the counter . He opened his laptop and organized his papers , before a link to the online class was sent to his e-mail .

The lesson was an hour and a half long , with a fifteen minutes break halfway through . He finished taking notes and put the papers aside , going to open the glass doors to the backyard to let the two dogs out .

He walked into the kitchen right on time for his phone to start ringing , he smiled when he saw Harry's contact name and quickly answered the call .

"Hi Haz ."

"Hi love . How was class ?"

"It was alright , I have another short one in two hours , was just thinking about what to cook ." Louis said and opened the fridge , "How's your day been so far ?"

"It's good , training , guns , yelling . The usual ." Harry chuckled a bit on the other side .

Louis smiled , "I wish I could let your trainee soldiers know how soft you actually are . Don't want to ruin your professionalism , though ."

"Maybe once they're done training , love ." Harry bit his lower lip , "You're adorable ."

"See ? Softie ." Louis grinned . "Do you reckon you'd be back by five ?"

"Today is going really good so far , I really hope I will . We have one more training to do . I'll call you when I leave , okay ?"

"Okay . Be careful ."

"Love you , baby ."

"Love you ."

They hung up , Louis grinned to himself as he pulled out ingredients for lunch .

Louis made a little victory dance when he got a text from Harry by three fourty five p.m , because it meant he was arriving home earlier than usual . Usually he would leave the base by five , sometimes later , and since it was an hour and a half away he would get home close to seven p.m exhausted from the long day .

On days Harry managed to come home early , Louis liked to treat the two of them . Since he had an hour and a half before Harry got home , he decided to take a quick trip to the grocery store and buy ingredients for dinner .

He went to the kitchen and took one of the books he kept of Diego's favourite dishes , and picked one that would be easy for the two of them to cook together . He made a list of ingredients on his phone and grabbed his wallet , house keys and car keys , making sure the whole house was locked up before leaving for the store .

He made it back home and unpacked the groceries , putting stuff in the fridge and leaving out the dry ingredients .

He took Boss and Clifford for another short walk , making it back home ten minutes before Harry arrived .

Harry walked into the house , "Lou ?"

"Living room !"

Harry smiled and put his keys in the bowl on the dresser , going to the living room . He smiled when Clifford jumped off the couch to greet him , he leaned down and kissed his head before going to Louis , "Hi love ."

"Hi ." Louis smiled and stretched his neck up , Harry kissed him , "Was today okay ?"

"Yeah , was nice ." Louis nodded , "I bought ingredients for dinner , picked one from Diego's books ."

"Sounds lovely . We should have a little date night out by the bonfire ." Harry placed both his hands on the back of the couch on either side of Louis' head , kissing his cheeks and forehead .

Louis smiled and nodded , "Okay ." He grabbed his cheeks and brought him into another kiss , "Go put the gun and knife away , I'll wait for you in the kitchen ." He pushed him back and stood up from the couch , Harry hugged him and kissed his neck softly before going to their room .

He joined Louis in the kitchen and together they cooked dinner , playing songs in the background . Once done they each took a role ; Louis prepared the two plates , while Harry went outside to light the firepit .

Louis put the two plates on a tray with two drink glasses , he added utensils and carried the tray out to the backyard . He put the tray on the table by the firepit and hugged his arms around himself , "I'm going to get myself a jacket , want one ?"

"Yes , thanks love . Bring a blanket , too ." Harry said as he added wood to the pit .

Louis walked into the house and went to their room , he pulled on one of Harry's large jumpers and took another one for Harry , before taking the soft comforter from the living room and walking back out to Harry .

He unfolded the jumper and scrunched it up , fitting Harry's head through the top hole . Harry chuckled softly as he let Louis help him dress , then leaned down to kiss him , "Dinner time ."

They ate their dinner , Harry told Louis about the training they did , and Louis told Harry about his classes . Once done Harry took everything back into the kitchen and left it by the sink , before going outside and sitting next to Louis on the swinging bench .

Louis brought the blanket to cover Harry too and cuddled against his side , Harry kissed the top of his head , "Tomorrow you're at the jewelry workshop , right ?"

"Yeah , need to be there by nine a.m ." Louis nodded .

"The day after is my day off ." Harry rubbed his side , "Let's train ."

"But , Harry ." Louis pouted , "I thought we agreed that we tried and you know that I can't actually punch anyone ."

Harry chuckled , "You can , you just don't want to hurt anyone . I'd love for you to at least train with me to defend yourself , or use a knife . Or a gun ."

"I don't know if I want to know how to shoot a gun ." Louis shook his head , Harry nodded , "It's alright . A knife , then ? It's simple ."

"You know I don't like all of these violent things ." Louis looked up at him through his eyelashes , Harry kissed his forehead , "I know . I would still like for you to know some basic defence kicks and punches ."

Louis turned towards him and moved his legs to lay across his lap , "I'm not sure I'll ever have to use it , though ."

"Unfortunately you never know . It's not like you know before someone attacks you ."

Louis decided to turn the heavy conversation into a playful one , "The only one who attacks me is you , and it's with tickles . Do you really want me to learn how to defend myself ? Because I might end up punching you if you do ."

Harry laughed and brought Louis closer , kissing him a few times , "You're so cute . I would still like for you to know ." He pulled him even closer , until he was seated sideways on his lap with the blanket laid over the two of them .

Louis wrapped his arms around Harry's shoulders and cuddled closer , Harry held him tightly and nudged his forehead with his nose , "Look up ."

Louis looked up , smiling when Harry pressed their lips together . He hummed and leaner closer , before giggling into the kiss when Harry's fingers moved around his side . He tried pushing his hand away without breaking the kiss , but failed when Harry dug gently into the spot on his lower ribs that makes him lose it .

Harry grinned as he watched Louis laughing , now using two hands to tickle him , making him fall backwards on the cushion while still sitting on Harry's lap .

"If you knew how to punch , you would've won this tickle fight already ." Harry teased .

"St-Stop it !" Louis' stomach was shaking from laughter , he started kicking at Harry and shoving him away weakly .

Harry stopped and stilled his hands on Louis' waist , still smiling widely at him , "You're so cute ." He grabbed Louis' hands to pull him up , Louis sat up - still on his lap - and dug his fingers into Harry's ribs , "Just wait , I'm going to get you back - I'll tell all of your trainee soldiers your ticklish spot ."

Harry only smirked , "You haven't found that spot yet , so you've got nothing to tell ." He let Louis prod at his upper body , Louis huffed , "I know you have a spot , and I'll find it and when I come to visit you at the base I'll make you giggle like a child in front of everyone ."

"So cute ." Harry wrapped his arms around him and brought him into a kiss , Louis curled up against his chest and wrapped his arms around his shoulders , "You're lucky I love you ."

"Love you , more ." Harry pecked the tip of his nose and pressed their lips together .
